No better way to establish how badass Kang is then to have him kill one of the last OG Avengers, and the one who's a god at that

I don't want him to leave. He is a fantastic Thor.

A year ago I'd have suspected Hemsworth would be in it for the long haul and playing Thor well into his fifties, possibly even longer. But after his decision to take more of a break from acting once he learned that Alzheimer's runs in his family and he's likely to develop it, I'm not so sure he'll be as in it for the long haul as I thought.
