Cable: Casting, Rights, General Discussion!

Since the discussion about the rights for Cable is ongoing in the Marvel Studios thread, I decided it would be best to have a thread for that discussion, and that character.

Okay, I'll bite:
who or what has the rights to Cable? Just off the top of my head, I'd assume Fox....do you (or someone else) know something different....?

Not seeing him getting a movie especially without the X-Men.

Cable will somehow show up in the next X-Men Origin spin off, somewhere between the 1960's and the 1980's, with no explanation as to why he is there and no indication that Cyclops is his father.
