Coronavirus outbreak

"Anytime this virus mutates, it could acquire more concerning mutations and the new variant has mutations that not only seem to render it more capable of spreading effectively but also seem to also give it the ability, potentially, to evade the immune system," Dr. Nick Gilpin, Medical Director of Infection Prevention for Beaumont Health, told Newsweek.

I've officially reached the point when if a planet killing asteroid was going to hit earth I'd die with a smile knowing that the fallout would scorch that son of a ***** COVID from the surface of the earth.

This little ****er seems to find just the right way to thumb its nose at us and our defenses.

Ron Desantis just doesn’t care about killing kids as long as he’s in good graces with the Anti-Vaxxers who make up a huge chunk of the GOP.

^^ All of these stories of anti-vaxxers/anti-maskers has me convinced they were all messed up in the head to begin with. I guess it took a pandemic to reveal how many of them there are, and the extent of their psychotic/sociopathic behavior.

You don't hear stories like this of vaxxed/pro-mask people doing anything to get in the news.

In the States this has been building for decades.

My own theory is we were headed towards this in a more manageable if still tragic way back all the way in the 1990's.

Waco standoff.

The Oklahoma City bombing.

The Atlanta Olympic Bombing.

Things were rough and then came the election of 2000 and the divisions down there. W. Bush got a reprieve from resistance to him in office after 9/11 and that's when and how the turn happened with these folks.

The War on Terror was what distracted the home grown RWNJs and their culture for about a decade. Remember when all the talking was about terrorism and how much Liberals hated America and were siding with terrorists if you didn't fall into lock step with the GOP and Bush?

In the aftermath the distraction of killing brown people of a different religion faded and they are now back to viewing their fellow Americans as unworthy and internal enemies whose every move however benign is secretly part of a literal satanic plan to destroy the U.S. based of course upon... Nothing.

Then a Liberal Black man was elected POTUS and that made it clear to their minds how much more dangerous the near enemy (Liberals/Progressives/Hispanic immigrants/LGBTQ/Feminists/Scientists/anyone not in the old white male demo that makes up the Republican Party and the Conservative Libertarian Evangelical movement in this country) was more important in confronting than the far enemy (Muslims, whether extremists or not/The NWO whatever it is this week/China/The U.N./France... The list is pretty long...) when it came to politics and culture.

But this is the mindset that makes it impossible to protect public health and safety better than we are right now because these people have decided to live in a delusion of epic proportions combined with a deeply and still festering disdain for anyone that can't measure up to the standards they have set for who is or isn't a legitimate American.

And so they don't care about 6000,000 dead people or shattered families.

These folk have been primed to be a poison pill in any efforts to douse the fire of the pandemic for decades now and the worst part is we have to deal with the consequences of their selfish short sighted delusions.

Rolling Stone - Big Mad Anti-Vaxxers Are Planning a Walkout — and It’s Flopping

When President Biden announced last night that his administration would be instituting vaccine mandates for up to 100 million Americans, no one expected anti-vaxxers and far-right extremists to be particularly happy. Yet one would’ve thought they would’ve organized something a little better than this.

In response to Biden’s mandate, which requires that federal employees be vaccinated against Covid-19 or be subject to weekly testing, anti-vaxxers predictably became enraged, swapping calls for revolution and uprising and sharing template forms for how to request religious exemptions from their employers. (He also announced that workers at companies with more than 100 employees would be subject to vaccine requirements, though they will have the option of weekly testing, instead.)
One far-right influencer who appeared to have been particularly enraged by the mandate was Ron Watkins, the former administrator of the message board and bastion of far-right extremism 8chan (Watkins is also widely believed to be “Q,” the anonymous poster responsible for promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory; prior to being suspended from Twitter in January for promoting QAnon, Watkins had a large following on Twitter and was occasionally retweeted by former President Trump. He has since pivoted to spamming subscribers and ranting about UFOs.) Last night, he posted a video on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, where he has more than 420,000 subscribers, with the caption “Info coming soon. #TheGreatAmericanWalkout,” showing off posters with the slogan “No forced vaccinations.”

Earlier today, Watkins posted a flier for #TheGreatAmericanWalkout, encouraging Americans “willing to stand against forced vaccinations” to walk out of their jobs and schools in protest between September 11 and September 14. “God has given us inalienable rights and freedoms. With increasingly tyrannical mandates, they are trying to take your God given rights away from you. Now we STAND UP to tell them NO,” he wrote. Watkins also posted the contact information for a print shop in San Diego where people participating in the protest could print out banners and fliers. (Watkins did not immediately return a request for comment.)

Spanish Flu circled the globe for close to three years.
