World Did anyone else say Spiderman - The New Animated Series?

I really can't make an opinion on the original voice actors since I've seen every Spidey show dubbed in spanish :D The cool thing is that the voice actors who dubbed Peter, MJ, Harry and Jonah in the Raimi trilogy also dubbed the characters in this show which was pretty cool and Peter in Spectacular Spider-Man was dubbed by the same guy as well.

That's a interesting little tidbit, thanks for sharing! But I must say, you're missing out on not hearing these great voice actors that are playing Peter/Spider-Man. I'm guessing your English is pretty good since you are able to communicate just fine on this board so it might be worth your while to try and get copies of these shows in English and give the original actors a listen. Not sure how difficult it would be for you to get them, it's just my opinion.

Especially since your favorite of the shows happens to be this one, The New Animated Series, I'd highly recommend getting a hold of the original to hear Neil Patrick Harris' work as Spidey. He kicks ass in the role. You'll probably end up liking the show even more.

Would you believe he is a singer too lol.

He must make people's ears bleed. lol

I really wonder if this has something to do with the direction. Because when you listen to Drake in some of his other voiced roles, he doesn't really sound bad at all. But for some reason in the USM cartoon he has this high-pitched, whiny tone. Though there are some moments when his voice returns to a normal range and he sounds fine.

Possible. They want him to sound as childish as possible to appeal to younger viewers I guess.

It's not connected to The Sam Rami movies because The Lizard died in it and Doctor Connors was in Spider-Man 2 and 3

I haven't seen this show yet. Honest opinion, guys, is it even worth watching?

Nooo, I love Drake Bell's music :argh: Lol. Sadly he injured his wrist not long ago and it seems he may never be able to play guitar again. :csad:

I came to find out the same thing. I've only seen like one episode years ago and it didn't leave much of an impression.

I am excited to watch it just to see Michael Clarke Duncan reprise his Kingpin role though.

I found it kind of dull and the animation was terrible. On the plus side, it had good voice acting and was a more adult, more character driven show. It wasn't overly bad like some other Spider-Man series (Spider-Man Unlimited, Ultimate Spider-Man), but it didn't excite me either.

I had no clue that drake got hurt and I had no clue about Michael Clarke Duncan did kingpin lol.

You are a fan of the Raimi films so I'd say, yes, it is worth a watch. IMO, The New Animated series is basically the Raimiverse 1.1

The show aired in 2003, between SM1 and SM2 and essentially follows the same continuity. Norman is dead, Harry blames Spider-Man for the death of his father, Peter/MJ/Harry are attending college together and Peter and MJ can't quite make it work as a romantic couple, and there's another girl that comes into play that causes more interference for Pete and MJ. And without giving away too much, the final episodes cause Peter to give up being Spider-Man. Could be seen as a precursor to SM2.

Overall the animation is all cgi and I found it to be lacking, even from day one. The action is pretty good though and the voice acting, minus MJ's, is all really good and what I'd consider the highlight. NPH kills it as Peter/Spidey.

All CGI animation? Pass. That would annoy me no end.

Interesting though it's set in between SM-1 and 2. That has to be a first. An animated show set in between two movies.

I have no clue if there has been another show set in-between a movie or not. I watched it for the first time in years like 6 months ago has I hadn't seen it in years. It was ok better then the newest sm show but way way worse then sm 90's sierras or spectauler spider man or amazing friends and the 60's one.

Sad that Michael Clarke Duncan can never voice him again.
Agreed, I always had hoped he'd be able to reprise his role again someday in some form or another, I thought he was a great fit. :csad:

I love him ever since Green Mile. I think he was great Kingpin in Daredevil.

Yes, I believe it is a first. From what I remember, the show was initially supposed to follow the USM comics in terms of story and continuity but after the major success of SM1, the show's producers/execs made a conscious decision to have the continuity follow the Raimiverse.

Bizarre decision. It's very limiting to follow a movie universe continuity, especially when a sequel was in the works.

This show was alright. However I felt that it wrote itself into a corner trying to have it in the same continuity as the movies. There was also the lack of important characters like Aunt May and it had too many original villains. Some of those villains being knock-offs of villains from the comics.

Since it was set between SM-1 and 2, what villains did they use?

Ah man, I loved this show!

The animation was iffy at times, like the writing... but it was a lot of fun. Loved the voice for Spidey, NPH was perfect. I also loved their version of Electro and Kraven.

Was it supposed to be set between SM1 and SM2? It's not canon... right, just loosely inspired?

The only villains that appeared that were actually from the comics were Kingpin, Lizard, Electro, Kraven and Silver Sable.

That wasn't Rocket Racer. It was a knock-off of him. His name was Turbo Jet.

Why would they use Rocket Racer type villain and call him something else lol?

It can't be canon, because it has things like MJ going to college with Peter and that clearly doesn't happen in the films. Also, it has the Lizard and Connors appears as normal in SM2 & SM3.
