The Ultimate College Football Thread!!!!!!!!! OMG - - Part 2

Bye Jimmy

:lmao:Dude’s laughing all the way to the bank, but’s gonna need a Brink’s truck to get his s*** there. That’s awesome.

I imagine you aren’t particularly surprised. Lol

Getting fired with $70 million? That’s a good gig if you can get it :hehe:

Not a surprise Michigan defeated Penn State because Michigan executed critical great plays. As usual in the Franklin era for Penn State, they continue to become Charlie Brown in the challenging games vs Ohio State and Michigan.

Also not a surprise that Ohio State steamrolled an outmatched rebuilding Michigan State team in Ohio State.

I'm unsurprised as a Volunteers football fan about a pretty good Tigers team in Missouri steamrolled the Volunteers because the Tigers outplayed them. Also, I'm unsurprised because the Tigers wanted an impressive statement win by demolishing the Volunteers since the Volunteers embarrassed the Mizzou Tigers in 2 uncompetitive games from the past 2 seasons.

Alabama looked like the classic Alabama aka a Juggernaut because they steamrolled Kentucky.

Georgia looked highly impressive since they bulldozed Ole Mississippi in a game that became an embarrassment. Georgia's offense in this game was an onslaught.

I'm a very happy Huskies fan because they defeated the Utes 35-28 in an entertaining high-scoring game. The Huskies defense did shut out the Utes in the second half, they also proved reliable since they scored with a safety, and 2 interceptions.
The Huskies improved to 10-0 for the first time since 1991 when they went undefeated, and they split the National Championship with Miami.

A pretty good Beavers team did at home steamrolled a rebuilding Cardinal team.
I'm realistically hopeful the Huskies defeat a pretty good Beavers team in Oregon State which is challenging except achievable if the Huskies have fewer miscues, the Huskies win TOP by prospering running the football so the Beavers offense has less opportunities to score points, and great blocking so Penix has time to throw.

It isn't a surprise that the Ducks continue to show they likely are the best 1-loss team ranked in the top 25 since they defeated the Trojans.
It is looking very likely that the Ducks will be playing the Huskies in the PAC 12 Championship game.

I am disappointed that the Cornhuskers again found a way to lose a close game since the Terrapins slightly outplayed them so second consecutive failure to become bowl eligible.
I do remain optimistic that the Cornhuskers become bowl-eligible by defeating the Badgers which is achievable in the coin flip game.

I'm a realistic Tennessee fan which is why I'm saying I expect Georgia to bulldoze a rebuilding Tennessee team. Georgia is a great team that is peaking.

I'm not surprised Oregon State at home is slightly favored vs undefeated Washington. Oregon State is a great team at home, and they do have a great running offense.
I'm hopeful Washington prospers as a slight underdog by defeating Oregon State in a thrilling close game.

On my way back from Knoxville, and for all the past year Tennessee fans have proclaimed they have the loudest stadium in the league, and Georgia was going to go up there and get the tar beat out of them because they have the loudest stadium in the conference.

They don’t.

It was very unsurprising that the Bulldogs bulldozed the Volunteers 38-10 because that was the most likely realistic result for a great Bulldogs team that is peaking playing a rebuilding Volunteers team.

Also unsurprising that Alabama steamrolled Chattanooga 66-10 because they played an outmatched team that had no realistic chance of winning the game.

Maryland gave a gutsy great performance to comeback against undefeated Michigan since they trailed 23-3, and they did succeed in making it a close game. Maryland found a way to disappoint since they were down five in the 4th quarter because they couldn't succeed in scoring a touchdown to take the lead.
A historic win for the Michigan football team since it's their 1,000 win in Program history.
It wouldn't be surprising if Michigan doesn't get into the 4 team playoffs because they've benefited from spy tactics to steal signs from other teams which violated NCAA rules.

Also unsurprising Ohio State is peaking so as expected they steamrolled Minnesota 37-3.

It was disappointing that Nebraska was outplayed by Wisconsin since Wisconsin won in overtime 24-17. A disappointing result however Nebraska still has 1 last realistic chance of becoming bowl eligible because they are at home playing a good Iowa team that doesn't have a high-scoring offense.
Nebraska finding a way to close vs Iowa in what is likely to be a close game is achievable.

I'm pretty happy as a Huskies fan that the Huskies found a way to defeat the Beavers 22-20 in rainy Oregon. The Huskies executed critical great plays needed to win a challenging road game. The dauntless Huskies improved to 11-0, and clinched a PAC 12 Championship game berth.
I did enjoy the Huskies defeating the Beavers since multiple experts including one on ON3 picked the Beavers to defeat the Huskies.

Not a surprise the Ducks steamrolled the Sun Devils in Arizona State. It is looking very likely that the Ducks will be playing the Huskies in the PAC 12 Championship game.

I taped the Ohio State v Michigan game and am just starting to watch it. I think OS has picked up their game lately and I can't say the same about Michigan; especially in the later portion of the game. We shall see.

I don't like Washington's chances against Oregon. At this point in the season, I think Oregon is the better team and I like Nix much more than I do Penix.

JJ McCarthy came up really big when the game was on the line and Corum did his usual thing. That across the body throw JJ made late in the 4th qtr isn't something I'd advise, but this guy has the athleticism to do a lot of damage. It wasn't a Bo Nix across the body throw, but it was pretty damn good. Michigan looked much better than last week and was able to run well against a very tough OS D. OS was obviously gassed at the end of the game and the wolves took advantage of it. Makes me think they might have been looking past Maryland last week.

How would you rank the top 4?

My eyeball test says

Michigan
Oregon
Ohio State
Georgia

And.....I think I'm being kind to Georgia. I could see quite a few good teams beating them.

Kentucky beat Louisville today. And that’s all that matters in Billy Gunn’s world!

Iowa does have a great defense so I'm unsurprised that they found a way to defeat my Cornhuskers in an entertaining low-scoring game . I'm less unhappy that the Cornhuskers failed to become bowl-eligible because my Huskies will be playing the Ducks in a highly anticipated Pac 12 Championship game.

Auburn found a way to fail to prevail against a great Alabama team because Milroe the Magnificent threw an incredible throw to the far corner of the end zone resulting in Alabama scoring the game-winning touchdown on a challenging 4th and goal because of where Alabama was on the field.
Alabama had a 0.1 chance of winning the game before the miraculous play so Aurbun fans will forever be disappointed by the unforgettable Charlie Brown-style choke in a competitive game.
Auburn did prosper by returning a missed field goal for a touchdown to upset Alabama in 2013 so it's unsurprising that karma would happen since 10 years later Aubrun experiences the harrowing disappointment of losing to a great Alabama team because Alabama succeeded with an unforgettable miraculous play to score the game-winning touchdown.

Not a surprise that Florida kept the game close vs a Florida State that was using its second-string QB, however, Florida showed why they are a bad team since Florida State scored a critical touchdown in the 4th quarter.

The 2023 Apple Cup was an entertaining competitive game that my Huskies won because they made a game-winning field goal. The very gutsy decision for the Huskies to not punt on 4th and 1 was successful because the Huskies succeeded in getting a first down.
A very ridiculous criticism I've seen is the BS roughing the passer call is why the Huskies won this game which is very inane because the Cougars couldn't stop the Huskies on 4th and 1 which was a very critical failure by the Cougars, bad calls happened on both teams, and the Cougars still in a tied game couldn't move the football into field goal range to kick a game-tying field goal.

I'm very happy as a Huskies fan that the Huskies finished the regular season 12-0 which they've never done in all past seasons when they played 12 regular season games.

Stuff like this right there is why I love rivalry week

I was in Atlanta for Georgia/GT, our fans took over the place. And I went to the legendary Varsity

The Ducks have demolished teams after they lost to Washington while the Huskies have been defeating teams in competitive games so I would agree by that advantage Oregon is the better team.

That's why it's unsurprising the Ducks are the favored team.

The Huskies have prospered with adversity since they found ways to win competitive games including vs the Cougars. That's why it's unlikely high adversity will be a flaw for the Huskies to defeat a great Ducks team since adversity is familiar to them.
Play action can be a factor if the Huskies can prosper running the football.
The Huskies getting successful blocking so Penix has time to throw making it more likely he completes passes including critical passes is achievable.
Penix making more great plays than Nix is realistic, and the Huskies executing more great plays on offense and defense is realistic.

Those are the reasons why I'm hopeful the Huskies defeat the Ducks in a thrilling competitive game.

I generally use the eyeball test a great deal when figuring out who I think will win a game. It's pretty much on that basis that I expected Oregon to come out on top, BUT I was shocked that the spread was 9.5?!?!?!? Wow.....didn't see THAT coming.....

I was thinking that it's entirely possible that no SEC team makes the 4 team playoff. Georgia has a very, very good team that seems to be playing better lately, but if Michigan wins, they are in, ditto for FL State, same for the winner of Washington/Oregon......that leaves one team. If Georgia loses to Alabama, what then??? Does Alabama leapfrog a TX team that beats a very good Oklahoma St team AND Ohio St AND, maybe, a Washington team that loses a close game to Oregon???

A lot can happen, but I can see a scenario where the SEC is shut out of the playoffs.

What think???

Oregon is lucky to be only down by 10 at the half. I haven't see WA look this good all year and I've watched a lot of both teams.

Methinks I'm due for a visit to my optometrist. :funny:

I had a feeling that something like this might happen. Georgia looked like a very good team all year, but they trailed a lot teams that a truly dominant team would just blow out. I think Alabama should "maybe" make the playoffs if Michigan or Florida State loses, but, if they both win, Ohio State or Texas deserves to join Michigan, Washington, and Florida State in the playoffs (Frankly, I think it should be Texas). If Michigan OR Florida State loses, I still think there's an argument for Ohio State and Texas. I don't like Texas or Ohio State, but both have a better case than does Alabama.

If they allow Alabama to jump Texas, a team they lost to in Alabama, that would be a blatant farce. Even jumping Ohio State doesn't strike me as quite right. If it were ANY other organization than the NCAA, I wouldn't even be thinking along these lines.

Alabama and everyone of their fans can fornicate themselves with a rusty ax.

IMMA go out on a limb here and say that you aren't a big fan of Alabama and don't think they should be in the playoffs??

My take is this.....MIchigan, Washington, and Florida State absolutely belong. Texas and Ohio State have the next best cases and Alabama is 3rd. If Alabama gets in and Florida State drops to 5 or 6 after beating a very tough Louisville team, that rusty ax needs to be used again. Ditto if the Tide leapfrogs Texas after losing to them.

This morning the CFP Committee has said f**k you to Florida State and awarded Alabama another national championship.
