Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 Thread 2.0

I still hate the Spider-Woman/Wonder Man team up. I breeze through every fight, but they are the only ones giving me effin' trouble. :argh:

I agree with a lot of you that MUA1 was a lot better than MUA2... I just played through the first one and then started the second one. MUA2 just doesnt seem as fun. Its not customizable enough. The boss fights are not with any big players. The overall story is just pointless. Theres not that much that you can do to actually enjoy the game. Its very repetitive and very very standardized. Even the "Special Conversations" were so stupid.

Im hoping that if there is a MUA3 .. theres more options ... more A-Roster Villans...a better roster and a longer more intricate story. The end of MUA 1 was awesome because it showed you what happened with your actions. I felt really cheated by MUA2. You can tell that the game was just a money maker because everytime you turn it on the first thing the screen does is say "Checking for Downloadable Content" which is saying "hey we dont care if you enjoy the game, we just want you to buy more characters for it, so you will think its better."

Any word on a MUA 3 ???? I hope they undo the damage that was done.... really hope they do.

nearly every boss fight can be easily defeated with a combo of Songbird and Iron Fist. Her sonic scream move takes down massive amounts of damage fast. IF is there bc he's the only character that can heal in case your health goes down too much

Iron Fist has a healing power, or do you just mean like Logan's healing factor?

See, I usually enjoy fighting obscure villains that would not appear otherwise...but there was really no recognizable villains besides Titanium Man and maybe Tinkerer (and I don't count Green Goblin and Venom, as they are playable characters). The previous game had a healthy mixture of famous and obscure baddies.

That's actually a standard procedure most games with DLC have. Shattered Dimensions had it, but I didn't have feel it was a cheap cash-in at all.

He can heal the entire party. I tended to keep him around during boss fights bc that ability was so vital. Helped keep everyone from dying.

that totally wouldve helped me when i fought Titanium Man on legendary- TWICE!! (stupid auto save...)

Know what would've helped me in the entire game? If the idiot developers would've taken 5 lousy minutes to wikipedia Hulk and Iron Man's Extremis powers and realized they both had self healing powers.

Hulk I can understand, but Iron Man is just *****ing for the sake of *****ing.

How is it *****ing? That was part of his upgrade at the time. It was a big deal in the Extremis storyline.

Well healing power or not, except for the rocket punch I've never seen any of the moves and powers Iron Man did in the game in any of his books. Bouncing repulsors? come on. A unibeam that shot out a blue something.

Then again, there hasn't been one game ever made that got his powers correctly. MvC 2 & 3 are the worst so far.

Iron Man doesn't have powers though? He's a pretty open book. He's constantly evolving because he's a tech user. So therefore developers are free to do whatever the hell they want with him, because other than repulsor blasts he's not knowing for anything in particular.

War Machine has a more set power set than he does.

To be honest I would like Iron Man to have his repulsor beams just freaking once in an Ultimate Alliance game. Its frustrating to see him firing them off regularly in fusions and not be able to do it as a power when that is his MAIN ability.

I take it you don't know much about Iron Man. How hard is it to have him shoot a repulsor beam like in the comics? What about his other weapons?

The Unibeam should've been something devastating, instead it came off lackluster.

War Machine having more power set than him is freaking laughable.

Exactly, the only game that has him firing a continuous beam is the Captain America and The Avengers arcade game. All other games have him shooting something that looks like it's coming out of a G.I. Joe rifle. IDK what the hell the MvC people were smoking when they had him "shooting" that Repulsor nonsense.

I take it you just pretty much did the internet ******** thing, but Iron Man is a character that doesn't have a famous power set. His only thing he's know for his repulsor technology. And he's constantly upgrading and changing his suit and therefore it's capabilities which makes him alot harder to do ''iconic powers" for than say someone like Hulk, Wolverine, Captain America, Spider-Man or Storm.

War Machine is at least always been about heavy arsenal weaponry inside his suit.

********? Please.

Like I said people with little to no knowledge of him will just think he has repulsor beams and that's it. He's more and better equipt for any battle situation than a lot of heroes out there. Especially now with his new bleeding edge armor.

War machine is about a one trick pony as they come. He's nothing more than a product of the 90s with those guns. He's a souped up ricer to Iron Mans next year model's Lamborghini.

You don't get what I'm saying obviously. When a developer makes a game like this, they try to go for iconic abilities. Iron Man's got one iconic ability? Repulsor technology. That's it. Everything else changes upon writer/and suit.

So he's much harder to implement iconic powers for than other heroes. Don't try to play it off as if he's got this nice deep power set to cull from, when he really doesn't. He has that one iconic power and they just fail to implement it. The rest they create.

It's similar to Cyclops in a way. One iconic power, optic blast, so they have to get creative. And most of the time it's dumb as **** when they do.

I get what you're saying but Iron man is more than just a guy in a shiny suit shooting beams from his hands.

I could've come up with better powers without digging through my comic collection. And woulve made them look accurate.

:hehe: Thats pretty funny.

Thanks ;)

I was playing this last night and thought how they should've done his powers.

First of all, make his repulsors look like repulsors. The beam should look similar to what Ice Man and Ms Marvel shoot. Not that bouncing crap they came up with.

The uni-beam should look like the repulsor blast except double in size and more devastating

The pusle barrage should've been a full form repulsor blast like he used in Mighty Avengers issue 1.

The rocket punch was pretty badass, that shouldn't be changed.

If they were to make a part 3 this is how they should do the powers plus add in some extra ones

The button for the Repulsors, have the option to use Pulse Bolts.
The next button should have the option for the full form repulsor blast and sonic blasters
Third button, keep the rocket punch and add in an option for smart bombs or mini missiles.
The button for the Uni Beam, add in the option to use his one time laser like in IM 2, except it's not one time thing, but just drains out his energy everytime it's used.

And all of these are pretty much standard for every Iron Man suit used in the comics (except for the one time laser), no need to make stuff up or try hard to come up with powers.

This game was terrible when compared to the first.

I'd really like X-Men Legends 3 before they go with MUA3.

IMO, the only thing MUA1 had over MUA2 was length. In MUA1, there were always like 2-3 characters that played almost exactly the same, half the moves were useless, graphics were horrible. And even though you went through several different Marvel locations, it felt like they were simply thrown into the game, just for the sake of having tons of different locations.

Both XML games are great, then it started to go downhill with MUA1 and MUA2 at least made the characters fun to play again.
