EPISODE 13: "Memento Mori"

Use spoiler tags when discussing the events of any future episodes.

I couldn’t wait for something and skipped to the last episode to see it and
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

I feel cheated with that Jigsaw bs :funny:

That was lame.
I really wanted to see him all stitched up.

This show, damn.

The fact that he uses the Merry Go Round Mirrors to grind up Billys face at the end... Bravo

Awesome show. Just 13/13, this is my new favorite Marvel Netflix show.

So...Frank quits being the Punisher again, and he's going to group therapy. The government gives him a free pass. Just kill me now.

Ok I did not like that ending. At all.

The end was a graduation. It just means that when and if he wears the skull next, it will most certainly be full bore af.

^ Because that's not what this story was about.

This was a very good ending to the show. It had everything it needed. The standoff between Russo and Castle and the later fight were both well done. The second one was obviously pretty gruesome. But the idea of him becoming Jigsaw seems necessary (even if they don't use him again). There was also a solid catharsys after everything was said and done. This is a show that doesn't promise answers and doesn't give them, but I think it's better for it. Five Stars.

The last 6 episodes made up for the frustrating first 6 episodes for me...I swear I wanted to shoot myself everytime Frank went back for tea time at Sarah's. The stand off between Frank and Russo was indeed very well done, it was brutal and emotional. I don't look at it as Frank having quit being the Punisher again I think he might just be going on hiatus, I mean he's been through hell throughout this season after all lol the man can use a break.

What does full bore af look like to you over 13 episodes? I love the quiet before the storm character moments, it allowed us to get into Frank's headspace and connect even deeper with his worldview, not just turn NYC into a shooting gallery of revenge porn for 13 hrs.

Loved the ending, I thought it wouldnt get any better than episode 12 but this was really fitting and as brutal as you would want, a great stand-off and shoot-out/grudge fight that the show had been building to.

It was rather fitting that Castle managed to put back together a family like he lost, excellent finale.

I thought the ending was fine

Frank accomplished what he set out to do which was avenger his families death. It doesn't mean we he won't be the Punisher again. Something always comes along to drag him back into action. We saw him do it in the first episode when he saved the young man from being murdered by his construction worker gang cohorts.

Kingpin and Russo/Jigsaw are still alive and kicking as well.

This season was a perfect set up for the character. I'm not saying the next season has to be wall to wall action, but they can certainly now take it there. As a whole the season was perfect, but now they should up the stakes just a little bit. There are stories to draw inspiration from. Instead of having the tension come from the slow development of Frank's retribution, we could have a plot develop separate of Frank that he is then thrust upon.

What we now know is that Frank is has has some closure and doesn't harbor the same antipathy towards all the parties involved. In the comics it can be easily dismissed that he is just human. These are still very much Frank's first steps in vigilantism, but he is no stranger to being The Punisher. During the season we were shown here and there that Frank has within him all the makings of the man we have been reading about. All of those things just have to find their way in the same frame. He knows the psychology of combat. He is able to read a situation to his advantage. He even states, as he is breaking down Rawlins, literally, that he is a reminder. Of what? That if you work for the devil, you must be ready to die for him. When he said that, he was no longer Frank Castle the man but The Punisher. After the smoke clears, he has to figure out his path. The therapy group is a brilliant plot device. There he might find it in himself that he is not without war after all. Through some degrees of separation, he might even pick up his next target.

Now that all this is out of the way, they are free to take the character to a more active direction. Perhaps more enemies and more skull. The human aspect was fine here so maybe not drop that. He would still have to interact with the world. I'm hoping they don't choose any arc to follow religiously but more like 1st season. Create something new that jives well. Definitely bring some characters over but why would I want to watch something I've already read panel for panel when the option is a fresh take faithfully exceuted? I could see Frank cleaning up a neighbourhood and maybe mixing up with some government action. Other than that, I'll leave it in the hands of the creator. He has proven himself worthy of my trust.

Lets cover some of the MAX series, like Black is White/ Up is Down, Slavers, Widowmaker, Man of Stone would be awesome to tie into the Afghanistan content again.

It doesn't really feel as much like Frank Castle and Punisher anymore.

What do you mean doesn't give answers? All the answers were effectively given.

Slavers could definitely strech out for 13 episodes, weaving in Russo's recovery and beginning as Jigsaw. Not a fan of Nicky Cavella but Russo being a bastard son of a mob boss would make for an interesting twist. What I would like to see is the introduction of Frank's internal monologue. Maybe first as a part of processing the seesions with fellow veterans and later extended into the Punisher actions, if it feels organic enough.

I thought the show ended just fine for how things went.

I did think they were gonna kill Billy off. So, it should be interesting to see what they do with him in the future. And of course Frank himself since he’s got the revenge he wanted. He should have at least gotten some food from Micro and his family. Maybe even have Micro make him a nice sandwich to go.

He'll be back. Frank and killing can't escape each other anymore than Carol and killing far as Walking Dead's concern

Now that you mention , it would work. Jigsae having Cavilla's role to some degree [BLACKOUT] (sans the incest)[/BLACKOUT]

im fine with the ending, the group sessions are clearly going to br used to show that eventho frank has avenged his family he still cant escape the war raging inside of him. the show was pretty good at showing that frank cant get past the violence. episode 12 showed this when he refused to let go and be with his wife and stating that he was home

Finally finished last night! Solid series overall with some great episodes after the halfway point. There were some thing I didn't like but Bernthal is perfect as Punisher and I really love Micro as a character.

yknow at the end of ep 12 and Billy Russo still got his pretty face i was wondering if we'd only see the birth of Jigsaw next season :O they reserved ep13 all for him awwww :awesome:

yeah that was a bit of poetic justice if ever i saw one. [BLACKOUT]same way with how Agent Orange met his end.[/BLACKOUT]

this got me wondering though:
with Micro being back with his fam how is he gonna help Frank or any of the Defenders (if ever) with the techie things without risking his family's location? when he was still going solo if his location is compromised (as what happened) he can just up and leave no sweat. he cant do that if he has 2 kids and a wife to uproot in a moment's notice.
