Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming to PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, and Halo: Reach will join the collection on both Xbox One and PC, publisher Microsoft and developer 343 Industries announced.

First released for Xbox One in November 2014, Halo: The Master Chief Collectioncurrently includes Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4.

On PC, rather than release with every game all at once, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will roll out one game at a time, starting with the newly announced Halo: Reach. The rest of the series will follow in chronological order.

On Xbox One, Halo: Reach will be released in two parts—the Campaign and Firefight experiences will be available as a premium add-on, while the multiplayer content (which includes Forge and the Theater) will be available as a free update. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have access to multiplayer without any additional purchases.

Release dates were not announced.

According to The Hollywood Reported, Seven Kane, the producer of The Last Ship and The Closer, has joined the upcoming Halo TV series as the second co-showrunner. He will work alongside Kyle Killen (Lone Star, Awake) on Showtime's adaptation of one of the most beloved franchised in video gaming.

As revealed by THR, the decision to bring in a second showrunner came from Killen, who wanted to focus more on the overall scale and budgeting Halo (including writing and producing), seeking a partner able to spend a big chunk of 2019 in Budapest, where principal photography is set to begin.

Considering that Showtime calls Halo its "most ambitious series ever," an extra pair of hands will definitely make the production easier. A total of nine episodes have been ordered for the show, but casting and a production start date have not yet been determined. According to Showtime, Halo will dramatize “an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant,” weaving “stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future."
