I think Armor could be a fun addition.
Who?
Focusing on the women is the best idea. The best x-men are women.
I disagree. Some of the most popular X-Men are women but not all.
I don't want a "girl power" movie. I want a good X-Men movie with great power displays and that involves the X-Men working as a team, not treating the men as useless whilst women save the day.
But in terms of female X-Men, she's not even close in the top ten, popularity wise and general importance in the X-Men mythos.
1. Storm
2. Jean Grey
3. Rogue
4. Shadowcat
5. Psylocke
6. Emma Frost
7. Jubilee
8. Mystique
9. X-23
10. Polaris
11. Dazzler
12. Magik
So I think its a Longshot from happening. Maybe as a background student, there's more possibility for that.
Other female X-Women from the comics include Petra, Sway, Cecilia Reyes, Marrow, Sage, Stacy X, Lifeguard, Danger, Cloak, Rachel, Hope, Kwannon, Gabby, Husk, Monet, Lady Mastermind, Frenzy, Omega Sentinel, Hepzibah, Warbird, Aurora, Blink, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Karma, Magma, Boom Boom, Domino, Ariel, Trinary, Pixie, Oya, Kamala, Firestar and Rasputin 4.
Of that first list of 12, I know who 11 of them are. Magik I've heard of but couldn't tell you any more than that. Is she Colossus' sister or is that someone else?
Of that other list of women:
Cecelia Reyes- Wasn't she the Doctor in X-Men 3?
Marrow- I know she's a Morlock, was in X-Men Legends 1, Gambit saved her from the Morlock massacre as a girl, and she cameoed in episode 5 of X-Men 97. Spyke in X-men evolution was basically a male version of her.
Cloak- I think crossed over onto Runaways as part of Cloak and Dagger. I don't know if that's meant to be the same person or not.
Rachel- Is that meant to be Rachel Summers, daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey? If so, that's all I know of her.
Kwannon- Thanks to the Psylocke/Kwannon thread on this forum, I know she's the body that Betsy Braddock got body swapped into. Quick question: is the superspeed and Psionic sword Betsy's powers or Kwannon's powers that Betsy could then access?
Lady Mastermind- I presume that's just a female version of Mastermind? I only know who he is thanks to X-Men evolution.
Warbird- The name rings a bell. Was she in alpha flight (Wolverine's old team from the original animated series) or was she
the one in X-Men 97 episode 6?
Aurora-
I think she was listed as the white haired woman at Gambit's funeral in X-Men 97 episode 7 Other than that I have no clue who she is.
Blink- I know who she is thanks to X-Men legends 2 and the days of future past movie.
Magma- Thanks to X-Men Legends 1 and X-Men evolution I know who she is, though they were different versions of the same character.
Boom Boom- I know who she is thanks to X-Men evolution.
Domino- I know who she is because of Deadpool 2 and I think she's been in one of the cartoons with a chalk white face and a black patch around her eye.
Pixie- Is she the one in X-Men 97 episode 5 that had the fairy wings on her back?
The others I've never heard of.
I think Jubilee is a must .
Overall, I think they should stick with a team made up of largely of familiar characters ,with a few new additions from the GA's perspective.
I think the studio needs to come out strong, and not throw in a bunch of lesser know ,and less popular teammates, for the sake of doing something different.
I think Cyclops , Rogue ,and Storm will be there regardless , but I wouldn't mind also seeing characters Sunspot (given X Men 97), Emma Frost , Gambit , and Jubilee .
I gotta think they'll use Rogue as well, even though she was featured prominently, in the OG films.
They could always feature the lesser known characters at the School , but in terms of the team, I think it would be a mistake for Feige to not utilize some of the strongest, and beloved characters, based on the assumption ,that general audiences " will be interested regardless".
Then as the films go on they can start populating the team with lesser known and less popular characters .
That's my view at least.
I agree People want to see the famous X-Men, not the obscure ones.
Storm, without a doubt, is a shoe in. Given that they have Captain Marvel in the MCU, to not have Rogue take her powers and become the super strong and flying Rogue from the Fox animated series would be a terrible waste of opportunity. Cyclops you have to have, if you have Cyclops then you have to have Jean Grey, Gambit goes with Rogue, Jubilee has been on the peripheral of the X-Men movies so it would be good if she actually got chance to display her powers.
Storm
Cyclops
Jean Grey
Rogue
Gambit
Jubilee
I think they will just go with the animated series line up to start with because that is what the general audience know from the cartoons, games and movies, etc.
