Uhura seems to be the only one who can hear a strange sound. When the noise triggers terrifying hallucinations, she enlists an unlikely assistant to help her track down the source.

Laughing, as if the showrunners knew exactly what people would think when screenshots of this scene came out.

"One moon circles."

(With a bit of "And I don't find your modesty very convincing, brother. Of course you won the ribbon. You always did.")

Kirk and Spock meeting, not as part of some big dramatic moment, but just because Spock finds Sam annoying enough that he felt the need to vent to his brother is the kind of stuff I love to see, my favorite part of Trek has always been the small character moments. It's really neat to see something as significant as Kirk meeting Spock for the first time handled in such an understated manner. I like the way they're having Kirk slowly bond and build rapport with the crew, helps make him feel like the natural choice to eventually succeed Pike as captain of the Enterprise.

I didn't particulary love the story but I'm starting to love this Kirk, he's smooth.
Uhura, Spock, Kirk scene bonding at the bar table was nice.
When I see Kirk's brother with is 80' pornstach I think of Guy in Galaxy Quest, it's quite disturbing.

I still think this Kirk reminds me of Jim Carrey in looks, mannerisms and voice. Maybe Carrey can play George Kirk.

I enjoyed this episode as a followup to 1x09, which we didn't get much fallout of Hemmer's death. So, it was nice to finally see Uhura and Una having their issues with Pella.

And I do like Paul Wesley's Kirk. Its not a Shatner imitation, and they are playing up his less stereotypical traits. It helps that I am not to familiar with Kirk of TOS, more of the movie eras.

Spock continuing to clean up after Sam is perfect. And of course, Spirk starting with bonding over frustrations with Sam is just... fanfic heaven.

And I do love the episode ending with the shot of the future TOS characters.

And I did like Una and Pella driving each other crazy. Pella is a fun character.

James Kirk in this episode showed that he really believes what he’ll go on to proclaim in TOS (The City on the Edge of Forever): “Let me help. A hundred years or so from now, I believe, a famous novelist will write a classic using that theme. He'll recommend those three words even over I love you.”

When I see Kirk's brother with is 80' pornstach I think of Guy in Galaxy Quest, it's quite disturbing.

For anyone who reads Lois McMaster Bujold, It’s a lot like Mark Vorkosigan’s method of distinguishing himself from his brother Miles.

A solid episode and I liked the concept, but not quite as good as the previous one. Liked getting a proper follow-up on Hemmer's death.

Also, I'm finally beginning to see this Kirk as Kirk a little bit, so that's a plus.

The beginnings of TOS. Hope they bring in more TOS characters like Scotty and Sulu.
