The final phase 4 movie is finally showing in my country but I will wait til the weekend for the film to Lift Me Up.

But for those who have already seen it, you can now post your reviews here. Spoilers in a spoiler tag as always.

Alright, where do I start?

Pros
+ Its refreshing that a movie finally balance drama and humor again, some little doses are there and its not a bad thing
+ Grieve is very good executed, I liked the culture behind it
+ Give Angela Bassett all Awards!
+ Also Okoye has some great comedy and drama scenes
+ The costume design is outstanding, a save bet for Oscars
+ Same goes for the score
+ I really adore the politic theme
+ (Un)expected Cameos spice things up
+
I like how Val is portrayed here, promising for Thunderbolts
+ Namor

Cons
- Shuri is looking like a skinny Steve body double. Give that girl a sandwich.
- There was no need MAJOR SPOILER
of killing Queen Ramona. Even more weird, in the end Shuri just grieve in the end for him and not for her mother
-
Its repetition of the TChalla/Bucky arc. I guess the parallel was intended, but there should be something more interesting to tell
- I am not happy with the outcome of the conflict
TChalla got Zemo in custody, but Shuri was like... "Yeah, I give you what you want"
- I loved the female power in Black Panther, but this one feels a little bit emphy. MBaku as the only man left is useless the whole movie.

All in all, I will give this a good 8 of 10.

This is great. For me, it’s better than the first. Rather light on action but packed of emotions and compelling storytelling. One cameo/side plot smells shoehorn for future projects. Taken out, it would make zero difference to the movie, maybe better for the flow.

It’s a rather long movie but unlike some critics I didn’t feel it since it’s engrossing for me. Music, top notched, so as design and cinematography. Very cinematic.

Between 9 and 10/10 in initial impression choosing 9 for now.

I watched it yesterday and to be honest, I'm still processing it. There are things I didn't like, but can't find the words.

I can start by staying it's overall a good movie and that I didn't even feel the 2h40m pass. That's a very good thing.

There are some things that felt weird and rushed to me.

The conflicts between Wakanda and Talocan felt forced to me and kind of reminded me of some of the problems MoM had related to Wanda's motivations. It lacked something. It wasn't convincing enough to me. And politically speaking, I feel like they lost a chance to unite these two nations/people against US american imperialism. But it's ridiculous of me to expect them to antagonize USA like that in Hollywood.

Regarding the new characters, I really liked Riri, I loved Namor, but they lost me on Aneka. I had big expectations for her because it's Michaela Coel, and I felt her role was very disappointing.

I agree with Kev4000. I think it was unnecessary to kill Ramonda. I actually think this movie didn't need any death, since it was already dealing with a very painful one. And they killed her to give a motivation. And as much as I loved Namor... it's going to be hard to redeem him from that.

The first scene and especially the final one are very moving and touching.

I guess that's what I have to say for now.

I think it was good, but similar feelings like after I watched Thor L&T and MoM - good but not very good.

What really annoyed me was the blurry background in some scenes (watched it in IMAX)

haven't seen it yet- but love all the details u give in ur review w/out giving spoilers, well done.

Maybe one of the reasons the conflict might feel forced is because Namor was the antagonist in the original script facing off against T'Challa. Ryan really wanted to introduce Namor so maybe he struggled a bit finding a new conflict and put him in cuz he really wanted to focus in on him. That's just me speculating i have no idea--- don't even know if I'll have the same takeaway. Cant wait to find out in 2 more hours!!!!

Yeah, I mean, this was a really hard movie to make. Coogler had to rewrite the script after Boseman's death, deal with his grief and the cast's. Shoot the movie during the pandemic. Face issues like injuries that affected the filming, etc... all of that while trying to pay tribute to Boseman.

So yeah, it was hard.

It's easily an 8/8.5 film. How they dealt with Namor was *chefs kiss*

How they dealt with the T'Challa of it all was very well done.

Didn't really need a certain character imo and some of the "upgrades" I hate and wish were left out of the film or done differently.

Want to watch again before doing a full review, which I am on Tuesday. But I do think Black Panther was better than Wakanda Forever overall, but it is hard for me to picture this movie being any better given the circumstances. I think maybe they could have trimmed out some of the Everett Ross stuff to streamline the movie, but overall...I liked the movie quite a bit

It's not as good as the original Black Panther, but that was going to be tough to pull off regardless.

It's an emotionally moving tribute to Chadwick Boseman and T'Challa and the way it explores grief and mourning is fairly well done, using that as the crux of Shuri's journey.

I just think the way it mixes Talokan and Namor just is wonky and doesn't work very well. It's not well thought out or explained. There's also a fairly big subplot that is left totally unresolved, and that's in a movie that is already close to 3 hours long. The movie feels both bloated but also incomplete.

I'm sorry but Namor is an unlikable jerk here and lacks any sort of rogue-ish charm.

Just got home. I really wanted to like it and thought I'd might but I wasn't expecting to absolutely love it! For me it's 3 times better than the original Black Panther which I liked a lot but didn't love. This I loved!!

An entire range of emotions and really good storytelling-- acting was sublime, the music was on point, cinematography divine, costuming amazing, Namor off the chains-- I meant it just all worked for me.

the runtime wasn't an issue-- this is my kind of MCU!

my 4th favorite MCU movie only behind Infinity War, Endgame and Cap: Winter Soldier then Wakanda Forever!

can't wait for my 2nd viewing.

Very good film 8.5/10

Wasn’t expecting first scene to open like that!! It was pin drop silence in my packed movie theater. They handled TChalla death amazingly well

loved the cast all did amazing performances especially Wright and actor that played Namor

action was also great the Talokan people were pretty cool

I just feel conflict at the end was a cop out I clearly wanted a winner and loser but we didn’t get that maybe we can see that in the future.

I was surprised how well this movie was will definitely watch it again in theaters

So, in some ways I think Black Panther does things better, but in other ways that are important to me, Wakanda Forever is superior. I guess a better way of saying it is Black Panther is the better "Marvel" movie. Wakanda Forever is a better Ryan Coogler film and frankly that matters more to me.

One of my biggest gripes with the first Black Panther was that it felt like Marvel was holding Ryan Coogler back from really telling the story he would've told if he had full autonomy the way he did with Creed or Fruitvale Station. It's an iconic film but something I never could get over was that perhaps the vision was compromised a little due to the Marvel machine. Here Marvel let Coogler's vision really come through and mind you this is after Chadwick passed away, which should've been crippling for the film. Wakanda Forever doesn't have the propulsive momentum that BP did, but that's of course due to the movie being more somber. BP also has less narrative hiccups and better pacing than WF as well. However WF's action is a lot better, the acting is better and the story feels so personal. Shuri is great in this movie and I wasn't a fan of her in the first film. Plus I love the subtexts Ryan Coogler touches upon with this movie. I can go on and on about it.

I loved the movie and I can't stop thinking about it. Probably the best Phase 4 film for me.

Yeah me too!! It really stays in ur mind. It's the next day for me just woke up and had breakfast and my thoughts went immediately back to the movie. To be fair though I've been super active in this thread prior to the movie so for me maybe that's not a big deal was really hyped for this. Even still, I rarely if ever see the same movie twice so soon. I will usually wait a month before seeing it again. But this one I can't wait to see again immediately. Booked another showing for Sunday. For me this is unheard of!!

Im seeing sorta mixed reactions on most forums and a-lot of people saying they should have just recasted challa. For those that have seen this is it worth running out this weekend or waiting a bit wont hurt? Marvel has kind of let me down this year

Powerful movie with fantastic performances all around. It's not perfect, but I thought it handled things well enough for me to say it accomplished what it needed to. Overall, a solid 8/10.

I thought overall this was a very good movie. Its one of those rare MCU movies that just feel like a movie and not an "installment." The movie had a lot on its mind and a lot to say and I thought it was mostly successful in saying it. I kind of felt like Riri was shoehorned into the movie but she was a fun presence nonetheless, the film was so sad and heavy it needed a couple of light hearted characters like her to balance it. Laetitia Wright carried the movie very and did the very best she could given the circumstances. The directing was great, the mood was right, the score was fantastic once again, Namor is one of the best MCU villains, he makes his menacing presence felt early and gives you a reason to fear him.

Chadwick's absence is definitely felt though. I missed him watching this movie and wonder what the film would have been like with him. however Coogler and co honored him very well and thats all we could have hoped for.

I think it's the best MCU film this year and I'd only rank it behind No Way Home and Shang-Chi as far as Phase 4 films.

The movie itself was good but beyond that it was a beautiful tribute to Chadwick Boseman.

Everyone in the returning cast was just as great as they were in the first film. I really liked Tenoch Huerta's Namor and I can't wait to see him show up again in the MCU.

The runtime didn't bother me much but the pacing did feel off at times. Most of the Everett Ross plotline could have been cut and the film wouldn't have lost anything.

It was also the most beautifully shot MCU film in a long time. Coogler delivered again.

Yeah but here in this forum where ur posting there isn't a single bad review up yet! Not a single person has said the movie was let down by not recasting (here in this forum yet). It's kind of remarkable that not a single person has posted and said they don't like the movie (not speaking about those other forums just this one).

I know there's a contingency of people who are against this movie because they didn't recast and for those people who can't get past that I actually understand but if that's ur main gripe and u know u can't let that go then maybe this movie won't be for u.

Interesting fact, the guy who started the #racastTchalla movement (YouTuber EMan of Emans movie reviews) was given a premier pass from Marvel and they also let him have access to Nate Moore (the producer) for an interview. He hasn't posted the interview yet but said he will once the movie is out (so maybe it's out now, not sure). But the interesting part was he still maintains they did the wrong thing, he's still hurt by the choice (Black Panther was his childhood idol), through all that, he's given the movie a positive review!!!

EMan has said Wakanda Forever had lots of problems and was far from a perfect movie and definitely not the movie he wanted yet he couldn't deny it was a well made movie and overall a good one he would recommend. This is the guy that personally started the movement and has been interviewed by mainstream media and now has a relationship with Chadwick Boseman's brother. If he can be won over by the movie it's possible others with an open mind and heart can too. But if the recast part is something u know u can't get over-- then this might not be the movie for u. Cuz the movie wasn't apologetic and didn't shy away from his death at all-- so be warned.

For what it's worth the movie is at over 94% with audiences (verified) on RT. I'm not sure what the CinemaScore is but that should be an indicator of what audiences feel-- it at the end of the day I recommend u having ur own personal experience and not relying solely on others to dictate what U feel. Even if u hate it, seeing a bad movie van still be entertaining. DC let's me down quite a bit but I go see all their movies anyway cuz I like the genre and most movies have some entertainment value -- even the bad ones. E sure to add ur review after u see it! I'd be curious to hear ur thoughts.

Everyone put there every being into this film for respect to Chadwick. Soon as the marvel titles came on. It felt like a minutes silence to realign our thoughts on the passing of Chadwick. They handled this film with ultimate TLC while at the same time produced a great film in Marvels library and in particular phase 4. Fantastic acting from the main cast especially Letitia Wright (she had a mammoth task at hand) loved the soundtrack of this film and in particular the scene with discovering a certain world. My god..... That for me was one of the best ethereal experiences with imagery ive had in a longtime. If you didn't feel anything then you are cold as stone lool That scene alone will rival a " certain " film being released in December. Namor and the Atlantis people were badass and loved his conflicted antihero ideologies.

Ryan really put his stamp on this film. He took a few risks here which ultimately paid off imo definitely less of a typical marvel fim than the others that have been released. Marvel really needed a film like this in there latest batch and for them to give Ryan abit of breathing room this time around gives me some type of reassurance that theres hope for phase 4 over the horizon.....

Downsides were Riri and the running time but those were quite minor all things considered.

8.5/10
