RIP Celebrity Thread - Part 3

This is turning into a very bad week for the entertainment industry.

Just saw a NBC news article that stated Tom Petty died from an accidental opiate overdose. He'd had a fractured hip and was given fentanyl patches for pain. He also had oxy in his system. This strikes me as somewhat insane. Who prescribes opiates to a recovered heroin addict? This never ends well. It didn't for Seymour Hoffman and it didn't for Petty either. :(

He could play good or bad guy....but he was best as a bad guy. The authority figure who was an a-hole was a specialty.

He's an officer in The Bridge at Remagen who pushes the main characters to take the bridge ASAP to impress his General.

Yeah, I've seen it a bunch....it's a good war movie. He plays a real dick in it. A couple of day ago I watched an episode of THE BIG VALLEY again. The show is a western....the episode is about a group of ex confederates who harass his character because they hear that he won the medal of honor. When things go too far and they are about to lynch him...it's finally explained that he won the medal for saving the lives of dozens on both sides during a battle. That's what I liked about him. He played good and bad.

I used to like him in Glee but I find it hard to muster much sympathy for him.

Sympathy for his family TBH... to go through what they have due to his actions.... and now this.... no family should go through that.

Wonder how long before the tabloids start on about "The curse of Glee..."

I can have sympathy for his old Glee "family" (who already lost Cory Monteith, and now this) and his other loved ones, more so than for Salling himself.

The whole situation with Salling was all just.....unfortunate, to say the least.

I hate anything that gives the homophobes stupid ammunition.

And all of their ammunition is stupid.

That'd be pretty flimsy ammunition. Neither Monteith nor Salling were gay, and with his best-selling book series, Chris Colfer is probably the most successful of them post-Glee and (as far as we can tell) pretty well-adjusted.

Flimsy ammunition?

Has that ever stopped them before like attacking gays for a single cherry picked bible verse or claiming people force themselves to be gay and the attraction isn't natural?

Like I said all their ammunition is stupid.
