Captain Marvel's Power Level - Predictions and what would we like to see

If they don't have a scene where Captain Marvel overpowers Thor and/or Hulk, then what's even the point? It would be like not having that scene where Shuri demonstrates just how much more intelligent she is than Tony and Bruce while Bruce stammers awkwardly like a doofus. You can't have female empowerment without a little emasculation, right?
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she fights them both.

they will most likely be pissed on why she didn't come here to protect the Earth or something like that.

Scarlet Johansson said that there is a scene in A4 where Captain Marvel puts her hand on Hulk's chest.

I doubt Hulk would allow that.

Carol will put her hand on Hulk's chest without his consent? So not only will she brutally beat all the boys up just to assert her girl power, she will also commit sexual assault against them? Good heaven, what a monster.

eh I think she will stop him in his tracks or something.

I doubt it's something... sexual :)

Carol is also supposed to be an excellent hand-to-hand fighter with superb agility, I'm wondering if that will be featured as well...

Her powers & abilities make her a very well-rounded Avenger, Feige saying she'll be the most powerful in the MCU seems about right.

Kevin Feige stated she will much more powerful than any other character introduced so far. Power levels off-the charts.

I actually like that! She will be first true cosmic level hero to be introduced, so it's fine she's so powerful!

Some fans of other characters aren't reacting well to this. You can see a lot of: she shouldn't be so powerful, she will make other characters seem weak and useless, and even the she can't be that powerful, nor more powerful than my fave..

I sense a bit of envy and denial; almost as if they feel threatened by her.
I find it all funny. :)

I believe what Feige is trying to say with all his dumb statements is that CM will have abilities that other characters, including Thor, don't. For example, take that scene in Infinity War where Thor almost gets [BLACKOUT]killed by an energy beam[/BLACKOUT]... well, Carol would've just absorbed it, and not because she's stronger than him, but simply because that is one of her powers.

She also has superspeed and the ability to travel freely through the void of space, both powers that movie Thor doesn't seem to possess.

There are people who have said they want the Captain Marvel movie to flop, solely because Feige said she's going to be the most powerful character of all. Power doesn't necessarily mean strength, it's all her other powers that make her powerful.

Anyway, let the fan boys cry, I know Captain Marvel will knock it out of the park.

he said she will be able to punch a Moon away.

that would be badass af.

I have said it before but I don't think CM will be physically the strongest in terms of pure strength. I think she will be strong as hell, but below Thor and Hulk. In combination with her other powers is what will put her above the rest.

possible.

I also have a strong feeling that she won't have energy absorption.

You already can see some are in denial.

My favorite description about her power levels: Kevin Feige has described Captain Marvel as the MCU’s “most powerful hero by far… If you had the collector cards of the Marvel characters and you could see the power levels, she would be off the charts compared to anyone that we’ve previously introduced in a film.”

Seems pretty clear she's being set up to be the MCU's Superman equivalent, the hero that can solo everything they come into contact with.

Correct. What Feige has stated several is pretty clear. But if people want to "interpret" it as Cap.Marvel will be just about as powerful as the other guys or she'll only have more powers and training, then We can't do anything.

Except for the fact that there's nothing to interpret.

Didn't Brie Larson kind of confirm there's a scene in in A4 where Carol puts a hand on Hulk's chest and that's enough to physically stop him.

Nope, it was Scarlett Johansson and this is what she said:
We have Brie Larson on this film. She’s here before shooting the stand-alone Captain Marvel movie so we get to watch her get her feet wet for real. She’s so great, but a really cute thing happened the other day where Hulk is standing next to her and Joe Russo told her to put her hand in front of Mark [Ruffalo]’s face to stop him, and she’s like, “In front of his face?” And they explained, “that’s where his chest is,” and she looks up and yells, “I’m new! I’m new!”
I'd still like to know if "I'm new! I'm new!" was just Brie being funny or if it's what her character will actually say in that scene.

Power doesn't necessarily mean strength, it's all her other powers that make her powerful.
Yep, pretty much.

Have you paid attention to many of Feige’s other statements that aren’t open to interpretation and then watched IW? Going by those Carol better spend the next few decades practising for an arm wrestle with Hawkeye. :woot:

yeah, something like that.

I doubt it's a friendly tap.

and Hulk definitely will be pissed.

they love superhero fights.

her weakness will by psychical or something.

she will basically be Sentry.

I just don't understand why the MCU suddenly needs someone like that, though. I've always liked that the MCU heroes have had more toned down powerlevels, just as how I always liked that the DC Animated Universe toned down Superman.

I feel like the sole reason they're doing this is so they can be the first ones to say "our equivalent to Superman is a woman", rather than because there's a narrative benefit to having an equivalent to Superman.

well, there is definitely something about female empowerment in MCU now.

not that it is bad ofc.

I wouldn't worry about power levels.

back during A1, Thor and Hulk were miles above everyone but the threat was too big for 2 heroes too fight so CM being way above them shouldn't be a big problem as long as they make it right.

the full interview (always found shorter version hehe)
They came in many, many times and impressed us in the room with what they had to say about Carol Danvers. […] They live in New York and they would fly out at a moment’s notice to come in and pitch on it, which always means a lot. Anna and Ryan had a strong sense of, not just the plotting and the machinations of the plot, but on Carol’s journey, which is the most important thing about the movie. We can help out with all the accoutrements of action and sci-fi worlds, but we wanted someone who could really be a guiding hand to Carol and to Brie [Larson] and to that journey, which is what the whole movie is about: someone becoming the most powerful being in the universe. You look at their work and like most of the directors we’ve hired, [they’re] not giant, effects-drive action, but rather very unique and very personal character stories and character journeys. And very diverse, in terms of the subject matter they’ve chosen to tell and they nail it every time. I think they see Carol as another rich, three-dimensional character to explore, who just happens to be able to fly and punch through moons and to lead intergalactic teams.

Oooh, I love that last part about leading intergalactic teams. :awesome:
As for the first sentence you bolded, well, that has to be an exaggeration. Come on, most powerful being in the universe? Even more powerful than Squirrel Girl? That would be ridiculous.

Yeah, I feel like that quote gave us a great hint at what's in store for Carol. And if she doesn't punch through a moon at some point now, I shall cry "false advertising." :oldrazz:

I wonder what punch through the Moon would look like.

something like how Goku punched through King Kai's planet???

Hmm... Marv himself was no slouch in power and he also had the "cosmic awareness" which isn't anything to sneeze at, as ill defined as it can be presented. What if what we get here is a mix of both Carol's classic power set AND Marv's powers? I still think it would be a good call to intigrate Marv's "handler" Eon and the "protector of the univeres" title for Marv who then passes the mantle to Carol.

I feel like the powers debate might be influencing our interpretation of that comment by Johansson.

Remember the scenes between Valkyrie and Hulk in Ragnarok?

I seem to recall Valkyrie stepping on Hulk at one point, for example. They seemed pretty friendly.

Whatever happens, I'm guessing Thor and Hulk will handle it better than fans will :cwink:
