Tales To Astonish is Coming in 2009!

Attention Hypesters:

I hope everyone has enjoyed the Marvel Spotlight throughout the last few years, because on January 8th, the Spotlight is evolving, as the old thread is retiring to make way for a brand new series, a series called Tales to Astonish!

With so many Marvel cartoons coming on TV, I here at the Hype would like everyone to know that I will be using this series to showcase those heroes that will not or will soon get their own series. And Tales to Astonish will continue the tradition started by the Marvel Spotlight.

In this series, the new fifth-week series to take the place of the old Amazing Fantasy with Kimber and Stormer is Journey Into Mystery with Lindsey Pierce, in which the blonde veejay from Jem introduces stories and characters from the Golden and Silver Ages of Marvel Comics. Plus, all of your favorite Hasbro Universe superheroes and adventurers will continue to help in the Marvel Universe in their own new adventures.

Tales to Astonish - The Series starts January 8th, 2009 with the Secret Invasion adaptation starring the freaky Misfit, Constance Montgomery, as she helps the Marvel Superheroes deal with the Skrull empire, while coming to terms with her own Skrull heritage. So look for it!

Adventure One:
The New Adventures of Ant-Man
(Hank Pym and company star in the first series of the Tales to Astonish franchise!)

Hank_pym_1.jpg

Main Voice Cast:

Dr. Henry Pym/Ant-Man, Yellowjacket, and Giant-Man: Nolan North
Janet Van Dyne/Wasp: Grey DeLisle
Scott Lang/Ant-Man II: Tim Daly
Cassandra Lang/Stature, Stinger: Ashley Johnson
Eric O'Grady/Ant-Man III: Greg Cipes
Rita DeMara/Yellowjacket: Kari Wahlgren

Episode One: The Incursion of the Insecticons!

To start the TTA series anew, we're going to skip the origins, save them for another time, and get straight to the action. In this episode, Ant-Man and Wasp get involved in the war between the Autobots and Decepticons when a swarm of deadly Insecticons sabotage a series of high-tech military installations in their search for Energon resources. But, the real story is who's controlling the Insecticons: None other than Ultron (Kevin Michael Richardson)! And that robotic nightmare is using Megatron's robotic insect saboteurs to help him build a Transformer-style body for himself so that he can challenge Megatron (Frank Welker) for leadership of the Decepticons! Now, Ant-Man and Wasp join forces with Bumblebee (Daniel Gilvezan) to deactivate Ultron's Insecticon army. Then, Dr. Pym must become Giant-Man and try to fight both Ultron and Megatron himself in this crossover adventure!

Episode Two: The Wasp and the Mischievous Minx

What happens when you bring together a six-inch winged superheroine with a trio of insect-themed rockers? Mayhem ensues, as the Wasp teams up with Riot (Townsend Coleman), Rapture (Ellen Gerstell) and Minx (Kath Soucie) - the Stingers! But, Riot makes the mistake of taking on the giant Red Ronin during an electronics fair, putting himself and Rapture in danger! Luckily for those two, Janet Van Dyne and Ingrid Krueger are on the scene as they're involved in a matter concerning the keyboardist's new bee-themed stage outfit designed by Van Dyne at a clothing store across the street! Now, the Wasp and a Pym particle-infused Minx must shrink to six inches tall, get inside the robot, find a way to dismantle Red Ronin, and rescue Minx's fellow bandmates in this adventure of Jem-level proportions!

Episode Three: To Save Cassandra, Save the Scientist!

In this Ant-Man adventure, Scott Edward Lang makes his first appearance in a Marvel series, as he is a divorced cat burglar in the rescue attempt of his life, as he must rescue a world renowned scientist from a dangerous mutant COBRA agent named Darren Cross (Will Friedle) so that he could perform a life-saving operation on his daughter Cassandra! But, even if he rescues the scientist and defeats Cross, the new Ant-Man must deal with the mutant's fearsome commander, Destro (Arthur Burghardt), in order to get out alive in this episode!

Episode Four: The Irredeemable G.I. Ant-Man!

Musician and voice actor Greg Cipes lends his distinct goofy voice to the character of Eric O'Grady. He is a young SHIELD agent (and childhood friend of Terrence "Techrat" Beck) who is a real, *****-chasing, piece of work! But, when he is called by SHIELD to become the new Ant-Man upon getting booted into the G.I. JOE Initiative program, he gets his first chance to prove his mettle on the team when he joins Snake-Eyes and Flint in the search for a rogue SHIELD agent who has stolen a powerful prototype battlesuit for COBRA! That's if he can stop chasing female tail long enough to complete his mission in this hilarious episode!

Episode Five: Rita DeMara: Superhero Superstarlet!

Oh Rita, lovely little Rita DeMara, what the hell is going on in your future? This is the rebooted story of the female Yellowjacket, who is now a reluctant musician trying to get into the music business by becoming a personal secretary for Eric Raymond at Misfits Music! But, what happens when she discovers a vial of Pym particles stolen from Avengers Mansion by Zipper? Say hello to the newest girl to become Yellowjacket, as she finds a way to use her newfound powers for good by taking down Zipper and Raymond, and return the Pym particles to Avengers Mansion in this episode!

Episode Two: Machine Man and the Mistress of Menace

Aaron has already found out who killed his creator, and it has led him to a multinational electronics and weapons firm called Bain Electronics Group. But first, our hero has found himself a job at Delmar Insurance Group. His first assignment: protect a billionaire industrialist whose green-haired, spoiled-rotten daughter is the lead singer of an all-female hard-rock group from another Marvel series, from the very same people who had Abel Stack killed! That is, if the young woman's vile manager and the head of that firm don't join forces to have the green-haired girl and her friends killed next episode!

Episode Three: Machine Man and the Madness of the Misfits!

Machine Man came to the rescue of Phyllis "Pizzazz" Gabor (Lisa Ortiz) at the offices of Gabor Industries after Sunset Bain made her move on her band with the help of their manager, Eric Raymond (Charlie Adler), and exposing Sunset Bain's true plans for both Machine Man and his charge, Harvey Gabor, in the process! Now, the action is ramped up, as Machine Man is introduced to the music business by Pizzazz, and a young woman named Constance Montgomery (Grey DeLisle) introduces herself to his Aaron Stack alter ego, unaware to her that he's a robot! Episode Four: Machine Man and the Menace of Megatron!

Episode Five: Jocasta

Love is in the air, even for artificial lifeforms, as Aaron Stack find himself falling in love with a beautiful android by the name of Jocasta. She's an Automated Personal Assistant who works for Tony Stark at Stark Enterprises. But, there's a secret concerning Miss Jocasta, for she's the creation of one of the Avengers' most dangerous foes - Ultron! And when he comes looking for his "daughter," Machine Man and Iron Man (Marc Worden) must team up to stop him from retrieving her for his own malevolent ends in this romantic episode!

Yo! Carol gets involved in a Transformers adventure she'll never forget, as Ms. Marvel helps Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and Elita-One (Marlene Aragon) out when an invading fleet of female Seeker jets attack Earth! But, as Carol looks closer, she sees a malevolent force at work, as these female Transformers are under the command of an old enemy of Carol's named Deathbird (Melinda Clarke) and her squad of female Shi'Ar warriors! Add to that the coming of Megatron (Frank Welker), and the arrival of Deathbird's female Decepticon partner, Antagony (Paulina Gillis), and both genders of Autobots will be the ones helping Ms. Marvel tonight in this episode!

Episode Two: The Monsters from Beneath the Center of the Earth

Carol gets a visit from an old Air Force friend of hers named Bradford J. Armbruster (Michael Sheehan), a former G.I. Joe Conquest X-30 pilot who has just joined the Earth Corps. He needs Ms. Marvel's help in stopping the mad Ronan the Accuser (Scott Rummell) from unleahing the Inhumanoids upon the surface world in his quest to judge the Earth! Can Ms. Marvel help Armbruster, as the new superhero Sabre Jet, deal with both Ronan the Accuser and the Inhumanoids before it's too late for the Earth? Find out in this episode!

Episode Three: Ms. Mary Marvel!

What happens when you put a superheroine like Ms. Marvel with a glam-rock group like the Misifts? Everything that goes wrong does! And it involves Carol posing as a new singer coming on at Misfits Music who, in turn, meet Misfits songwriter Mary "Stormer" Phillips (Maggie Blue O'Hara), who helps her deal with her manager, Eric Raymond (whom we find out was Carol's pervert friend from high school!). But, something freaky is happening, as Stormer finds herself possessing a semblance of Carol's Kree powers, as poor Mary transforms into her old Halloween costume and calling herself Ms. Mary Marvel! Now, Stormer's got a brand new groove, as she helps Ms. Marvel deal with Raymond and a plot by HYDRA to assassinate the father of the band's lead singer, Pizzazz, in this episode!

Episode Four: To Stop an Ogress, To Save an Abominatrix!

Carol joins Jennifer Walters (Cree Summer) in stopping the rampaging she-brute the Ogress (Diane Delano) at Le Klub Kool during a Stingers concert! She's a scaly, hideous teen piano prodigy who happens to be the niece of Emil Blonsky, the Abomination (Kevin Schon)! And, when he comes looking for beautifully ugly niece, and starts delivering a pounding to both Carol and Jen, it's Ingrid and Esmeralda to the rescue as all four ladies deal with her villainous uncle in this episode!

Episode Five: The Serpentor And the Warbird

Ms. Marvel faces her most dangerous foe yet, as she joins forces with Lady Jaye (Mary Lewis) and Flint (William Ratner) to stop a new and improved version of the COBRA Emperor, Serpentor (Dan Gauthier)! But, Serpentor has a nasty surprise waiting for Marvel's Female Fury courtesy of his new benefactors, the Decepticons, as he takes control of the Autobot Warbird, and launches an army of dangerous Nightraven Seeker Transformers hell bent on decimating Joe headquarters and the SHIELD Helicarrier unless Carol, Allison and the Joes can free Warbird and take down Serpentor and his Cybertronian army in this episode!

Next Adventure: Quasar

Adventure Four:
Quasar: The Animated Series
(Wendell Vaughn makes his first appearance as part of Tales to Astonish!)

250px-ANNNOVA003_cover.jpg

Main Voice Cast:

Wendell Elvis Vaughn/Quasar: Cameron Clarke
Colonel Nick Fury: Phillip Abbott

Episode One: Operation: Dreadwing!

Going straight to the action, Even Quasar's joining the Autobot/Decepticon battle, as our hero helps Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) deal with a new Decepticon menace called Dreadwing (Powers Boothe)! But, there's something strange about this murderous Transformer, for he is a synthoid/robot hybrid looking to not only take down the Autobots, but take down SHIELD as well! And, Nick Fury wants to know from both Quasar and Prime what Dreadwing is planning next in this episode!

Episode Two: Quantum Leap

Quasar is on the case when he deals with a new villain in the form of Quantum (Scott Rummell). He's a powerful Kree warrior with the power to split his own atomic structure within the quantum field, therefore creating duplicates of himself at will! And when too many of Quantum's duplicates become independent and threaten to destroy him and the members of Congress in Washington, D.C. during the swearing-in ceremony for Barack Obama, Quasar must not only save his enemy from himself, but protect President Obama and the members of Congress from an assassination attempt on their lives in this episode!

Episode Three: Light Waves

Dazzler (Britta Phillips) guest stars in this Quasar episode where Wendell and Alison find themselves dealing with a beautiful rock singer named Aurora Dante (Ellen Gerstell), who was once one of Ali's biggest rivals known as Lightwave! But, when she uses her musical and light-enhanced mutant abilities to hijack a nuclear-powered satellite for a mysterious benefactor, Quasar and Dazzler must sniff out the mastermind behind the actions of Ms. Dante, and take him down so that they can reach her before it's too late! Didn't Spider-Man deal with this type of mission 25 years ago in his own animated series?

Episode Four: Constance Montgomery's Big Skrull Revelation!

In an episode that's more suited for Marvel's Jem animated series than a Quasar cartoon, Wendell is in Mulberry, Indiana visiting relatives when he runs into an old friend: a young woman named Constance Elizabeth Montgomery (Grey DeLisle), and her mother Samantha (Catherine Cavadini), whom he hasn't seen in years! But, Connie and Sam have something to reveal to Wendell, for Samantha is really a member of the Skrull Empire who was banished to Earth as a result of her marriage to Clash's father on our very planet! And when the Super-Skrull, K'lrt (Vin Diesel), comes to Earth to cause trouble in Mulberry, this little Misfit groupie may have to reveal her own Skrull abilities in order to help Quasar take the terrifying Fantastic Four villain down in this episode!

Episode Five: Quasar and the Techrat

More action with the Jem characters, as Clash (Grey DeLisle) accompanies Quasar back to New York, only to find her boyfriend Techrat (Greg Cipes) under attack from his brother Quentin (Charlie Adler), the madman known as Mysterio, which brings Clash and Quasar into the fight alongside Spider-Man against Mysterio and a dangerous new villainess created for the Marvel animated universe named Amethyste (Eliza Dushku), whose purple amethyst ring has the power to disrupt the fabric of reality, unless Spidey, Quasar, Techrat and Clash can remove the ring from her finger in this nightmarish episode!

Now, the new and improved Wrecking Crew have one mission: Join Devastator in taking out a hich-tech nuclear reactor! But, there's a problem: The Mighty Thor, Mjolnir and a brand-new Autobot aircraft carrier called Thunderstrike (Dave Boat in a dual role)! I think that the Enchantress needs to teach this little princess a lesson in this episode!

Episode Three: She-Hulk: Jennifer Walters, Superhero Misfit Rock Star!

Yo! Now here's something from the MarBro weird files: Jennifer Walters (Cree Summer) is representing Harvey Gabor (Kevin Conroy) in a big oil company lawsuit against Gabor Enterprises three days from now. But, her alter ego She-Hulk find herself helping friend Pizzazz (Lisa Ortiz) with a concert that the Misfits are having tonight! But, what happens when Phyllis and Jennifer find themselves trading places when Pizzazz uses her own gamma-irradiated powers to deliver a brutal, life-threatening beating to Titania (Molly Culver) when the redheaded strongwoman criticizes the Misfits' music, while She-Hulk deals with a snarky new band called the Space Cadettes, whose music is causing its fans to commit brazen robberies throughout Los Angeles! And the interview, on the SHIELD Helicarrier during a battle with the Sentinels! Will Fury help Lindsey survive the meeting and get her off the Helicarrier in time for her next interview? Episode One: Nick Fury: Howling Commando, Agent of SHIELD

Continuing and expanding on the Lin-Z-TV episode of Journey into Mystery, the eyepatch-wearing, cigar-smoking director of the Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage and Law Division, Nicholas Joseph Fury, is interviewed by a terrified music-video jockey named Lindsey Pierce for her series, Lin-Z-TV, thanks to her scheming brother Alex! Thank God Colonel Fury had known Lindsey since she was a little girl, or Agent Pierce would've been shot to death for bringing his sister onto the Helicarrier! In this interview, Nick and Lin-Z discuss his Army career and subsequent meetings with Wolverine, a pre-Punisher Frank Castle, and the legendary Captain America. He also talks about his rise to the rank of the head of the preeminent spy agency in the Marvel Universe, SHIELD! It's the Lin-Z-TV/Marvel True Action Hero Story of Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD! In this episode!

Episode Two: The Scorpio Conflict

In this episode, Colonel Fury has some familial demons to deal with, as he and the members of SHIELD come face to face with a criminal organization called the Zodiac Gang! This is especially true when the Eyepatch Man comes in contact with Scorpio, a Scorpion-like assassin hell bent on eliminating Fury himself, for he is none other than his own brother, Jacob Fury (Charlie Adler)! It's brother versus brother, and there's no love lost in this episode!

Episode Three: Kimber and Stormer: Agents of SHIELD

Dude, you know what happens when Jem characters try to invade a Nick Fury episode? Yep, it becomes an episode of truly outrageous proportions, as Kimber Benton (Liza Jacqueline) and Mary Phillips (Maggie Blue O'Hara) answer a promotional ad for SHIELD in Cool Trash Magazine, much to the chagrin of Kimber's sister Jerrica and Mary's brother Craig, an agent of SHIELD! But, can these two fun-loving teenage musicians be able to survive the agency's Femme Force program headed up by Valentina De La Fontaine, especially when they're sent to infiltrate an all-girl band of assassins called the Serpent Squad, who have appropriated the band name of the Limp Lizards and are led by a woman named Griselda "Zelda" DuBois (Rose McGowan), the snake charmer known as Princess Python? Man, and you thought the Misfits were bad, these girls are worse in this adventure!

Episode Four: Frank Martin, Transporter of SHIELD

Jason Statham, star of the Transporter movie series, lends his voice to his reprisal of the role that made him famous: anti-hero driver and ex-British Army soldier Frank Martin! And in this episode, Frank's been given a new mission: he's been recruited by SHIELD for duty as its newest agent by Colonel Nick Fury to help Captain America (Justin Gross) take down a French drug dealer and ex-circus acrobat named Georges Batroc (Chris Potter) who is about to make a major drug distribution deal with a HYDRA operation on the United States-Mexico border that's already had two Homeland Security officers murdered, two border patrol agents framed for the crime, and their families targeted for death by HYDRA itself! It's a white-knuckle adventure for the Transporter and the Star-Spangled Avenger against Batroc's Brigade in this special episode!

Episode Five: Nick Fury Goes Hollywood!

In this offbeat adventure set in the Hollywood, California of the Ultimate Universe, General Nicholas Fury of SHIELD seeks the help of two Gothic-looking movie fans named Conrad and Constance Montgomery, alias Techrat and Clash (Greg Cipes and Grey DeLisle), who are both a robotics genius and shapeshifting actress, to help him protect action star Samuel L. Jackson (voicing himself) from an assassin looking to kill him for his resemblance to General Fury during shooting of the new Nick Fury movie! But, the real shock for the Montgomery twins, is that the person doing the hit is their own cousin - Vivianne Montgomery (Noelle North)! Can Techrat and Clash be able to help General Fury stop her and protect Sam Jackson before it's too late! Plus, what is the connection between the three characters in this story, and a beautiful actress from a certain 1960's supernatural sitcom that's about to make her Ultimate Universe debut in this episode! (Hint: this actress is deceased in real life!)

That's a mystery that Jessica is about to solve when she meets the woman - Millicent Collins (Joan Collins) - in this episode!

Episode Three: Curiosity Killed the Spider-Woman

Poor Jessica. She finds herself on a luxury yacht belonging to Countess Danielle DuVoisen (Marlene Aragon) looking to interview the glamorous Countess for a story in Justice Magazine when out of nowhere, spoiled rich girl Felicia Hardy (Tricia Helfer) arrives on board, looking to cause trouble! Worse, throw in another spoiled rich girl, Phyllis Gabor (Lisa Ortiz), and her band the Misfits, and we have got a three-way battle between the Black Cat, Pizzazz and Spider-Woman, especially when Felicia frames Roxanne Pelligrini (Meghan Black) for a jewel theft on the Countess' yacht that she did not commit - all because of Roxy's resemblance to Felicia! Now, Jess has enlist the help of Mary Phillips (Maggie Blue O'Hara) to clear the Misfits' names and trap the Black Cat in her own misdeeds before it's too late! Plus, Jessica joins Pizzazz, Roxy and Stormer as a new Misfit, Arachne, in her own rendition of "Universal Appeal" (check out the black leather jacket, boots and studded belt that Jessica wears as a disguise!) in this episode!

Episode Four: Black Arachnia

In an unbelievable, gender-specific tribute to a story featured in Marvel's orignal Transformers comic, Jessica finds herself helping a young Latina crimefighter named La Tarantula (Selena Gomez) deal with a Miami drug queenpin named Cecelia Ricadonna (Elizabeth Pena), only to find Ms. Ricadonna brutally impaled by a giant Cybertronian spider named Black Arachnia (Venus Terzo)! But, who is Maria Vasquez, what's her connection to Teresa Vasquez, a woman Jessica battled as Fer-De-Lance in the past? And, why is Black Arachnia suddenly attracted to Jessica Drew? Could she be Spider-Woman's new Autobot Maximal partner? All these questions and more will be answered in this episode!

Episode Five: Spider-Woman Goes Hollywood

Terrence "Techrat" Beck (Greg Cipes) and Constance "Clash" Montgomery (Grey DeLisle), the Marvel movie-loving couple of the 616 universe, guest star in an episode where Clash is wearing her own Spider-Woman costume (the black one) when Jessica Drew visits Techrat's crash pad, sending Connie into a fainting spell and Terry looking to create some new gauntlets for Jessie! But, Ms. Drew's here on behalf of Marvel Studios to tell Constance that she's been picked to play Jessica in a new Spider-Woman movie made by Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios! But first, Techrat and Clash help Spider-Woman deal with the Master Menace of Illusion, Mysterio (Gregg Berger), and a new villainess, an actress/magician named Mysteria Winters (Kristin Kreuk)! And, she shares a past with Clash from their childhood in Mulberry, Indiana! But, could Mysteria be the one helping Clash and Spider-Woman put the screws on the Spider-Man villain, especially when she finds out that her best friend is playing Spider-Woman in the movie?
