DCAU: Adventures in the New Frontier is Coming in 2009!

Attention Hypesters:

Like the retiring Marvel Spotlight, I hope you guys have enjoyed the DC Animated Showcase over the years at the Hype. But now, the fanfic series is evolving, as both the Showcase and The Brave and the Bold are retiring (because of the latter's Cartoon Network series already on the air) to make way for a fanfic anthology series inspired by Justice League: The New Frontier, and its comic-book counterpart, DC: The New Frontier called: DCAU: Adventures in the New Frontier: The Animated Anthology Series!

Like the DC Showcase, this series features everyone in both the DC and the Hanna-Barbera/Ruby-Spears/Cartoon Network Studios universe! So expect original and next-generation versions of your favorite H-B and R-S superheroes, in addition to appearances from Ben 10, Megas XLR, and even the Secret Saturdays and the Hex Girls!

Also, look for a new fifth-week series called My Greatest Adventure, which features a mish-mash of episodes featuring your favorite cartoon and comic book superheroes in interesting episodes!

So look for this new series on January 15, 2009

Episode One: I Double Dare You, Dicky-Boy!

Dick makes his return to the Haly Circus. But this time, he is its new owner! And he is about to establish its new base of operations in Bludhaven! But, as the performers join forces with the tenants of Dick's apartment complex to establish new living quarters, Dick and Miranda Kane come face to face with a duo of circus-acrobat sisters named Margot and Aliki Marceau (voiced by real-life sisters Jennifer and Ashley Tisdale) who are a new act called Double Dare! But, these girls are not only drop-dead gorgeous, they are international thieves, and that's got Nightwing bewitched, bewildered and bothered! But, when the Marceau sisters cross paths with the superstrong Blockbuster after stealing a rare series of artwork from his home, they become the targets of Desmond's hitmen, forcing Nightwing to rescue them from the assassination attempt in this episode!

Episode Two: The Devlin Connection

A 35-year-old, long-forgotten animated series returns, but makes its primary debut in the DCAU, as Dick is reunited with an old circus stuntman friend of his named Ernie Devlin (Sam Witwer), who's now working for King Faraday (Phil Morris) and the Central Bureau of Investigations! He needs Nightwing's help in stopping an international torturer named Brutale (Benicio Del Toro), who's killing political prisoners opposed to a ruthless South American dictator. But, Devlin's motorcycle and martial-arts skills are put to the test when his sister Sandy (Allison Mack) and brother Todd (Aaron Ashmore) are Brutale's next targets, bringing Ernie and Dick into a mission with Faraday to rescue Ernie's family in this thrilling episode! Plus, who is the Golden Claw, and what's her connection to not only Devlin, but Roxy Rocket and a legendary race that was founded by her family in the 1920's, and is about to debut in Bludhaven? More Hanna-Barbera goodness for the next generation coming next episode!

Episode Three: Nightwing and the Perils of Penelope Pitstop

Dick Grayson and Ernie Devlin may have stopped Brutale last episode, but that's nothing compared to the shock the two men are about to get when Roxy Rocket arrives at Dick's apartment with her best friend, a beautiful blonde actress and stuntwoman named Penelope Ann Devlin (Laura Vandervoort), who happens to be Ernie's wife! This leads Nightwing to his own family legacy and its connection to the Devlins, Suttons, and several families connected to an 80-year-old motorsports competition founded by members of Penelope's family that is about to make its debut in Bludhaven! But the real shock to Nightwing's system is that these Wacky Races may have lead to the founding of the first Haley Family Circus! That's especially true when Penelope shows Dick, Ernie, and Roxy her grandmother's family album, revealing the relationship between Penelope Haley, the first Penelope Pitstop, and the creator of the first Flying Graysons trapeze act, James Richard Grayson! Plus, wait until you witness Penelope Devlin's new alter-ego: the Golden Claw, an updated superhero version of another ancestor of hers, the original Hooded Claw! It's a revelation that will shake the foundations of the Batman and Hanna-Barbera universes in more ways than one in this episode

Episode Four: The Wacky Races Come to Bludhaven

Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy) guest stars in this episode where he, Tim and Barbara meet up with Dick and Miranda, as they introduce them to the Devlin family. But, as Bruce introduces himself to the beautiful Penelope Devlin, and Barbara meets the Devlin siblings, Bruce and Dick have an uneasy meeting with Roxy Rocket (Charity James), who has since reformed! But as Wayne Enterprises becomes the sponsor for the Gotham leg of the race, Roland Desmond is looking to ruin the Devlins' debut in Bludhaven, and the modern-day Wacky Races by hiring the murderous racer Gearhead (Will Friedle) to eliminate the participants, including Penelope and her cousins, who are members of the Pender (nee Pending) and Perfect families! But, the real test for the new Penelope Pitstop and Roxy Rocket is helping the Bat-family take down not only Gearhead, but the monstrous and nigh-intelligent Blockbuster in this thrill-a-minute episode!

Episode Five: Night of the Batwoman, Day of the Flamebird

We're gonna just ignore the events of that horrible DTV "Mystery of the Batwoman," and do something different with the Batwoman character, as Miranda Kane introduces you to her two sisters, older sister Katherine and younger sister Elizabeth, who are just entering the crimefighting game as they deal with the wily Killer Croc (Ron Perlman) inside the murky Slaughter Swamp! But, are they ready for not only Croc, but another denizen of that same swamp, Solomon Grundy (Mark Hamill), who could turn the girls into hamburger! Man, where are Batman and Nightwing when you need them! A fun episode for all!
