I feel like you’d have to go back a full decade for McConaughey and probably even longer for Elba.

As much as I’ve expected Lex to be an A-lister, looking at GOTG3 in hindsight can kind of make me believe Gunn would cast Howerton.

Gunn was capping off his time in the MCU, and God knows they’ve been chumming the water for all manner of A-listers and recognizable faces for years now, even if it’s just a post-credit scene with no clear cut follow-up. The High Evolutionary, the sole villain of Gunn’s final chapter being a big name should’ve been a given. But instead Gunn went with an actor mostly known for theatre work and, up until Peacemaker, some minor appearances on television. And it ****ing worked.

Dennis IMO. He’s already on Gunn’s radar and we know just much of a narcissist and sociopath he can play.

Jimmi Simpson, meanwhile, has David Fincher experience (Zodiac) that could be put to good use in Matt Reeves’s Batman Universe.
