It's a Bird! It's a Plane! David Corenswet IS Superman!

Yeah. Similarly, as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, it’s frustrating when 90% of queer movies or subplots in movies are tragic or painful. That’s not to say those stories shouldn’t be told, but it would be nice to have more content out there that isn’t all about pain and suffering.
Have you seen the series 'Special' with Ryan O Connell - it's very uplifting. I loved it.

I mentioned him before, but I'm throwing Jonah Hauer-King's name into the mix. He's 26 going on 27 later this month and about 6'2 in height and I personally love that he has Jewish ancestry. Solid actor IMO, though the only hiccup I have right now is that I've never heard him do an American accent.

Nice find, I've always said I fancied an actor that has jewish heritage, that look... after all, it was superman's basis. Miles Teller being the actor I would have chosen for a depowered superman, but I don't know if he can portray that genuine charm as he often appears unlikeable.

This dude has a great look though. Gosling vibe too.

I feel like we are going to get someone out of left field that they hope pulls a Ledger and takes Superman to a whole new level (obviously they would want this with anything but I feel they know they need to get it right this time)

Saw the first season and yes it’s very good. Been meaning to check out season 2!

I didn't even know there was a season 2, that slipped under the radar.

I don't really know, off hand of any other show that represents and is lighter in tone and fun, I mean, there are UK shows that for years cover certain aspects in a fun way - absolutely fabulous, thin blue line, vicious, gimme gimme gimme, are you being served - whilst they do often portray stereotypes, it' fun none the less - but I think over all it's due to me just not watching tv at all these past few years.

Jacob Elordi isn't my first choice, but I could live with him mostly because with some working out, he could be very impressive in the suit.

My two big concerns with him is that I don't think he could play two separate characters well in the movie, and I really haven't seen him ever be charming, either on screen, or in interviews.

Those were the main two reasons I so disliked Cavill's performance, besides the bad acting. I never saw Cavill play Clark differently from Superman, and I have never seen him be charming, either on screen or in interviews.

I wouldn't want to carry on that case.

Recently Elordi was quoted as saying that he believes it is time he moves on from the HBO show, Euphoria. He said he was getting to old to keep playing a high school student. Doesn't mean much, but is interesting.

Miles Teller, obvy. :o

Watch The Time Traveller’s Wife on HBO.

Then shut your eyes when Theo James is talking.

Superman.

It's not on my wish list but I bet Harry Styles will be on the final list of potentials.

A good fancast instead of Brandon Routh in Superman Returns, or DJ Cotrona in Justice League Mortal.
I'll go with justice league mortal as it probably would have been good. Really wish we got that film.

I’m hoping we get a lighter, more playful Superman next time around. I finally read Smashes the Klan recently and I was struck by how refreshing it was to see Superman operate with confidence and a healthy sense of humor. He was almost mischievous at times, which I think works for a being powerful enough to handle most problems. That’s the Superman I want on the big screen.

A lighter more playful Superman leaves Cavill out as his personality would not allow that. A Superman with a sense of humor and playfulness is beyond him.

Others could create that, but Cavill's personality would not

I'm personally over the "Cavill look" for Superman which I get to some might sound crazy because he IS how Superman should look but I disagree. Growing up I have seen many different faces in the costume and I don't think Cavill defines it.

The thing I liked about George Reeves, Chris Reeves, and Hoeclin, is that they're versions could be disarming and charming when need be, but could also be serious and be ready to take names.

I hope we get back to that type of Superman personality wise.

Cavill's Superman was written in a way ( to me ) that he came off as a standoffish God.

He had none of the "Aww shucks" personality from Smallville. The charm that we associate Superman having since he was raised there.
He came off as ultra serious 95% percent of the time.

I understand you have to modernize films/characters, but in this case, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Snyder tried to reinvent a perfectly fine wheel. What we got in result was a octagon wheel.

Captain America did just fine with his boy scout attitude.
Spiderman did pretty ok with his personality also.
Both were true to their comic roots.
You have to look at the whole body of work in the comics and not just the last 10/15 years.

I can almost guarantee if wb would make a Superman film based on birthright and Superman for all seasons, Bring back cavill, hire Brad Bird to direct, then it would make close to a billion if not more.

We do not want an edgy, mopey, dark, too cool for school Superman film. We just don't.

He needs to be hopeful, with a sense of humor, has the "I'm from Smallville Kansas" personality, he loves his powers, and he loves people.

Stopping a purse snatcher to him should be just as important as saving a crashing plane.
No job is too little or big.

I think all of those qualities are why we need Corenswet as superman. I think the guy oozes all of those qualities on and off screen and if he can deepen his body of work i have no doubt he'd be a front runner.

I think Cavills superman would've worked so much more efficiently if he was a part of an ensemble from the get go. I think if he got to play an established superman leading the JL we'd have a different view on him regardless of what MoS started. I feel in that team setting you can kind of give him a little bit of slack for not being the aw shucks kansas boy and focus on making him a great leader and man of action while throwing in the boy scout traits for good measure. And obviously if he was written more traditionally from the get go Cavill might have been able to settle into that version of superman that you're describing.

But as much as I like him, I think it's too late. I think the time has passed. If something got worked out then great I'm on board. But I would not be surprised if he doesn't star again.
