I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

All that wait for Reeves and Tomlin to write the script, only to end up with a rehash of the first film... pff... :o

“I have no idea what the **** is going on with The Batman 2. I may have to start putting out the feelers to find out what the hell is going on with DC” -Jeff Sneider

Gunn has **** on lockdown.

But seriously, if production starts in August then maybe this month is when news will start trickling in.

That Sneider dude is always hilarious to me for some reason. It's like if he doesn't know what's going on, something must be afoot.

I believe Matt is already mid-preproduction. And, Pattinson/Fraser/Giacchino (only - production wise) have read the script.

They probably don't need to scout much, and probably have most new locations locked down.

Matt is a king on this type of stuff, if you paid attention to the initial process for The Batman.

He's probably has a list of new actors locked to 1-3 options and are just waiting on crossing some i's and dotting t's before finalizing them.

He's got his in-house team pretty close. It's like with Nolan...

Rumors and leaks won't start until they are mostly filming on location.

I truly think part of the hold up is them having to finish up the penguin. I don't think Reeves wants to put out a bad product related to this franchise so it makes sense to want to finish that up so he can then turn his attention to the sequel.

Especially if they are already cutting the episodes together, Reeves will get a good sense of the series and what works.

Barry Keoghan is gonna be on Hot Ones tomorrow.

HBO is partnering with Mattson Tomlin, an in-demand scribe who did uncredited work on Matt Reeve’s The Batman and co-wrote its upcoming sequel The Batman Part II. He also co-wrote the upcoming Keanu Reeves action film BRZRKR and the upcoming video game adaptation Mega Man.

Off topic, but Mattson is starting a new project. I wish this was a good sign that maybe The Batman Part II script is completed or close being done.

Or he starts after this script is done in 8 months. :csad:

They should have Pattinson play Aegon just so I can get an extra kick out of the meltdowns here.

I know y’all are feeling it right now, but I’m going to look through the day the initial Pattinson report hit in 2019, so I can see the way y’all were falling to pieces when it wasn’t confirmed after one day.

You know… for perspective.

Well that's not encouraging. But I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say I think it'll still start filming by the fall.

Well if Tomlin is going to start working on GoT soon (I don't think the article mentioned that so it's just a guess) then it's one of two possibilities: 1. The script is finished; or 2. Another writer is being brought on.

You can work on multiple projects at once as a writer. You’re just sitting in front of the computer!

Yeah I think we might be reading a little much into this. Writing isn't exactly a process with a set method and I'm pretty sure most writers are usually doing multiple projects to varying degrees.

It's legitimately hype killing that it's taking this long before we hear anything, but as I've reiterated? This has the context to be one of if not the greatest comic book adaptation of all time.

Let them cook.

And Matt wears things close to his chest, has a tight pre-production team/process.

Once the gate is unlocked, it'll be non-stop information.

CALM down.

Given Sneider’s general persona, I wouldn’t be surprised if that post was more saying “I don’t have the inside line about this movie and that irks me to no end” rather than “There’s no movement happening.”

Tomlin is also a writer who is extremely busy with tons of genre projects. He worked on that Terminator anime series too.

I think he's basically the new Goyer. :joking:
