Days of Future Past Hugh Jackman IS The Wolverine Thread - Part 1

It made me laugh to see that Xavier still sounded a little irritated when he said, "Logan, don't you have a class to teach?"

Whatever happened in those 50 years, it seems Logan is still a bit of a pain in the ***. :funny:

It doesn't look like much changed between him and Cyclops, either.

The neverending Scott and Logan ***-measuring contest is one of the timeless aspects of the X-franchise. It must be there no matter what timeline or continuity. The universe will implode otherwise.

Just read the "live blogging" of the Tony Awards dress rehearsals - sounds like it's going to be a fabulous show tonight (with some elements of Hugh's "Back on Broadway" thrown in).

8:00 ET on CBS, hint hint....:yay:

Assuming you follow him on Insta also, did you see the video he just posted in the bathroom? That was great lol.

Damn Hugh is such a suave lad. That little stroll he did at the end for the female nominees was hot.

You should see what he's like in person (see the quote from someone about "suave" in my signature below)! Too bad in shows like this you are on a time limit and have to be concerned with commercial breaks. A few times when they came back from commercial Hugh was still playing with the audience which he did when we were watching commercials. Yeah, that female nominee thing was great.

Many people didn't *get* the hopping at the beginning - it was a tribute to a Bobby Van movie called "Small Town Girl" - he hops past the movie on a TV at some point, besides performers getting ready to appear. I was tired just watching him! That was four minutes of hopping! And then he went into tap dancing! And not even out of breath!

The rap bit was cute as was the ending. Rosie O'Donnell even got in a Wolverine reference when she was on stage LOL. And in one of his monologues Hugh joked he had a body double for his nude scene in the movie and it was one of the next presenters and guess which one - and out comes Keven Bacon and Leighton Meister LOL.

I have the Les Miz movie too much embedded in my brain - I thought their production number of One Day More was just okay.

Stephen Fry was at Hedwig and the Angry Inch when I saw it the other night. I didn't see him, but he tweeted he was there.

The show was fun! The hopping thing was insane. Did anyone else notice he almost tripped going down the stairs? Close one, Hugh!

I loved when he sang to the actress nominees. Idina cracked me up when he sat on her lap. I loved the bits backstage when they went to the commercials too.

And I thought the Music Man thing was really funny. My Facebook seemed to split right down the middle of people loving that, or getting their collective panties in a bunch that *that* was part of the Tonys (and it's funny that I don't remember any of them complaining when he did that bit in his solo show a few years ago).

Very happy Bryan Cranston and the guy playing the Genie in Aladdin won (he looked like he was having more fun than anyone last night). Beyond ****ing PSYCHED at everything Hedwig won.

I can't wait to see the new Les Miz. One Day More is my favorite song in that show. And me and my friends all nicknamed Ramin Karimloo "hottie Valjean". :funny:

What was really neat in DOFP was that Wolverine played the role of the character who most believed in the idea of the X-Men. When he first met the other X-Men, Logan was utterly dismissive of the idea of working as a team, and Xavier had to persuade him to see things otherwise. Now Wolverine went back in time with the mission of persuading Xavier's younger self to believe in the idea of the X-Men once again, even though that dream seemed to be gone. In contrast to before, Wolverine played the role of guide for Xavier in getting him to believe in the X-Men's mission and ideals. It was a dramatic reversal for Logan, and it shows how much he's evolved as a character all this time.

Agree 100% with this. I loved the show! It made me wish i lived in the USA so i could go to all of those shows. I thought Hugh did a fantastic job, i was entertained :woot:

Loved it! The bit with the actresses in the audience was fabulous! And the Music Man thing was a hoot (we saw the whole thing first-hand at his show, right danoyse)? Hugh really knows how to work a room. And that four min. of hopping - I can barely do it for four seconds! The tap dancing, the ending, the jokes, fabulous.

No one has mentioned Allen Cumming! I thought he was great in the Cabaret number.

Love Alan Cumming. I saw him in Cabaret the first time he did the show on Broadway, he was amazing. We were in standing room up in the balcony, so we got the "Hello, poor people!!" wave. :funny:

He's super-nice too. We saw him at the Virgin Megastore (remember that??) in Times Square a few months after 9/11, when they were performing songs from the Broadway Cares Christmas CD, and he told us how a bunch of the proceeds from BC/EFA collections that year were going to the firehouse on 48th that lost its whole crew in the towers.

I thought the rap thing was funny, and the hopping as well. It was a fun show. I also liked when he referenced his buttshot in DOFP and said "Thanks, Mum!" when someone cheered. :funny:

I also liked when Hugh said Neil Patrick Harris sent him a text message to congratulate him when it was announced he was hosting, "At least that's I think 'WTF' means, right?" And Neil is nodding like, "Yeah!" and then looking at the camera and shaking his head. :funny:

I still wish Hugh would have gotten until the Sugar Daddy number. It would have been like a revisit of The Sarah Jessica Parker Incident of 2004. :oldrazz:

Watching "Prisoners" for the 1st time, 1h30min in. Jackman is very good. But damn, Gyllenhaal is even better. This movie is full of good performances.

I have Prisoners on blu-ray. But I haven't watched it since I saw it in the theater because it scared the **** out of me.

I understand. I'm currently disturbed like a [bad grown-up word].

I really loved the little details in his future costume!

^agreed. I kinda wanted to see more of Wolvie in the future because it looked so good.

That movie is solid, and has some incredible performances.

I know, I wished we would have seen more action in the suit as well. It looked really cool!

Speaking of Wolvie's suit...today's lesson in terrible internet journalism can be found here:

http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/25083/20140616/hugh-jackman-wolverine-costume.htm

They have a photo of the yellow costume that was seen in the alternate ending of The Wolverine and claiming it's a "leaked" image of his Apocalypse suit.

It's actually a photo from the press event Fox held when The Wolverine was released on blu-ray. They posted that on their own FB page that night.

Hugh should be honored to be lit and framed by Roger Deakins.

Oh, I noticed the excellent cinematography right away. Such a well-crafted film. Felt like a throwback to some established 70s classics in some ways too.
