Space Jam: A New Legacy

I'm willing to give it a chance. But based on various things I've ready I have very little hope for it.

But, Since I have HBO Max, I can go back and watch all the original Looney Tunes that I want. That includes the great characters they have either gotten rid of or changed to be PC.........

I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong. so I guess I'll see how this goes.

yea I’ll still watch it. It’s just… idk feels like it’s trying to hard to connect with the kids of today when the old one is just a 90s movie made to be 90s. This one is trying to be nostalgic while trying to grab a new generation. Idk everything just seems eh rn

Wait, people are now joining me on the it looks bad train? Vindication!!!!

I want it to fail for one reason: to see LeBron melt down and blame someone (not himself) for the film's failures.

Lebron as the star is such a turn off! Do studios really think we want a whole movie about him? He's the acting equivalent of a burnt cake.

.......this movie literally wouldn’t exist without LeBron. It was made by LeBron for LeBron.

Anyways, I’m not going to confirm or deny anything, but I will tell everyone not to get your hopes up.

Good point! It looks equivalent to the modern big-budget streaming movie

I just hate the animation for the Looney Tunes. And the fact that this movie lacks a soundtrack that slaps like the OG movie.

You had to be a child of the 90s to love the original I guess. Cause every kid from back then loves the movie . It’s pretty much a good representation of childhood in the 90s .

the problem is that bugs bunny and crew were around heavily in the 90s but now they aren’t at all unless ur watching boomerang

I am not going to proclaim the 1st movie as some type of Oscar worthy masterpiece of filmmaking. But it was at least....entertaining. This one just looks flat and boring

The casting for the first film was weird from the perspective of NBA players.

Mugsy Bogues, Charles Barkley, Larry Johnson and Patrick Ewing I understood.....but Shawn Bradley? Over Shaq?

At least the sequel has elite level players from both NBA and WNBA.

That's hardly the most essential element of the movie though. First movie at least had some personality to it and fun. This just looks like an algorithm made it.

I have wondered if R Kelly being involved in the first film's soundtrack makes it hard to watch the movie these days. I would assume so.

But it did not have a personality. That was made by an algorithm as well, they made successful commercials to sell shoes and Looney Tunes and said let's make a movie of that and make lots of money. Nothing more artistic than that. And that's fine. Which is exactly what this sequel is.

The biggest point against the sequel is a lack of Bill Murray.

I dont agree with this. Yes, it was a movie made based on a series of commercials, but the filmmakers behind it at least had fun with the concept. I don't feel fun in this from we have seen at all.

Shaq was busy filming Kazaam. :o

But seriously, you look at the designs of the Monstars and it shows that they went for looks over talent. You can pretty easily tell that the blue one is based on Shawn Bradley, the red one is based on Muggsy, the orange one Barkley, green one Ewing, etc.

I'll agree with the algorithm comment about the sequel but the first movie was basically a commercial, as @DarkKnight88 said. That thing was made to sell sneakers, jerseys, toys, and Happy Meals.

Not at all, not for me anyway. While I'm aware at some of the R Kelly crimes/allegations/convictions I dont follow that kind of news negative and horrible news 24/7 so I'm sure he iss guilty of even more things than I'm aware of.
But of course, with the number of horrible people in the entertainment industry that have been exposed..... there wouldnt be much entertainment left. Thats not me excusing such horrible acts. I hope all of them are exposed!

It really pains to say that though. For example, take the fairly recent allegations against Joss Whedon.... If proven true that he is a racist and abuser would that make it difficult to watch the Avengers films? Firefly? Buffy? etc.? Because of one bad egg involved in an otherwise diverse series of films and shows with other people that are not guilty of such things.

I was five years old when the first one came out. I loved it. Have you seen it as an adult? It’s a pile of **** and none of the Tunes even act like themselves. Nostalgia is a powerful drug, but not that powerful.

Yo weez, have you seen this movie?

Chuck Jones reportedly hated what they did with the characters. That's what actually led Joe Dante to do Looney Tunes: Back In Action which was codenamed the Anti-Space Jam at the time.

Interviewer: Like you, I am a huge Warner Bros cartoons fan. But do you think they should just stop doing new stuff with the Bugs Bunny cast of characters?

Joe Dante: Frankly, that would be okay with me. That era was over in 1960. The theatrical cartoons that they produced after 1960, which I remember having to suffer through at the movies, were just abominable. They weren't funny, they were badly animated, they were sub-television level and almost everything they've done since is just a pale shadow of what the great cartoons were. I can tell you from experience that the people currently running Warner Bros have no interest or understanding of that period or those characters. I was making a movie for them with those characters [Looney Tunes: Back in Action] and they did not want to know about those characters. They didn't want to know why Bugs Bunny shouldn't do hip-hop. It was a pretty grim experience all around.

I assume not much has changed.

a lot of people say they didn’t act right. How so? I’m asking cause I didn’t notice. Bugs acted like he always did and so did daffy. I mean idk am I missing certain things they do?

It’s no masterpiece but it’s not awful. To me anyway
