think this will come to the US?

Of all the anime that could get popular outside Japan...

think this will come to the US?

it's very likely the anime did alot for this and the last game hallow fragment did really well that it's on a main console now.

It was the top-selling PSN Vita game for both Europe and North America back in August:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/09/08/playstation-store-augusts-top-sellers/

&
http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014...st-infamous-first-light-diablo-iii-ros-fight/

We don't yet know about the September listings posted, but it will be interesting to see how the game ranks in both regions.
Plus, on the North American storefront at least, the game is closing in in 2800 ratings.
As a point of comparison, the PSN listing for Persona 4 Golden has just over 4600 ratings - though that does not account for physucal copies of P4G sold.

though most will do the import and do the subbed version it's possible it do well for it self in North America

Bandai Namco was smart to pick up the license for Sword Art Online, an anime series that shares some themes in common with their own .hack series. Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment made its PlayStation Vita debut on April 24 in Japan.

Bandai Namco brought the game to the West in August as a PlayStation Network download. In addition to being translated into English, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment was also localized into Chinese. Altogether, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment shipped 400,000 units worldwide.

The next Sword Art Online game, Sword Art Online: Lost Song, is in development for PlayStation 3.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song Lets You Play As Other Characters Besides Kirito. October 14, 2014 . 7:30am

Additionally, there are land and sky battles in the game, both with their own fighting styles and you can also seamlessly switch between land and aerial combat.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment only allowed you to play as Kirito, or a modified version of him, but it doesn’t look like this will be the case in the upcoming action RPG, Sword Art Online: Lost Song. This week’s magazine reports share more details on the game. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]

Sword Art Online: Lost Song takes place on an unknown floating continent called Svartalfheim, that was implemented into ALO (ALfheim Online) as part of an update. It features areas such as grassy plains, deserts, and icebergs.

On your adventures, your party will consist of up to three characters, and you’ll get to play as characters other than Kirito. There are land and sky battles, both with their own fighting styles and you can also seamlessly switch between land and aerial combat.

While in mid-air, you’ll get to fly around in 360 degrees to freely go just about anywhere. Aerial attacks will be locked-on, but you can remove the lock-on to attack wherever you please as well.

One area is said to have the scale of about 4km (about 2.5 miles) and you can explore via the air or on land.

Just like Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment introduced Philia, Lost Song will introduce numerous new characters. While the report mentions that you can play as other character besides Kirito, it also says that Bandai Namco are also currently testing out an original avatars for the game.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song is slated for release in 2015 in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song Creators Talk About The Possibility Of An Original Hero. October 22, 2014 . 2:49am

In an interview with Dengeki, series creator Reki Kawahara and producer Yosuke Futami talk about the possibility of creating a new game for the series with an original protagonist
saols_05_cs1w1_720x_thumb.jpg

Bandai Namco’s upcoming action title, Sword Art Online: Lost Song will be another story about Kirito and friends. In an interview with Dengeki, series creator Reki Kawahara and producer Yosuke Futami talk about the possibility of creating a new game for the series with an original protagonist.

During the interview, Dengeki mentions that there are probably many fans of the series who’d like to freely enjoy the worlds of SAO and ALO with their own avatars, and asks the reason they decided to go with Kirito as a center-figure, once again.

“I’ve actually been thinking about how I’d like to make a game like that…” says Futami.

“If we were to make a game like that where you, yourself, and not Kirito, would be in there making friends with Asuna and the others—putting that into a story would be difficult,” elaborates Kawahara. “In that case, we’d have to make an original heroine as well. However, I think that playing a game like that would also be fun.”

Futami then explains that SAO is about the story of Kirito and friends, so it’s important to have the right portrayals for those who like Kirito and Asuna, along with their relationship with the other characters.

He also jokes around by saying that if they were to make an original character and this character meets Asuna, it might be similar to the way she was cold towards Kirito when they first met.

“It sounds like it’d take a while until she’d open up to you,” says Kawahara with a laugh.

“That kind of relationship would also be fun, and having to build a relationship with a character from scratch could also be the beginning of something new. I’d like to put in more effort so that maybe one day we can make a game like this,” concludes Futami.

Futami also shared a blurry teaser look at some original character designs. These characters will be revealed in the near future.

Why Sword Art Online: Lost Song Takes Place In A New ALO. October 23, 2014 . 12:31pm

Bandai Namco producer Yosuke Futami and SAO series creator Reki Kawahara share more with Dengeki Online on why they decided to build upon the world of ALO.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song takes place in a “reborn” version of ALO (ALfheim Online) that has seen a bunch of new areas as part of a major update. Bandai Namco producer Yosuke Futami and SAO series creator Reki Kawahara share more with Dengeki Online on why they decided to build upon the world of ALO.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song will mark the series’ third release for a console where the game will be set in the world of ALO. Dengeki asks the two what their thoughts were when plans for the upcoming game came to be.

“Even before hearing about Lost Song, I’ve always asked Futami to please release a game that lets you fly around, so I felt that the time has finally come,” says Kawahara, to which Futami says he recalls hearing the requests from the Sword Art Online author, ever since the first two games.

Futami previously mentioned that making a game that lets you freely fly around is actually quite difficult. Dengeki asks him to share a little more on that subject.

“Yes, it’s actually very difficult. Actually, depicting ALO [from the Sword Art Online series] is what makes it difficult,” responds Futami. “Lost Song is a title for consoles, so making it into something that can easily be played by players is its premise. However, this title is not an RPG, and focuses on the action [instead], so I believe it will be a perfect fit to enjoy the world of ALO.”

Next, the developers talk about what makes Lost Song fun as a non-death game, whereas in the original Sword Art Online, dying in the virtual MMORPG meant dying in real life.

“Up until now Kirito and the others have played a “death game” where they risked their lives in Aincrad, right?” says Futami. “However, Lost Song will be all about how ‘games are fun’, and I believe its scenario will have plenty of lighthearted content.”

Dengeki asks how they decided to have the game set in the new and reborn ALO, instead of the original one.

“If we had it set in the title’s Fairy Dance arc of ALO, that would mean Asuna would be imprisoned in the World Tree,” says Kawahara. “So, that’d mean Kirito wouldn’t have time to play around; but in order to have him [be able to fool around a game], we figured that having a reborn ALO would be the most suitable.”

He continues, “So, if we go by chronological order, this would make it the reborn ALO. What makes it different from SAO is that this time, Kirito and friends can enjoy a game normally. However, ‘how to bring out a more serious mood to the scenario’ was also an important factor.”

“Yes, this was very troublesome,” adds Futami.

“Just having a game where people are there enjoying a game… well, that would be pretty rough,” says Kawahara.

Kawahara concludes by saying that Sword Art Online had the premise of a death game where the player and avatar would die in the game and in real life. Lost Song will have a more simple setting where the player enjoys the game. How this will be depicted is what they’re placing a lot of importance into for now.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song will release in Japan sometime in 2015 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song English localization announced for Asia

Let's get some better quality translation this time, yeah?
Sword Art Online: Lost Song will be localized in English for the Asian market, Bandai Namco Games announced at GameStart Asia in Singapore.

The English-localized version will launch for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in 2015.
The previous game, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment for PS Vita, was released in North America and Europe using the English localization provided by Bandai Namco’s Asian branch. Said localization, however, was more “Engrish” than it was English. Let’s hope this one turns out better.
