Which sci-fi movie from 2009 deserves the title?

1. Avatar
2. District 9
3. Star Trek
4. Moon

Moon, by far, is the greatest sci-fi movies of the decade

Avatar, followed by District 9.
I still have to see Moon, but it does look really good.

Toss up between District 9 and Moon for me, havent seen Avatar yet though

Avatar looked to me more like a science fantasy movie then scifi

Have yet to see Avatar, District 9 and Moon, but I wager that Star Trek will win this for me anyway.

easily District 9

avatar will tend to get the votes because it was the most fresh in peoples heads.

Easily Avatar, followed by D9.

BTW: who voted for TF2? was it for teh lawlz?

Star Trek and D9

Yea to me its a tie really between Moon and District 9, they were just superb films. Moon was just powerful.

So I would say.

1. Moon/District 9
2. Star Trek
3. Avatar

As much as I am anticipating Avatar I dont think it'll be able to dethrone D9 as my favorite of the year...maybe most visually pleasing...but I dont know I really loved D9. Its one of my favorite movies ever now. Ill see this sunday though before I cast a vote.

Moon, also easily one of the best Sci-Fi movies in the past 20 years. :awesome:

When did Moon come out, and will it be on DVD anytime soon?

Came out in July, limited release.

DVD Jan 12th (at least that's what it says on Netflix).

Sweet. I do want to see it, even though it's not in line with my usual sci fi tastes.

It's more of a psychological sci-fi (I think, I don't know the right words).

I liked it as a whole, of course I liked it most for Sam Rockwell but, everything as a whole was all around good.

I loved Star Trek, but District 9 was just mind blowing.

District 9 is definitely the stand-out movie of 2009, that's for sure.

1) Moon
2) District 9
3) Avatar

Avatar. While it obviously has a fair amount of problems, it's a film experience that I won't forget in the coming years. Star Trek was nothing more than lightweight entertainment and District 9, while very good, wasn't as fantastic as many had made it out to be; I would have preferred it to be less of an action film.

Star Trek: 7/10
District 9: 7.5/10
Avatar: 9/10
