Xbox Xbox Series X Thread

Congrats! Can’t wait for the day when I can say the same

Awesome! Congrats!!
Thanks, guys! I got extremely lucky on this. Just happened to sit down at my computer and check Target's site when I saw it in stock. Tried multiple times to order it from my local Target just down the street. But naturally, by the time I go through the whole checkout process, it says unavailable.

The Target in a city 40 minutes away said it had 2 left in stock. So I tried to order from there and got it on my first try. Then, I had to drive through pouring rain to pick it up. And when I got home, I got my 2nd Covid shot.

I've been pretty sick these past few days after that shot, so I haven't had a chance to test out my new Series X. But, on the plus side, at least the box is nice!! :)

Oh, and after going through it twice with both the PS5 and the Series X, I NEVER want to play this game of russian roulette trying to order/preorder a console again. This **** needs to be fixed!!

Ha, crazy! I doubt too many have done it for both consoles. I couldn't be bothered with any of that. A friend told me the Microsoft site had some going and I instantly tried to buy and it worked. So just luck for me as well. No way I was going to try queueing or anything competitive, especially with bots and scalpers out there. Have you still got your PS5 as well? Keeping both?

Hell yeah I still have my PS5! And for the amount of **** and hassle it took to get both, I am going to keep both!

The way I see it is like this. With the shifting landscape of mergers, acquisitions, and exclusivity deals, I'll have all my bases covered by owning all of the consoles.

Nice. Definitely the best place to be with having both. The later part of this generation I think could be quite unpredictable. You are seriously committing to gaming then haha. Congrats and hope you very much enjoy both!

Haha. I wouldn't say it's a matter of being seriously committed/dedicated to gaming. If I look at my decision to get a Series X strictly through that lens, then I'd say it was kind of an impulsive, impractical decision. I know my time commitment to gaming is definitely NOT going to go up in the future, yet I still ended up getting both next gen consoles.

I'd say it was more a matter of covering all my bases and being able to enjoy any game that interests me. I recognize that the industry landscape is changing with all these mergers, acquisitions, and exclusivity deals. And that will likely only increase going forward. As you said, the latter half of this gen could be something, and that is where Xbox could really start to shine.

Though, now that I own a Series X, I do hope Xbox has some unannounced surprise releases for both 2021 and 2022. I've heard rumors that Forza Horizon 5 and Starfield could be 2021 releases; both would certainly be welcome news. The PS5 has a pretty solid 2021 lineup. So, Xbox needs to have a few more games this year besides Halo Infinite (which was supposed to be last year). And then they need to have solid games out in 2022. And then the "big" games like Fable and Elder Scrolls and the like can start releasing in 2023 and beyond.

Also, I would say another factor that influenced my decision was the scarce, limited supply and overall hassle of getting these new consoles. Since they are so hard to order, I jumped on the opportunity when it presented itself. And now that I've secured both consoles, I no longer have to waste my time and energy performing the daily ritual of checking tracker sites, refreshing multiple retailer sites, and playing silly checkout games when orders do go live.

On the back of the pc store cut. Good news for devs if it happens.

The Series X doesn't really have true next-gen exclusives yet (unfortunately), like a Demon's Souls Remake, Returnal, or Ratchet and Clank.

Given that, are there any recent multiplat games released that you would recommend to a new Series X owner that would best show off the power of the console?

Just really want MS to release a dongle that allows cloud and direct console streaming so I can do so from upstairs on my other TV.

That's surely on the cards as part of the cloud rollout, although they might just have an app on smart TVs too.

New rumors have both The Coalition and Bethesda respectively working on an unannounced title.

The Coalition is Working on Gears 6 and Another Project That is Likely a New IP – Rumour

I’d heard about The Coalition working on another project but not Bethesda. As long as ES VI doesn’t get delayed as a result I’m all for it. If Starfield is as good as Skyrim and Fallout 3/NV, then they are going to have to juggle 3 huge franchises that take years of Dev time each even without any new IPs. Hope they are staffing up with that Microsoft budget!

apparently Series outsold Ps5 in the U.K last month
True, but supply related again. I look forward to when supply issues are no longer relevant so we can see how much demand there really is for these next gen consoles. I think it's going to be a massive generation for all 3 console manufacturers.

supply related issues may go on for another year, Sony basically said it will

Yeah, not looking like ending anytime soon. Will be hard to get an overview of real underlying demand until that's resolved unfortunately. I'll be glad when everyone who wants a next gen console can just walk into a shop and buy one whenever they want.

At least I finally got added to the wait list instead of just being told to “keep checking the website”

who knows when that's gonna be...I think within 2014 the Ps4 was easier to get. I guess the pandemic makes it that much harder

I'm thinking about buying XBox Series X. So, I'm glad that I've found this thread. Also, I've already looked through the reviews and found out other people's opions. Most of them said that if you're after one Xbox to rule them all, then the Xbox Series X is the console to get. Speaking about the cons of this model, people say that it is large and heavy (is not a problem for me) and there are few next-gen launch games.
Yeah that’s about right. Series X is also a beast of a backwards compatible box which is even better combined with gamepass. I love the design too. It will come into its own once all the first party studios start delivering.

Feels like a year away but very hard to predict with all this unmet pent up demand for many products that require components.
