The Holidays are coming up and everyone loves getting (and giving) presents.
For the older Hypesters you know exactly what this is all about as we use to do this every year (last time in 2008). For you younger group...GET OFF MY LAWN!!! But seriously, most people should know what a Secret Santa involves. If not, continue reading...if so, still continue reading...
You will be exchanging e-presents with your fellow SHH members. It's fun as long as everyone who signs up participates.
For those of you who don't know (get out from under the rock you're under), a Secret Santa involves giving a gift to someone randomly chosen for you. You may not even know them - that's the fun in it.
Sign up here if you're interested. When there are enough people (approx 20+), I'll send out the PMs telling you who to get your gift for.
This is usually done more sooner during the month but we are starting late this year because the idea just hit me. If it's a success I will host it next year and will do it much more earlier in the month. Considering we are tight in time I will have to put a deadline for sign-ups on Wednesday, December 19th at 9:00 p.m EST. I will pm your recipient's name shortly after and that will give you just under a week to make a present for your recipient.
The Rules:
1. There is no physical gift exchange. No money is to be spent, this is all about creativity. Create something visually exciting and AMAZING with your computer. Examples may include avatars, wallpaper, a photoshopped image, a song, a short story, a video...etc. The sky is the limits, and you are only limited by your imagination. If you are not good at photoshopping or graphics, there are plenty of websites out there that can help and there are plenty of other things you can do!
2. DO NOT REVEAL YOURSELF AS THE SECRET SANTA. Do not do so until Christmas Eve or Christmas Day (Dec. 24th or Dec 25th) when you post or pm your gift. If you will be away during this time please notify me by pm and we can make arrangements for you to either pm me the gift and I will post it on your behalf or you can post it early in the thread with my permission.
3. It has to be Hype appropriate and not break any rules (obviously).
4. You may post the gift in this thread (which is better) or pm your recipient directly. If you send them a pm, PLEASE notify us by posting in this thread you have done so, so we don't think you are a deadbeat.
5. You may not be familiar with the person you are assigned to at all. That's part of the fun! You have to investigate... interrogate their friends... read their profiles... become their creepy, gift creating stalker.
6. No re-gifting and no 'google searching the day of'. Try to put a little thought into it and do the homework.
7. After PM's are sent (I will send them around 10:00 pm Dec 19th) YOU CAN'T BACK OUT. Unless something absolutely horrible has happened to you, you're stuck doing it. Or you'll face my wrath and you will be blacklisted from any future gift exchanges.
I'll might step in and provide a gift for the left-out person if I have time available or if any of you are interested in providing a second gift for someone else please PM me and I will list you as a backup.
So just signup by posting in this thread and I will update the list as the names come in. So get off your ass and do something nice for the Holidays:
