Mmm... Lookin' sexy, Lara. :word:

I was gonna buy this game last night, but the store only had the strategy guide! Looks like I'll have to try again tonight.

Is it just me or does Lara look different from TRL? Her face doesnt quite look the same

I just wanted to point this out - Natla's Atlantean Form from Tomb Raider: Anniversary really reminds me of a mix between X2, X3 and Comic Phoenix! She has some of the key features from all of them. The darkened/veiny/scaly skin(X3), fiery eyes(X2/Comic Phoenix) and the fiery hair and ability to create energy blasts that look like fire can probably go under 'Comic Phoenix'! :D I just had a nerdgasm when I first saw this cutscene and I wanted to share my joy! :D

I posted this in the X3 thread too because I'm a nerd like that. lol :p

okay that explains it alrough I dont neceasrily think she looks younger...lol

I think it's because of the lips...put you finger over her lips then take them off. She looks different when you cover her lips. They look too much like Jay-Z's and not enough like classic Lara or even Angelina Jolie..

I think she looks the best in this render.

I dont think its just the lips. Lara looks alot more real and natural here. I was looking at Legends and she had a bit of heavy eye makeup and her face was a bit cartoonish but its softer here. I think she looks better and hoep they base the Lara on the next game based on this model

I like the Anniversary model best too. The Legend one was a HUGE improvement over the rest of the games, but I'm glad to see they didn't stop there, since she still did look cartoony. Crystal Dynamics seems like they're moving Lara in the direction of being a lot more life-like and realistic. The one of the most obvious differences is that they got rid of those ridiculous torpedo boobs that Lara had for so many years. Now she's actually starting to look like a real woman, which is a breath of fresh air after seeing her look so fake for so long.

BTW, I got the game the other day! It's great! :)

Heres a pic of Legend Lara. She's defiently improved

The pic won't show due to hotlinking. Anyway, here's a quick look at Lara's evolution from Chronicles to Angel of Darkness compared to Legend to Anniversary. What an amazing difference changing developers has made. ;)

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (3 years later)

Crystal Dynamics:

Tomb Raider Anniversary (one year later)

It's pretty crazy to see how Lara has evolved over the last few years. Core seemed like they were obsessed with reminding the gamer that Lara was a digital chracter, because even in the high-res renders, she looked like she was made of jagged plastic. And even though she improved a bit in Angel of Darkness, she still looked very fake, and Core refused to stop giving her the "torpedo breasts" that had plagued the franchise since it's conception.

When we look at what Crystal Dynamics has done with her though, it's pretty apparent that they wanted to take Lara's design in a different direction right from the start. In Legend, she still looked cartoony (and had lots of eyeshadow), but she was a lot more believable as a character. She wasn't jaggy and was less plastic looking, and they at long last ditched the twin torpedoes. And just a year later with Anniversary, they took it a step further and made her even more realistic looking.

Basically, Crystal Dynamics has successfully been doing over the course of 3 years what Core had failed to do over the course of 7. I can't wait to see what's in store for the next-generation Tomb Raider.

the way she looks in that last picture is definitly the best by far. and i wanted some one to show her evolution :D well done lol

I agree that Legend Lara still looks a bit cartoony in some renders, but not in all of them. Like in this one, she looks incredibly realistic.

I think that she looks great in the Anniversary renders, though. Still looks like Legend Lara, but just younger.

Do you think they will?

Hopefully they will. They said there's going to be a special edition of Legend that'll include Anniversary, but nothing's confirmed yet. I'd gladly re-buy Legend to get Anniversary on a disc. :woot:

A 360 package including both Legend & Anniversary? Yeah I'd definitely get that. I really want to own a disc of this as the 1st TR game was a very big thing to me.
