Secret Invasion Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion General Discussion Thread

Yep, but definitely avoid spoilers!

I watched it. Not sure how I feel about the ending.
I don’t know much about skrulls so I have some research to do

I don't read the comics, but can the Skrulls replicate aliens who don't look human? If so, could they replicate the likes of Korg, Miek, Groot, Rocket and Cosmo?

Yes they can transform to look like anything biological or inanimate objects.

It’s safe to say the MCU name isn’t what it used to be

Me right now, as a massive fan of the MCU:

I dunno but honestly it didn’t seem to have a lot of promotion behind it

Good lord, they deserve all the hate for that AI opening. God, it was so typical AI as well. How did it get approved?

I seriously like the intro. AI or not AI doesn’t matter. And Olivia Coleman is such a delight, I hope she and JLD will meet in another project.

ΤΒF, this was by far the least flashy TV project announced by Marvel. It's not even headlined by a superhero. Even if Marvel was in better shape this would still have been their least popular series.

Plus, didn't Disney+ shed a bunch of subscribers over the past year?
So the chances of this hitting Loki's numbers wasn't just a long shot, it may actually be impossible

I kinda get the concept of letting an AI do the intro in a show where not everyone is what it seems, where there's an outside factor, people in the shadows... I don't know. There's something not quite right in that intro and I feel like that's what they were going for.

That violence in episode 2 makes me a bit more hopeful about DareDevil now. I don't think we've seen that level in the MCU before, well at least not recently.

I'm not surprised about the low numbers. The MCU shows haven't been great, just like the movies after Endgame. People have been burned too many times.

It disturbs me how arrogant and disrespectful Rhodey acted in front of the European representives.

Maria Hill died (for real, I think) and Fury doesnt really give a f***, instead he and Talos discuss his absense. It feels like I missed a movie or TV show somehow. What is going on? Im sure, there will be some flashbacks, but I am really confused..

The mashine they are working on, will allow the skrulls to copy the power of the target as well is my guess.

So the machine the Skrulls are building is for:

Super Skrulls, right? First thought that came to mind.

I enjoyed this newest episode a bit more than the first episode, but man I really can't put my finger on it but something just feels really off about this show overall and I can't decide what it is.

Maybe its some of the wonky structure/dialogue or how some scenes or edited but something about it is just off putting to me but that being said there's definitely plenty of good stuff in there too.

Ben Mendelsohn and Don Cheadle are the MVP's of this show so far for me because I really love there interactions with Nick Fury and the action sequence towards the end was pretty well done.

The brutal bits of violence is definitely a nice, effective touch.

Oh, for sure.

They're using other characters as replacement since we don't have F4 yet.

Groot = Mr. Fantastic
Cull Obsidian = The Thing
Frost Beast = Invisible Woman
Extremis = Human Torch

Now for the season finale, at the very least Rhodey has to suit up. Or else how the hell are they winning against a Super Skrull :skull:

That would also help him "redeem" himself for Armor Wars (he's clearly not evil, but is serving as a sort of antagonist going against Nick), setting up him against the government using Tony's tech.

Only other hero I can see showing up could be Monica, and that's a big maybe, considering the finale of WandaVision and how this could lead up to The Marvels.

By the way, no Episode 2 Discussion thread yet? :frown:

What a casual way to let us know there's millions of Skrulls already on earth. And 2000 (x3 according to Rhodes) deceased people?! Wow. Way bigger trouble was caused with less casualties in CW.

The violence was quite graphic. There was a similar scene with a finger being cut by Mama Mabel in Luke Cage, and even that one I believe wasn't as explicit.

They should have called it Nick Fury. Or Nick Fury: Secret Invasion.

Echo is gonna do worse later this year, huh?
