The Gun Thread

Yeah, the 1911 I purchase doesnt have to be a Colt, there are plenty of good manufacturers out there.

A lot of that ("kick") depends on the load used and the weight of the gun. My 9mm kicks more than my 45 because my 9mm is so light. That said, Ive never met an adult male that couldnt handle any caliber handgun.

I agree. I'm not afraid to fire any handgun. I was expecting the 10mm to have just a slight more kick than a 9mm, but it actually had more than my 1911. That's why it took me off guard. I want to fire higher caliber handguns.

As long as the 1911 has that Goverment Model look, I love them. It's like a classic car.

Exactly right on both counts.

I really love the look and feel of the 1911 and do not prefer it for every day carry/personal defense.....which is why I said it would likely end up being a safe queen. I really would want to keep it in nice shape too. So I can carry my "fighting pistols" regularly and get them dirty.

here is some porn to bump this.

1911s, since it is the current subject:

Just picked this up this morning. It's a GSG-5. It's a .22 caliber replica of the H&K MP5. It will be fun to plink at the range. I also picked up 2 extra mags for it and ordered 5000 rounds and 4 more mags.

This is a pic of my pegboard with my guns on it. I want to get one more 1911 and then I'll start building my next pegboard and build my next AR.

Nice. I went to a local gun show today and found something that will be a future purchase. Its a Gloock conversion into a short barrel rifle with suppressor, made by CAA-Roni.

With the conversion itself, Glock 19, supressor, extended mag and the 2 necessary tax stamps, it was $2000 even. I guess I will have to set up a payment plan!

That is crazy!! That would be worth the 2K.

Yeah, I was close to pulling out a credit card and asked about layaway, but he wanted 40% down! Anyways, if I win the lottery, Ill pick it up sooner!

I like that GSG, you will have some fun with it.

I win the lottery, I'm building an armory.

I'm definitely looking forward to getting the GSG out to the range once I get the ammo. Should be a nice plinker.

Got to keep this thread going. If anyone has watched Sons of Guns on Discovery Channel here is a video of the suppressed Saiga-12. I am blown away by a suppressed 12 gauge.

I've only seen one episode of that show, and that's actually the one i saw. very cool.

Amazing. Whatever you can think of, someone will make it work.

It's sounds like a .22 going off. It's amazing. I think they only want $1200 for it as well.

Another gun show in town today. I actually picked up a Rock Island Armory 1911. I know its low end/entry level, but I really couldnt beat the price. Plus, it already had Punisher skull grips like yours, Kable, which was a nice plus.
Also picked up a new Gerber knife that I fell in love with as soon as I picked it up. Got 3 more mags for the Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 as well. So, Im broke now! LOL!
Pics to come this week.

I don't own a gun, but in 2-3 years, when I move to a state where it's legal, I might get a Taser for self-defense.

Nice stuff. I can't wait to see them.

You want self defense without a firearm, I would suggest learning a martial art, not carrying a Taser. But that's just me.

I love that 1911. Can I ask what it went for?

If you consider 15 to 20 feet to be long distance.

Anywhere outside that radius self-defense wouldn't be a pressing concern though.

Im going to be a tease and say "under $400." :cwink:

Tasers are long distance :o.

LOL. I actually said what I said for multiple reasons and long distance is not one of them.

Just off the top of my head
#1 The good ones are costly (when compared to a decent firearm).
#2 They are difficult to carry concealed.
#3 They are nearly impossible to practice with in order to be prepared.
#4 Because they are single shot-reload type weapons they are TERRIBLE for a multiple attacker scenario and/or simply if you miss with the first shot.

Numbers 2-4 are pretty much dealbreakers in my opinion to desire a taser for self defense.
