Wonder Woman 1984 General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Nice that there's the hybrid option for those who want to watch it at home and those who can get to see it at a theater.

I know there's a cinema not too far from me that's showing movies, so at the very least I'll probably see it on a big screen.

I honestly think this is a mistake.

Guess I'll be waiting for the Blu-ray on this one, but I have no doubt this movie will now lose WB alot of money.

Can't believe they willingly took a kick to the balls twice this year.

A local guy (who works in the film industry) was joking around that theaters might be broke and out of business come February/March...this would appear to be a sign he was right.

I would guess HBO Max will cut a deal with Roku rather quickly...

I wonder if they'll provide an international streaming option.

I dont think they have a choice.

And I doubt they will be the only ones since this winter is looking to be a COVID nightmare even with positive vaccine news.

I know it's petty but I don't like it. The Marvel and DC flix I feel are above just debuting on streaming as it takes away from the spectacle and events that they used to be. But it's the world we live in.

Love this idea. I actually am loving films being released for home viewing. Makes things so much easier. Hoping this is a trend going forward honestly.

Whenever I see a movie that's being released on VOD in theaters at the same time I doubt the quality is all that good and that's what this kind of reminds me of. This movie doesn't really fall into that category.

Big thanks to WB for completely screwing me by moving this film from Oct to December. Could have seen it last month, but now theaters are closed in my area and they sure as hell won't be open again next month.

Terrible decision. I feel like this kills any chances of a theatrical Wonder Woman 3, honestly.

I doubt it...unless theaters really do go under. WB isnt going to scrap it just because half this country is stupid and couldnt follow the rules.

Plus if things re-open they will just "re-release" it and make it an event.

We will see though...who knows where america will be in 5 months let alone a couple years from now.

Yeah, I'd much rather see this in theaters and would prefer to preserve the traditional theatrical window.

But this is definitely a win for all those folks who don't want to leave their couches to go out and do anything anymore -- many of whom felt that way pre-COVID and will feel the same way post-COVID.

It bugs me because all this **** could have been avoided if people had done what they were supposed to months ago.

As a fan I don't like having an event movie put on streaming but as someone who owns a business I get why they have to.

idk how this makes enough to justify its budget now

When every American masks up & practices social distance then maybe we can manage the spread of this pandemic better.

Even with the vaccine options coming up there are people who say they won't take it. I don't think we will be returning to theaters until 2022 at the earliest.

A movie like this shouldn't be going to streaming. Nothing we can do about it though and if I can, I'll be seeing it in the theater and watching it on HBO Max

How can I watch this in the UK? HBO Maxx isn't available here as is the case with most markets outside of the US & Canada.

Pray that a cinema is open come release (and risk getting a severe illness)...

OR

WB will charge you up to £30 to RENT the movie digitally for 48 hours with only ONE viewing. While the US gets unlimited viewing for free.

I mean I know studios are really hurting right now, but honestly this news stills breaks my heart, because I was actually pretty amped for this movie and there is nothing like seeing a Marvel or DC movie on the bigscreen as it was meant to be seen in the first place.

The early rumors about Black Widow going to Disney Plus in December as well might actually have some truth to them too and if that happens it would suck even more, because both BW and WW84 were some of most anticipated films of this year and I wanted to experience them the right way.

I can only hope that Dune and The Batman don't suffer a similar fate, but as of right now next year isn't looking too promising at all for any blockbusters either.
