java problem?

ok i have a big problem...

i can't view deviantart or youtube on any of my browsers (ie, firefox, opera). technically i can, but here's the deal:

dev art;
*can't fave,
*when i click full size on an image, takes me to 'page not found' page
*can't edit any of my deviations
* can't view galleries or favorites

youtube;
* can't view videos, what else is there to say?

i tried to uninstall my browsers, and i reinstalled them. no dice.
i deleted jave from my add/remove list in the CP, still nada

also, some vids on youtube tell me "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player. "

i go to said Flash Player Page and try to download it, but when i click download, the page just reloads.

help a gal out, will ya?

Can you boot into Safe Mode and try installing Flash from there?
You should have to run your computer in Safe Mode to do something like that, so something is wrong, but it should fix the issue for a while.

Say I reformat my hard drive, what's the best way to save my stuff so I can restore it afterwards?

compressing to a disk? or transferring it to my External Hard Drive. and if i do that, do i need to compress as well?

Have you uninstalled all Java and then re-downloaded it and installed?

After uninstalling any software, I always go in and delete any folders that may have been left behind and then I run regcleaner to get the last of it gone for sure.

I use CCleaner at work on some machines. It works pretty good.

well, looks like the only thing left to do is reformat.

i've put all my important stuff on an external hard drive and have deleted most of the programs and stuff on my computer. and i've run Ccleaner to try and delete some of the stuff I may have missed.

i was looking for my xp cds and havent found them yet. Will i need them to reformat or is there another way to reinstall Windows after?

if anyone can direct me to a link or something or tell me how to reformat without screwing up i'd really appreciate it.

You will need the XP cd to re-install windows. Have you never re-formatted before?

Wish I could do it for you that way there are no mistakes. I have multiple WinXP disks too. I love imaging drives.

I still think reformatting is extreme for this situation.
