Homecoming John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein ARE Sony & Marvel's 'Spider-Man' Writers

Wait, they did Horrible Bosses? This might actually be good. It doesn't mean Vacation was but they can at least make a decent comedy.

A problem with pretty much all of their scripts seems to be that they are uneven, and their jokes are hit or miss. Most reviews attribute the success of Horrible Bosses to the cast, and apparently Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is fun and entertaining despite the script/plot.

I'm basing this purely off of what I've read from reviews, having not actually seen most of their films.

They better do a GREAT job with Spidey, no mediocre/generic scripts pls

Wow it must be REALLY bad if he gave it that rating considering he seems to love every single movie he reviews lmao
How do you figure he loves every single movie he reviews?

Why?

Did Feige head up production on Vacation?
Does Feige being involved automatically mean they're going to write a fantastic story? Why wouldn't this be concerning?

Feige heading up a movie where the writers and director have unproven resumes has worked well in the past.

Because he rarely gives negative ratings.
Can't say I agree with this, been watching his reviews for years and I've seen him rip TONS of movies apart. To each their own though.

I was thinking of who should have been writing this Spider-Man movie.

Why didn't Marvel go after Adam McKay? He helped rewrite Ant-Man after Feige left. He's a comic book fan he said. He wrote and directed Anchorman 1 and 2, Step Brothers, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, The Other Guys, and more. He knows comedy and likes comics and is a part of the Marvel family so why not him at least writing it?

It's too perfect and smart and yet we get writers who are basically are no different from Orci and Kurtzman.

Again for me who cares how vacation is. That is not how spidey will be written and developed. Vacation is so far away from what spidey will be. And they seem to have grasp on the character. And again if it's not to marvel and Kevin liking they can and likely could be dropped and new writers come on. So I wouldn't fret just cause some reviewers didn't like vacation means that spidey script is doomed.

I would've much prefered McKay too. He would've been a good choice to direct as well! But oh well it's time to stop wondering what could've been. We're stuck with these guys.

I am concerned after Vacation. However...I never imagined the Russos could make a movie as amazing as Winter Soldier.

And again who's to say these guys will be the ones with names on shooting script. We could again see them leave project for what ever reason. Watts comes in does a draft or two. Then marvel brings in someone like mckay or one of there in house folks to polish up script for shooting. The film is still around ten months from starting to film. Who knows what script be by then.

And I find it funny just cause vacation getting bad reviews. Folks are all doom again after those other interviews from earlier in week folks where happy with what they where saying.

Honestly, I would've preferred Marcum and Holloway, but maybe Spider-Man isn't their thing.

Here is a good question between all the mcu films. Where was the writers first hired to pen those scripts and who's names ended up on shooting script final accredited. As I said before we seen folks come and go on other marvel films. Just cause they are hired now doesn't mean they be only ones to touch the script.

They didn't write Civil War though
That's not really my point though. My point is even though their resume concerns me on their participation, like the Russos, maybe they can really surprise me and make something really solid.

I dunno.

so i was wondering can any one make a list of first hired writers from every mcu film, and who ended up as the final credited writer on said films. It be a nice list i say to give us a peg on the likely hood they could end up off the film after a few drafts. But again i wouldnt fret about them right now. As all there interviews as of late keep saying good things. And they had to have a good ideas to impress kevin and all.

I don't think Marvel has ever "fired" a writer have they? At least not that we know of. They usually hire a writer, he does his take or draft, and they decide to use it or not or whatever.

I wish they went for Drew Goddard. I mean, these guy might be great, but they are a bet. Goddard is a certainty.

Well, nothing's ever a certainty, but I do agree that Goddard would have been a safer choice.

Eh, that's hyperbolic my man. Goddard is overrated. Matthew Vaughn on the other hand...that would've been something
