Universal has decided to abandon those direct-to-video “American Pie” spin-off films in favour of making a third sequel to the original film – one that might possibly pick up on the whereabouts of now-married Jim and Michelle (Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan). Like the other three, it’ll be released theatrically.
The success of the direct-to-video spin-off films (“American Pie : Band Camp”, “American Pie : Naked Mile” and “American Pie : Beta House” – all featuring Eugene Levy) has Uni thinking it might be time to return the series to its roots – alas, it’s back to Jim, Michelle, Finch, Stifler (though personally I doubt Seann William Scott will return) and whoever else can be roped back into the fruity follow-up.
One can only assume that this fourth direct sequel would centre on Jim and Michelle having kids – with token words of advice from the weird and wild father (Eugene Levy), of course – or the duo going through some kind of hiccup in their marriage? Then again, maybe they’ll drop those characters and fix on one of the supporting characters, say Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) or even, Oz (Chris Klein), who didn’t return for the last sequel?
Nobody’s been roped into doing the film yet – but I can’t imagine Jason Biggs would knock it back – but “American Pie 4” is said to be inching forward so expect to hear something officialish soon.
The first “American Pie”, released in 1999, made nearly over $235 million dollars in its run.

Enough with the sequels

I've been assuming they would do one more movie with Alyson Hannigan and Jason Biggs having a kid.

Unless Alyson Hannigan goes nude I'm not watching it

It should be centred around a funeral, and feature Tara Reid's soon-to-be OD'd corpse.

I actually like the DTV spin offs. They're not good by anymeans, but when you're high it can make crap with boobs worth watching. Band Camp was pretty good. I really like that movie. And The Naked Mile was okay also.

Oh my God... no one gave two s***s about the first AP, why the hell have there been so many sequels?!

Alyson Hannigan might not even come back for this, with How I Met Your Mother being a success.

According to imdb.com, $235,483,004 (Worldwide) on an $11 million budget.
The second one made $287,500,000 (Worldwide) on a $30 million budget.
The third one made $231,002,553 (Worldwide) on a $55 million budget.

All were very profitable.

Well it does have the potential to be yet another paycheck for her. That's about the only logical reason I could see her at least considering coming back.

heard about this a few weeks back, but the latest news i rememer reading like a week or so ago was this feature film isnt likely going to happen. But they are planning another film but not featuring ap1-3 characters. Also to be more like the first three then the last few dtv films.

I'm surprisingly happy about this. I enjoyed the first three and the Band Camp movie is a guilty pleasure.

The first three are under-rated. All you have to do is watch other movies that tried to copy the American Pie formula *cough*College*cough* and you can see how well they did what they did.

I remember back in 1999, American Pie was the last movie I ever wanted to see. A stupid raunchy comedy about Abercrombie and Fitch wearing white dudes from the suburbs....what the **** would I want to see that for?

Then I went to see it at the beginning of the school year....one of the funniest things ever. The sequels...not so much.

The only way for a sequel to go is to have Jim and his friends grown up...Jim's dad as a grandfather, and their kids learning about sex.

That's one way to go, but the other way to go is clearly to have Jim and Michelle ready to have a baby. Jason Biggs is only 30, how old would his kid be in the movie?

Be like Brendan Fraser in the third Mummy...he looks 30, but he's really like 50-something. :o

I can't see Hannigan agreeing to it. She is kind of hot right now (not in that way pervs). She is on one of highest rated comedies in the country which is also a critical darling. Why risk damaging that by a movie that could possibly bomb and will almost definitely get critically trashed.

They could always film it during down season for How I Met Your Mother, by the way, LOVE that show. Hannigan could find the time to do it. Trust me, if there's a will there's a way.

And if the movie bombed, it wouldn't hurt her career at all. If the "One Time, At Band Camp..." line didn't hurt her, a bad movie won't do such luck either.

But where would it go? Logical things would to expand into the 'married' life and how it could affect the friendship of the group when this 'couple' stray from the others or something. Throwing a child into the mix would be a cheap mix of other films like that that have came out since 'AP'.

Of course she could find time. Its a comedy with no SFX. It would take six weeks for her to film. I'm not saying she can't do it. I'm saying she shouldn't do it.
