The BATSUIT Thread

i see people post manips of the white lenses for live action batman on social media a lot.

all it does for me is confirm that white lenses don't work. lol.

i have yet to see a white lenses manip that shows it is > pattinson's eyes.
Now Daredevil lenses.

they should cast robert pattinson and tom hardy in a movie together and it's just them eye acting and doing funny voices.

I'm inclined to agree, although I think "Dead End' made a nice compromise.

The biggest mistake people tend to make with their manips is making the eyes too large.

Honestly? Head-wise, I wouldn’t change a single thing. At most, maybe smooth out the stitching. I wouldn’t even risk touching that nose, it could throw the whole damn thing off.

And, of course, the eyes stay as is.
The only thing I'd change is the ears. In certain shots they look pretty cool but in others the silhouette makes them look more like antennas.

Count me on the "no new batsuit for the sequel" team as I don't think the costume needs to be drastically altered. More specifically, I don't want it to evolve for that Batman to become too high-tech.
What would be interesting to me though, is to see the suit being more damaged and dirty to signify the escalation of violence in Gotham highlighted in the final dialogue with Catwoman. That would also be a nice way to naturally add scallops to the cape...

Just out of curiosity, I quickly reworked the costume to try those few adjustments and do some more that I wouldn't mind such as:
- A simplified version of the forearms, which I didn't disliked in the movie, but felt a bit too bulky to my tastes in some shot/stills.
- A slight adjustment to the cape so it come down a bit more on the shoulders.

Since I was at it, I've made a few other minor alterations. Nothing that bothers me in the original design, just some more exploration:
- A very slight reshaping of the ears to make them more classic.
- A polished surface logo on the chest.

EDIT:
Oh yeah, I also changed the color palette a bit to something more...cold.
Like that, for no particular reason... :oldrazz:

The only thing I would maybe change is the flat nose to something more classic and pointy. But then, I’ve kinda grown to like the flat nose style they went with

Nah, that nose is sexy.

Pointy nose also constricts the actor... that's half the issue with Bale's voice.

Wow! That looks perfect and pretty much exactly what I hope we see in the sequel. I don’t want a completely new suit, just a few minor changes to show that he’s growing and adapting. This suit would look sick in a swowy/winter gotham setting

yeah, I honestly dig it. I wouldn’t complain if it changed, but I definitely don’t think it’s necessary. It looks great as is.

It’s funny, at the beginning I thought it was kind of an ugly cowl, but now is one of my absolute favourites. It’s so unique.

I definitely feel like we'll get a new batsuit I just don't think it will be drastically different. Small updates here and there but the same DNA through out like the way they handled caps suit (excluding the Avengers suit.)

Oooooo me likey!

Only additions I'd honestly want is for the cape to go over the shoulders in front of his body ala the Arkham suit, finned gauntlets and maybe a bronzeish tint to the belt. I don't want full blown vibrant yellow, something along the lines of the BvS belt would be perfect.

Otherwise yeah, this is basically perfect. It's the exact same design philosophy as the upgrades made from the SM1 to SM2 suit, which is exactly what The Batman 2's suit needs

Thanks, very happy you like what I did. :yay:

@Scorpio Exactly. I find it more interesting to see the costumes evolve, in small steps, echoing the story than the eternal gimmick of new movie/new costume.
And if Reeves and his associates decide to place the film in a renewed colorful atmosphere, that alone will anyway bring freshness to an already known costume.

@DeadlyWest I actually thought about playing with a gold/bronze shade for the belt but finally did nothing with it as I love that big busy thing as it is.
But thinking about it now, just replacing the silver elements with something gold would have done the trick. I wouldn't mind that variation neither!

Yep, and that's exactly why I immediately loved the cowl and this nose in particular.
Beyond the fact that it references Nicholson's bandage in Chinatown, an influence claimed by Reeves, I find it very strong to incorporate such a new and distinctive element on an already iconic costume like Batman's. I could quickly sketch out the character's head and simply add that small square for the nose to make this version instantly recognizable. That's great design to me.

Also, and perhaps more superficially, I find it amusing how this flat nose is quite reminiscent of Pattinson's, in a similar way the eyebrows of Keaton's mask also seemed to echo his real face.
