Please stop Matrix lines
agreed...I may get ripped for this BUUUUT I never got into the MAtrix and thought those movies sucked...
Please stop Matrix lines
Personally, I've never been overly interested in Perry as a character.
I always thought he was a nice lil side character in all of the shows and films, although he was a great character in "Lois & Clark", but I'm not bothered about his portrayal personally.
That said, having Lawrence Fishburne in the role has caught my attention because he's awesome.
So I'm more interested now than before lol
I think that the only characters that can't be another race are Superman, Jor-el and Lara (obviously) and the Kents. Even for Lex and Lois it wouldn't matter to me.
Just wondering without opening a can of worms here.
Why couldn't the Kents be black?
I believe their are tons of mid western blacks living on farms or in rural mid west communities with humble christian values that could love and raise a white baby just orphaned. Raising him to be an upstanding citizen.
Think about if Clair and Cliff Huxstable found Kal El. I think he'd be raised all right.
he'd eat Jell-O puddin pops for breakfast, lunch and dinner
i honestly dont know what to say
Remember one Mr.James Earl Jones in an episode of LOIS AND CLARK Mr.Stern? He played a kind of superior to Perry, or I think if my memory serves me right, somebody who Perry asked for help and money to buy a share in the Planet to save it from being bought over by Luthor
At the time, when I watched it, I really thought ... wow JE Jones could really be the black equivalent of Perry, ... a sort of father figure with a "stern" attitude to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" ... and I kind of warmed to the idea when I first saw the episode.
I don't see why some people are choosing to moan about this. I think it's a wonderful idea.
As someone from an ethnic minority, I must say I wouldn't want a black Superman, as the image of what superman looks like to me and many people has kind of been engraved for 70 odd years. But making the supporting cast a bit more cultured would go a long way to show that they really ARE modernising the saga.

I only dislike one thing about this casting:
That Fishburne isn't Luthor. Fishburne would make a tremendous Lex Luthor. That said, I think that he will make a tremendous Perry as well.
Did I miss any posts where people thought he would be better for Lex? I used to read it online all the time, back when Matrix was going on people thought he had a good look for Lex.
First off has someone already mentioned they would have seen him more as Lex?
Secondly does this mean we are more likely to see reporter Clark?
Thirdly, not the role I would have pictured him in but what a cast!
I LOVE the choice for Perry, but it just made me giggle a bit inside when I read an African-American actor would be up for playing a guy with the last name of White, lol.
If you are going to copy my post at least quote me.

I'd LOVE for Kara to be in this movie franchise. But save her for the sequel(s).
Its funny Fishburnes casting has met less opposition than Cavill's as Superman.Yeah because eveyone has been saying "Perry White should be white"
The reaction has been mostly positive.
