The Hype is generally fun and very good for news and discussion on films, games, comics etc. It's a useful platform for discussing pretty much any vague topic that you want (in community) and it's great to be able to speak to people all around the world. For me it's especially valuable for discussing minority interests for which it's very hard to find interested parties.

Hype taught me how to type. I'm at like, 121 WPM or something. And I totalllly am a better person because of this place. Better.
