She-Hulk Marvel Studios' She-Hulk General Discussion Thread

Didn't people say that Paul Rudd was too goofy to be in the MCU based on his film background? That's worked out so far.

I doubt anyone could say that, because the majority of MCU lead actors are comedy actors.

I was partial to the idea of Alison Brie :hrt:, even if convinced it was nothing more than rumor, but as long as this is moving forward...

It's funny how they were looking for an 'Alison Brie' type... Tatiana M. is the furthest thing from that. Perhaps a change in direction.

Tatiana is the more versatile actress with more range so if MCU wants to use her in other projects that aren't just comedy series her versatility is an advantage. Comedy is difficult people say, but there is plenty of comedic moments in Orphan Black where she was praised.

I was hoping for Allison Brie or even Cristin Milioti. I don't really know this actress but I thought they wanted an Allison Brie type. How did Allison not qualify for that?

To those confused by the casting due to the understanding that Marvel apparently was looking for a ‘Alison Brie type’: Perhaps those rumors never held even a modicum of truth, and you should take such reports with a grain of salt.

Just a thought.

It was just funny that Alison Brie herself addressed the 'She-Hulk' Alison Brie-type "rumors" on late-night TV;

I'm a little surprised we got this casting news before Ms. Marvel, but I like the choice. I hope Ruffalo does appear in an episode or two, which I'm assuming he will since this will most likely be her origin story. As much as I would have liked to see Alison Brie in the role, Tatiana is probably the better actress and I can picture her as a lawyer more than Brie. I wonder when and where she will make the jump to the MCU big screen.

I’m really excited She-Hulk has been cast.

Marvel, THAT IS SOME REALLY BALLSY CASTING RIGHT THERE!
WELCOME TO THE MCU, TATIANA!
WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE YOU!
If that is your lead, I simply cannot wait to see who else they cast and for what roles.

Well I can picture Brie as a lawyer and more of an Ally McBeal type of lawyer which would've been entirely suitable.

Fan since she used to film a Canadian Highschool drama in my hometown :D

But personally, I would have preferred Alison Brie because she's WAAAAAY funnier.

The Tatiana casting unfortunately means this won't be a comedy series. :down She's too big of a dramatic actress..

Tatiana seems like a very left field choice for a zany Marvel property

Tatiana’s done a bunch of Comedy Bang Bang and literally was on Parks and Rec for a few episodes. Just because Orphan Black is literally the only thing you know her from doesn’t mean it’s the extent of her range. If Alison Brie had only ever done dramas and horror movies, you’d say she shouldn’t be cast in comedies either. It’s almost like actors can do both.

Michael Shannon is as dramatic an actor as you get. He’s HYSTERICAL in The Night Before. Chadwick Boseman was great on SNL when he hosted. Bryan Cranston used to be the dad on Malcolm in the Middle for God’s sake.

Like seriously, is the fear that despite years of Tatiana showing comedy shops (even on Orphan Black, let alone on her many comedy podcast appearances where she’s doing straight improv) that Tatiana would what, refuse to do a joke because she’s so dramatic? Mark Ruffalo’s career is 90% dramatic, was he too dramatic to do comedy in every Hulk appearance?

Yeah, this casting tells me that Marvel has some really wild and zany things planned for She Hulk and they need an actress who can roll with all of the creative punches that they are going to throw at her.

Which version of She-Hulk will she be? Savage like her original appearance but still sexy? Sensational and breaking the fourth wall? Single Green Female? Or the more recent monstrous version that Marvel seems to have been steering towards?

Saw the headline on the main page. Just a bit disappointed it's not Angie Harmon, because based on this clip, she's been dying to play her:

Yay love this for her! This is going to be amazing.

I hope awesome Andy turns up too

Oh, great casting choice there.
Super interested in this now, and good to see that this all starts to take shape.

Guess I'd better subscribe to this thread since I'm officially hyped through the roof for this now. This honestly one of my favorite bits of casting Marvel has ever done. She's gonna kill it.

We just need to take a look how, in Hollywood, when a shortlist of actors or actresses is revealed almost none of the actors are alike with another, lol.

So it doesnt sound weird that Feige and co. considered actresses like Alison, Tatiana and others likely as different as them.

I wonder if Alison Brie even auditioned. And if she did, did Marvel decide they didn't want her after all? Wasn't she following She-Hulk casting on Twitter recently?

And if it seemed as if Marvel pretty much said they wanted Alison Brie originally, then what will be the reaction if someone other than John Krasinski is cast as Reed Richards since it seems that many fans have already decided that's who they want?
