Black Panther: Wakanda Forever OFFICIAL SPOILERS THREAD

Just watched it and loved it. Letita, Angela, Duke and Tenoch were amazing. I loved Namor, the origin, his background, motives and blend with Mesoamerican culture. The feathered serpent helmet was *chefs kiss* I really liked the soundtrack for this as well as the sublteties of like using blue for the Mayan dialect.

My only gripe was the third act and transition of Shuri - or anyone - to become the Black Panther. I don't think the Black Panther was necesary and that the movie worked well with focusing on the characters. I think having Shuri earn the Black Panther at the end after the fight would have had more impact but then again the last fight with Namor wouldn't have been as brutal and it would have solidified Letitia as the Black Panther. The way it ended it seems like they left the door open for Duke to become the Black Panther in case the reaction to Letita was not positive.

I will watch it again but as of now it's in my top 3 of Phase 4 right after Multiverse of Madness and Eternals

Gonna be hard for me to ever like Namor after this film. He's a genocidal sociopath, who believes he is a god.
That's exactly why he's going to be a great addition to the mcu. All of that personality and arrogance mingling with the likes of Dr. Strange and Wong or Cap and Bucky could be fun to see.

I know The Snap is the past and moving on from that but I wish they had a line from Namor how they dealt with that. It didn't appear he was snapped along with Attuma or Namora.

Liked it a lot, although I need to let it marinate more. I don't know if I liked the changes they made to Namor but I'm looking forward to seeing how he interacts with other characters in the MCU.

I don't think there was a dry eye in my theater within two minutes of this thing.

I was not expecting Val or Kilmonger to show up, so those were cool surprises but the thing with Val and Ross could have been better. Curious if he'll pop up in Thunderbolts now though.

Definitely need to think about this more before I can really "dig in" and give more of my thoughts.

It'd be nice if someone punches him in the jaw.

Just got out.

A lot to love here. But also a lot that feels really messy. I'll unpack more thoughts later. But in trying to fill the void left by Boseman/T'Challa, they've tried to do way too much and left nothing feeling fulfilled by the end of the movie.

The acting, direction, cinematography and production design are all still amazing. But the script is really messy, and that's a crying shame because they did so much right, but there was just too much going on to deliver coherently.

Definitely did not expect Killmonger to show up in the Ancestral Plane but loved Ramonda showing up in the Plane like near the end appearing to her daughter just as Shuri was about to kill Namor

I am pretty sure anyone can challenge for the throne though. It does not just go by blood lines, since M'Baku challenged in the 1st movie.

I wouldn't say that *anyone* could challenge, but its definitely not strictly limited to family members of the Panther clan line. While we didn't get a full treatise on Wakandan law in the first movie, the impression I got is that anyone with "standing" could challenge for the throne. Or more likely, 'anyone' could challenge for the throne, so long as they could get at least one of the ruling clans to recognize their challenge as legitimate, because ultimately Wakanda is a high functioning aristocratic monarchy. Which in practice means, you'd better either be a member of one of the ruling clans, or at least have one of them pushing to support your challenge. If your the night guard at the Wakandan Bureau of Public Transit and get struck with a bought of mania, you don't get a ritual challenge, you get firmly escorted out of the building by some scary bald women.

T'Challa probably wanted it that way plus he wouldn't have near a normal life. Wakanda is always target due to the vibranium, add in 2 attacks within a year with Killmonger then Thanos, and losing T'Challa. It just wouldn't be the best place for him at the current state.

Honestly, I suspect its less about external threats, or even threats of violence, so much as the stresses of growing up in court. Wakanda is going through an unstable period of cultural upheaval, and T'Challa didn't want his son to be the centerpiece of ten thousand political intrigues and courtly influence games. Growing up as an heir apparent in a royal court is hard, because everyone wants to be your "friend" and get a piece of you and whisper words in your ear. This way, T'Challa Jr will have a chance to grow up into being his own person *before* he has every powerful Wakandan trying to flatter and cajole him.

To help their chances in war why not give multiple people the heart-shaped herb. I know it's against tradition but it's a major war and Shuri is the queen. I would have juiced up my entire team!!

Remember, the heart shaped herb is not, ultimately, a super soldier serum. Its a religious ritual with mystical elements. If you tried dosing a whole bunch of random people with it, you'd better hope Bast approves, or else your going to get a whole bunch of corpses for your effort.

They were probably unaffected. But who knows what happened under the sea.

I needed more Namor scenes underwater the scene where he prepares for the attack on Wakanda was great and bummed out that M'Baku didn't get more screen time he's so great when he shows up

Queen Dying was super unexpected but i guess that's the only way to make Namor a serious threat I wish it was someone else to use a wrestling term do the job for Namor

Namor - El nino sin amor

I'm sorry for those that didn't like the changes while i'm not mexican i share their culture alot i'm Puerto Rican so we live together in harmony here in NY and they were so happy with Namor i loved that for them/us

I'm sure they were affected. The Snap didn't exclude anyone except for maybe the Eternals since I don't think any of them blipped. While not every movie or show has to mention it, this did seem like something kind of important since Talokan is even more removed from the world than Wakanda. I guess when the Snap happened, Namor probably scoped out what was going on in the surface world to see what was going on and once he realized that it was happening everywhere, went "Well this sucks" and dealt with it the way everyone else did.

Vile, while I really liked Namor, it’s gonna nag me that he killed the Queen Mother.

SMH lol
I would say that Namor is going to be the equivalent of Jason Statham in the Fast & Furious movies after he killed Han but then I remembered his conscience is more or less clear since Han turned out to be alive. Maybe I'll forgive him if they bring Bassett back to play a multiverse version of Storm.

"Unaffected" meaning, if they were snapped, it didn't matter to the events of this movie.

In Black Panther 3, there would be a new BP obviously. I can't see why bring someone new in that last scene just for him to be an ordinary person, especially reusing that name. Maybe in Secret Wars, he's much older.

I can already see where Marvel is going with BP3 after the multiverse. I imagine around Kang Dynasty there will probably be a time jump with them living under Kangs rule for years but instead of a five year time jump it’ll be like 15-20 years under Kangs rule and after the heroes win and the multiverse restarts with 616 earth returning some they characters will all have aged considerably. The next few year Wakanda will have gone through numerous invasions and war. T’Challas some will probably be in his early twenties and certain events will happens and he learns about his father and his lineage. Wakanda is in danger again and he goes to Wakanda and takes his rightful place on the throne and as Black Panther. It’s a wild speculation but I think it will go down something like that.

I wonder where things go forward from here. We know the U.S. wants to go to war against Wakanda, so does that set up the thunderbolts as the team sent in to "destabilize" wakanda?
And with T'challa II, does marvel let that naturally play out, or do they have some plan to age him up? On one hand I don't see them retiring shuri as the panther yet, so I imagine she'll appear at least one more time as the panther. Maybe in all of the kang madness of time travel and multiverses could bring us an older T'challa.

Having a T'Challa Jr. felt really out of the blue but Shuri (despite being Bp in the comics) just still don't feel like a main character to headline another BP movie.

So we might have a Black Panther trilogy with a different lead in each film
T'Challa
Shuri
Prince T'Challa

I don't understand the obsession with seeing this T'Challa age up all of a sudden. If the MCU is still going in 15 years or so, which is not impossible, then he can take the mantle.

Shuri is now the Black Panther of the MCU. It is what it is.
