A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

Cena and the Rock had stuff released on DC Fandome today.
 
Danielson vs Suzuki was great. Really fun technical & striking match.

I enjoy seeing guys like Sammy Guevara and John Silver just go wild in the ring.
 
The AEW Eliminator Tournament looks pretty disappointing... No Black, no Punk, no MJF, no Miro, no Allin, no Pac, no Andrade, no Jungle Boy, no Cole... Why are guys like Matt Hardy (Casino match), Christian Cage (straight title match) and Dustin Rhodes (this) in the title picture in 2021? I never liked any of those 3, but now it's just sad watching them really...

I knew this Tourny was just a way to get Danielson a Title shot, which is fine but that's a disappointing lineup...

I think it's a case of stretching what is there and also having a tournament without the headache of who is going over who.

Looking at the brackets, you'd bet your house on a Mox v Danielson final which is fine, as the likes of Allin, MJF, Miro etc don't have to be sacrificed to get that. AEW do these type of gimmicks to pick no one contender frequently so I'm sure the next will feature some of the ones you mentioned.

In regards Punk this is going to be a massive slow burn. You can see it in how they're pushing the fact he's barely winning matches. Punk won't be involved in the title picture until 2022 I'd say but when he is, it's going to feel big.
 
CM Punk's comment about Serena Deeb's hair went over my head until I remembered they were in Straight Edge Society and she shaved her head.

He has a unique character/gimmick.
 
Punk could stay out of the title picture until 2023 and still be the top wrestler in the company. They just need to make sure to keep his feudal fresh and last a while.

Yeah, I knew the reasons, was just surprised that it was this watered down. Obviously the more top talent you put into a Tournament the more top talents have to lose... doing it this way gets Bryan his shot and keeps the guys I mentioned clean. It makes sense, I was just hoping it would be better than this because I like Tournaments and they have a good talent pool now with all the new additions.

Going to be interesting to see what they do with the winner of this, considering it's expected that Hangman will be the new Champion. Does Bryan take the belt off Page that soon or does he take an L to push the younger star. I don't see Bryan having an issue letting Page go over but putting the belt on Bryan makes alot of sense too. Will be interesting.

I agree on Punk, honestly Punk never needs to win the Title, put him in good feuds with top guys and keep him doing interesting things and the title might not ever be necessary. Obviously he will have at least 1 run as Champ but he doesn't need it. Neither does Bryan really. They are the two most over stars in all of wrestling and I don't see that changing if they don't end up Champions.
 
I think they need to put Punk in a deep feud with like Miro or Malakai Black.

They are clearly taking their time with Punk. They don't want him to be in a blood feud just yet.
 
I am conflicted on who becomes King of the Ring since I like both finalists.

They gotta give it to Xavier Woods, right? The fans are clearly behind him and he'd at least do more with it than Finn Balor, who, frankly doesn't need it.

Woods and Vega should be the winners. Knowing WWE, Balor and, ugh, Doudrop will win it.

Nothing wrong with Balor winning it, even at the expense of Woods.

Actually there is because this win would finally established Woods as a legit solo wrestler much like the rest of the New Day instead of just a tag team guy/hype man. Balor has held almost every WWE title so he doesn't really need it. To give this to Woods should do wonders for him instead of just making him the Marty Jannetty to Kofi & Big E.
 
Exactly, I think now's the time to give Xavier his shine. Kofi had a run, Big E is currently running ish and now Woods needs some burn. I think Xavier would be a damn good IC/US champ.

Actually, I think Xavier Woods would be a good World/Universal champ. Dude can wrestle and talk. That's more than many former champs could do.
 
I think Balor should win. For one, I can't stand Xavier Woods, he's literally one of the most annoying characters in all of television history for me. Anytime him and Kofi are cutting a promo I turn it off or fast forward past it. Those two together are like nails on a chalkboard for me. But more importantly, under no circumstances should Xavier be beating Finn in a match clean, he's one of the worst wrestlers on the roster, Finn is one of the best. Him beating Ricochet was already a joke, Ricochet is 10 times the wrestler Xavier is, he does anything Woods can do except exponentially better... Beating Finn? Nope.

They already have Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander and Ricochet (and others) who are basically the same type of wrestlers as Woods, who aren't getting good pushes, except they are all much better in the ring. So there is no need to push Woods as a single. Woods is over, he's popular, seems like a nice guy, and I get that King of the Ring is his dream, but the only reason he made it this far is because of this fan push for him to win. Finn doesn't need it, but if I was Finn and they made me lose to Woods, I would ask for my release...

I know this post won't go over well here, I'm honestly not trolling, just my opinion on one of the bigger subjects going on in WWE right now... Sorry Xavier fans, but he's awful.

I know I'm in the minority and I know he's popular. I don't understand why, but I've known that before this fan push for him to win KOTR.

But then Balor fans will say WWE is burying Balor if he loses and he should go to AEW! I don't care who wins because I like them both.

I'd agree that there's something lacking with Xavier to an extent, so Finn would have to be the choice.

I think Queen Doudrop or Queen Vega could be entertaining so I'm in the minority in saying I don't mind the final. I mean honestly, why would Baszler need a queen gimmick? She just doesn't have the charisma to pull it off.

Carmella had her moment with the MITB. Liv I can see but she didn't necessarily need to be seen as Queen Liv, whereas you can see being Queen fitting into Vega's or Doudrop's current gimmick.
