Much love to the costume designers. It’s all old baggy suits and wrinkles. I mentioned in the Catwoman thread about how her look at the funeral is borderline camp. The commissioners serial killer glasses. It immediately separates it from Nolan.
It's that 80s aesthetic, man. It is perfect for Gotham/Batman. Old timey and grimey in some ways, but also theatrical and over the top as well.
I also love the fact that Durran, being a British costume designer who has worked on numerous period pieces and is therefore very knowledgeable about the classic rules of menswear, seems to be following everything I said two posts up about how Bruce should not wear black in daylight, but instead dark greys and blues in accordance with the fashion rules of the old money, upper class. I'm so pleasantly surprised to see that Bruce is not wearing black at the funeral scene but instead various shades of dark charcoal grey and possibly some charcoal navy. A funeral is traditionally the only time when it is appropriate for a pale white guy to dress in a black suit in daylight and instead Durran dresses him in dark grey, which gives the effect of black, but is more flattering.
