I have a feeling that Paramont is either gonna drop Ninja Turtles all together or fire Jonathan Leisbman.
I doubt that. If anything they are just hesitant to start production till they get their eggs in order. Considering how many properties they've lost recently, I see this more as a star trek situation more than anything. They've given the film a very strong release date, it's clear they not only have faith in the project but they also want it to do well(it's their next big thing). Makes sense they take their time(not everyone can do what Vaughn does with time).
Moreover Paramount wouldn't mess with Bay in such a way, not at this point.
They should also get rid of Michael Bay. Because that script was Transformers but with the Alien Turtles. Michael Bay can whine all he wants. But that was all him clearly. If I had to choose between a Michael Bay's Alien Turtles movie & no movie ? Then I choose no movie easily
psst, bay didn't write the TF treatment, it was developed by many people. For example, Spielberg had the property in dev. long before bay ever showed up(oh that's right, Spielberg had something to do with that crap? yea but he was only producer...you know like Bay is now). If anything, considering the success of TF and the similar 'properties' it has to the playmates toy line a logical pathway to explain that treatment that was leaked is that the Studio paid for and oversaw a script similar in nature to the other huge property that they already own they own. It's so simple as fans on the outside to see a similar name involved and make that immediate jump, but it's petty imo.
It's like fans seeing superman with a beard and trying to find himself and going, hey that must literally be Nolan's doing. Yes cause Nolan is some sort of single minded one trick pony that can only approach stories in one way and no one else in creative power would think to do it. I'm sure if Nolan produced the next blade movie he would have a beard and be trying to find himself.
long story short, fans will be fans.
but I digress.
I'm rooting for every film I listed I don't care about the bay hate or the love for the spirit of this project. Releasing this and Ninja Turtles on the same date is going to get executives fired. If turtles does even half of TF's business(and with that treatment it will do at least that), than this Godzilla film, coming off of the success of the last one will suffer big time...especially with the kids/families (where Avengers trounced Batman soundly). Ironically, I don't see how Godzilla can be any more interesting than a Battle LA, big destruction visuals and the promise of no tangible character work(at lest the kids can get behind shia and bee and the turtles..etc. The month of may has several dates to choose from and that's what I find funny about how WB has been approaching this. Thank goodness they avoided this silliness with MOS.
I'm very curious who's going to be the leads in Godzilla. People may hate that about TF but it's the burden every live action film faces. Bay works around this at the sneering of fan boys. A live action film needs human stars for a few reasons, one of the biggest is for the press circuit. Optimus can't be making jokes and telling dumb to letterman and I don't see Godzilla doing it either. Films such as Avengers and LOTR work around this in a much more seamless way.
As for Xmen, it's the sequel to a very successful reboot picture with strong name recognition. History has shown us that these films tend to be huge. It's the same reasoning that says Trek and Apes are going to be huge. Moreover, the ambition I'm seeing coming from that X project and Vaughn at the helm, Hobbit(yes also being in the same position) would be hurt, significantly. If anything this past summer the benefits of spreading the heavy hitters apart. If only ASM had come out a month earlier...
Hangover may be a huge title(though it's bound to do that second sequel type performance), the F&F property is stronger than it's ever been at the moment. And its' gunning for the same audience too. Not the comedy audience but who do you think watches R rated comedies such as Hang? Not old folks and not kids.
