We need another movie like Aliens, Predator, Terminator...

Cameron has stated he'll never direct another Terminator movie again in his life.

There is no need for another one anyway...atleast in my opinion.

Actually you will be getting all three; Aliens, Predators, and Terminators - oh my!

Aliens V Predator:Survival of the Fittest is scheduled to hit theatres in Dec. 2007:

This December the ultimate rematch is back! Alien Vs. Predator: Survival of the Fittest hits theatres and you can get your sneak peek right now!
Mike Richards goes behind the scenes to give you an exclusive look at AVP 2 on Reel Channel!

And as for Terminator...
Terminator 4 draft finished
More news about Brancato and his Terminator 4 script. Sci Fi Wire reports: Screenwriter John Brancato told SCI FI Wire that he and partner Michael Ferris have turned in a draft of a script for a proposed fourth Terminator movie—one that works around the expected absence of previous Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is now the governor of California. "We did have to think about a new franchise character, [because] he couldn't carry the movies anymore," Brancato said in an interview. "That caused us to have a pretty novel approach to what a new terminator would be like. What directions would it go in? There will be a new robot on the set of Terminator 4."
Brancato and Ferris wrote the screenplay for the last installment, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, which was directed by Jonathan Mostow. Brancato said that Mostow is involved in development of the fourth movie, but added, "We'll see if it winds up being him as director. If it does come to life—and everything's up in the air—it might come out in about a year and a half to two years."
Producers have suggested that the series could continue through a fifth film. But the writers have not worked that far ahead. "Five, I don't want to think about," Brancato said.
Thanks to T-850Terminator!

The Terminator???

I'm *surprisingly* mildly excited about AVP 2. Because Paul "Worst S***" Anderson isn't attached, and it's going to be rated R.

That might be true. At least Children of Men, because it's set in a not-too-distant future and is post-apocalyptic, certain hits closer to home than a story in a galaxy far far away in a time and place I will never live to see. Despite that the fact that Aliens is Sci-fi, I think it's theme is just as relevant, albeit more "masked" than Children of Men. I.e. you have to really scrape past the surface of Aliens where Children of Men is more straight forward.

Like I said before, it's all apples and oranges with me, I think both movies are fantastic

OMG YOU GOTTA BE JOKING!!!! THAT IS ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER!?!?!?!?!

But back to The Terminator, I think it should have two trilogies like Star Wars. The first trilogy(T1-T3) is about the Terminators trying to stop John Connor from leading the resistance. The next trilogy should be about the actual war that we see at the beginning of the T movies.

I watched Serenity last night and I thought it was enjoyable, nothing epic but geez Whedon's themes of feminism and homosexuality seem so heavy handed. I don't have problems with those themes but I just feel like he's constantly trying to shove it down your throats.

I saw Serenity last night (presumably on the same channel Erz did). I thought it was really crappy actually. Certainly not on the pedestal I see it get put on. It was alright, but nothing great or new. And the acting was porn star level. I felt like I was watching an extended episode of Star Trek, nothing more.

It's on the pedestal because of their respective fanboys.

I remember a t-shirt going around saying "Whedon is my master now" in the Star Wars font.

Well Whedon has an over-abundance of overratedness, I personally think Serenity is the best non Star Wars sci-fi movie this decade, but I think the rest of Whedons resume is kind of shotty, including the show Firefly, now it only went 12 episodes, and there are alot of great tv series sans seriel series, that's first 12 episodes wheren't all that great ether, or at least no incomparison to where they went, like Sienfeld whos third season is about 100 times better than the first one, which is still good. So I think there was alot of potential in Firefly, but Whedon I think is still overated

Considering we had what Sci Fi movies in the past 7 years? It's not really a compliment.

I, Robot? War of the Worlds?

Not exactly a new age for Sci-Fi movies the past few years.

To me it felt like a glorified TV show or Star Trek episode. It broke no new ground, had no interesting or disectable characters. It no way should this be compared to Alien or Aliens. Heck I'd have trouble ranking it above the third installment, Alien3.

LOL

Out of those 26 movies. I have "2" on DVD which really shouldn't count because it's Star Wars.

But out of 24 other movies, I don't think I'd go out of my way to own. :o

The Planet of the Apes remake was actually pretty good as far as remakes go...I love the ending, such an atypical movie ending.

Like I said, Serenity is easily the best non-Star Trek sci-fi movie, followed by Reloaded

And like I said, seeing it's competition, that's not saying much.

Ha I was thinking of Forrest Whitaker's role in Battlefield Earth when he won the Oscar last night.

And like I said, seeing it's competition, that's not saying much.

I'm not disagreeing with you

If I where to put it in the 90's, or the legendary 80's I would still think it is a great movie

I'd put the Last Starfighter before Serentity.
