The Dark Knight Rises Anne Hathaway vs Michelle Pfeiffer

Pfeiffer is the only redeeming aspect of Returns. Terrible origin. Her Catwoman stars in my wet dreams, in all her highly sexualized, glory. But Hathaway's characterization is better. Both are more likable, or interesting than Black Widow. Overall I prefer Hathaway's character. But am in love with Pfeiffer's performance.

I'm no expert on the character,but from what I do know and love,Anne nails it. . For myself,Catwoman is a sexy thief who,deep down has a heart of gold. I think Anne portrayed that wonderfully. It doesn't hurt that I do have a crush on her though. All she was missing is a whip. Michelle's version is ok. She's more like a psychotic mental patient in a cat outfit,I'll be it a good looking mental patient. Of course, in a Tim Burton movie that version of Catwoman is what you'd probably expect.

Michelle Pfeiffer's version was a lot more likeable and charismatic and also a much stronger challenge for Batman. It was for then and timelessly is really impressive that Pfeiffer was able to go so dark and intense and yet also remain so likeable, even with the script I think another actress would have been a lot less of at least one aspect.

Not a fan of Hathaway in general let alone her as Catwoman, her version felt more like we and Batman were supposed to like her and be sympathetic to her just because we were supposed to.

I’d rather see Zoe get the solo series or movie at this point. I prefer Hathaway’s characterization and look for Selina over Pfeiffer’s but I prefer Michelle’s performance and catsuit.

At the very least, I hope Kravitz's Selina is sticking around for the duration of Reeves' series. I would love to see the character evolve beyond one movie.

Well only passed in terms of the hype, but Anne is still young enough to play the part. But it would have to be a prequel of sorts because her story arc ended by the end of TDKR.

Same here. But maybe they could have multiple Catwomen in a film. Crisis on Infinite Cats? Catpoint? Into the Catverse? Selina Kyle in the Multiverse of Catnip?

Now that the multiverse is in play it's more possible. And if there's any character from the Nolan films that could reappear in some form, it would be Hathaway's Selina. Much more likely than Bale's Batman.

Fun fact, in 1992 Pfeiffer played Catwoman and for same year was also Oscar nominated for another role, in 2012 Hathaway played Catwoman and for same year won an Oscar for another role.

I totally understand that Pfeiffer set the bar really high and may never be topped, but man Hathaway is criminally underrated as Selina, even if she didn't have the biggest role. She slid right into Nolan's Gotham effortlessly, added a bit of comic relief, emotional depth, great chemistry with Bale. Felt like a classic Catwoman without being over the top. Such a good performance!

I have no doubt Zoe will be yet another great interpretation of the character.

Agreed. I think no matter what, Catwoman was always going to have a role in the third movie and Hathways knocked it right out of the park.

I still like her as Selina but I don’t like her as Catwoman these days. It just comes off forced. Anne can’t play sexy. She’s pretty but she doesn’t have that natural seductive quality to her. She’s a bit too Broadway for my taste.

My favourite scenes with her are the bar scene, the apartment scenes with Juno and Christian...and she looks great as Selina Kyle with the long dark hair and her Hepburn look at the airport was great. Her Catsuit is illogical for the world Nolan was trying to create if you compare it to Ledger’s Joker design. The only Catwoman scene that I thought she was solid in was the first encounter with Batman (rooftop, Bane staredown, The Bat). She’s not really trying to be sexy there.

At the end of the day I think Bale and Hathaway are so far the best on screen Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. Keaton and Pfeiffer are the best Batman and Catwoman. And I’ll always dig elements all 4 actors brought to the table. But as somebody who believes Pattinson is the next Daniel Day Lewis and as somebody who thinks Zoe Kravitz is the sexiest actress alive (who has a more natural attitude on camera)...I predict all 4 actors will be surpassed in their double roles very soon.

Definitely still my favorite live action portrayal. And closer to what I love about the character than Pfieffers, who was mainly insane. Still really enjoy Pfieffers, but Hathaway is the best for me. and I think Kravitz is gonna be fantastic oto.

One of my favorite moments of Hathaway's Selina is the scene with her and Blake. As he questions her she's putting up this sarcastic, cynical front, then when he mentions Bruce her demeanor immediately changes. The facade dissolves and you briefly see the person she is underneath the "Catwoman" persona. What I love about what she did with the character is that it *is* a performance, this defensive act that you get a glimpse behind only a few times in the movie. It's a mask, and that's why Bruce was able to see right through it.

Different strokes. But it was of a piece with the themes of masks and duel identities that were present throughout the trilogy and particularly in Rises.
