Since we have Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, Supergirl now in the modern comics, I felt we should look back at the first three Supergirls from Post-Crisis comics before the real one came back.
Here are the three I'm referring to:
* The Matrix Supergirl - an artificial protoplasm life form created by the Lex Luthor of a "pocket universe", resembling Lana Lang (but with blond instead of red hair) and wearing a feminine version of Superman's costume. She did not have Superman's powers except for flight, but she did have telekinesis, shape-shifting, and invisibility ablilities. She lived in Smallville with the Kents, who used the name "Mae". Then, she began a romance with Lex Luthor (who was Luthor II, Luthor's heir and son) until she found out that the "son" was actually Luthor himself.
* The Linda Danvers Supergirl - a police officer's daughter who dated someone who turned out to be part of a cult who was planning to kill her, the Matrix Supergirl appeared and saved her from being killed. Wounded, the Matrix tried to heal Linda until herself was merged into Linda's body creating a new Superigrl. She had the flight, superhuman strength, speed, & invulnerablity like Superman and had the telekinesis from Matrix Supergirl. An she also could change from the brunette Linda to the blond Supergirl. Soon, she became an "Earth Born Angel" and got wings of fire and flame vision, fighting demons and dark gods. In her last appearences, she met the pre-crisis Supergirl and became friends until she found out about a villian named Xenon and then lived as Supergirl in the pre-crisis timeline which then led to a relationship between her and the pre-crisis Superman and a daughter. Forced to return home, she defeated Xenon and sent the pre-crisis Supergirl home despite she knew her fate in CoIE. Because of that, she had one more family reunion and hung up the cape and leaving her life.
* Cir-El/Supergirl - a young girl in costume attacked a crazed villain and introduced herself as Supergirl, Superman's daughter. Lois, who was reporting the attack, confronted Superman about the girl and the idea of him having an affair. Then, she calmed down and dismissed the new Supergirl until she landed in front of Lois and called her "Mommy". Superman confronted the girl, who argued that she was his daughter with Lois, and that her name was Cir-El. She was from the future and brought to the past by the Futuresmiths. When tested, it was learned that Cir-El being Superman's daughter was true but that Lois wasn't the mother, but he considered her family anyway. But then things went even more weird when she changed into Mia, who hated Cir-El. It was learned that Cir-El was created by Brainiac using Superman's DNA onto the body of Mia. Horrified, Cir-El threw herself into a time portal to prevent herself from being born, and thus, prevent the future from ever happening.
That was the last Supergirl until the return of Kara Zor-El in the modern continunity.
So out of these three Supergirls, which one did you like?
