Moving on...

Immersed as in I care about where I'm going and what I'm doing, whereas I didn't before, until it changed the scenary.

I like that it is more linear. I hated the fact that the first was so open. I didn't want to go so far to do almost nothing for so long until I finally found the enemies. Crysis enviroments, to me, needs to be just as big as the second one is.

And now we don't even need that. We don't get to choose what specific capability we want. We simply just use it.

I respect your opinion, but really, I don't agree with it. As far as I'm concerned, it's inferior game. What Fear 2 was to Fear. The problems I and alot of people had with with Crysis, dumb AI and a fairly cold-story, haven't been fixed at all from what I can see. Which I find odd, considering how much the Crytek booky-wooky man was boasting about it. Even Call Of Duty (and I hate Call Of Duty) feels more involving.

Not to suggest that Crysis did not have better textures, but some of these are pretty cherry picked. The shot of Psycho, for example, doesn't show that while the faces are probably the best of any game to date, the nanosuit texture in such cut scenes is quite muddy.

The last example is downright terrible; "Here's a nice, open shot of some vegetation at medium range," as compared to "Here's little bits of grass coming out of the dirt, up close" That's just dishonest; there are plenty of environments that would make for a better comparison, but instead an incredibly unfair one was chosen.

Crysis does have better textures in many cases, but if I were so inclined, I could find a lot of crap textures and do an unfair comparison, like this one, too. All I'd have to do is walk into a KPA shack, and I'd have all the shat textures I'd ever need. But that wouldn't be fair, which is why I chose very general shots for my comparison.

No doubt, they blew it on the story for the third game in a row. As with the original, it seems like there's a ton of exposition that just isn't there, making things feel confusing and irrelevant. Worst, what few details are given to the player, are sometimes stated in communications during intense firefights--ensuring that the dialogue is missed, and the player again has no idea what the hell is afoot.

Theres only one, maybe two "comparisons" up there that look much different. The ground texture and character model. All the others barely look any different.

That's odd. I considered yours cherry picked "hot spots" of Crysis 2 while deliberately using bare area's of Crysis. Which is what motivated me to boot up both Warhead and Crysis 2 up at the same time with the same playtime, in order to be fair for what is obviously (to me anyway) a large difference. Of course I knew it would be futile as people would cry no diffrence. Not to say Crysis: Warhead doesn't have floppy texture work in places, all games do. However, in Crysis 2, this is the case with pretty much every texture, everywere. I actually had a fair bit of difficulty even finding anything remotely comparable to the better textures in Warhead. It's more akin to Crysis: Warhead med/high textures. Of course this is vanilla, when you take into account custom configs/mods which i wasn't running, it really does oblitorate Crysis 2 seven ways from sunday.

Is this the first case in history of a sequel being technically inferior in almost every respect? Can't really think of another game, if anyone does, feel free to name them. I'm sure DX11 will give it abit of visual punch, but I doubt I will be playing it in two-three months time as with most FPS. So it's sort of moot.

For Crysis I just loaded up my last save and ran to a spot with decent lighting and something to look at besides jungle (location was also dictated by the fact that I was being shot at).

I was more thorough about my Crysis 2 shots, as I was also making those shots for use in my review--and I can't just have three shots of the same area and no action, if you know what I mean.

However, in Crysis 2, this is the case with pretty much every texture, everywere.
I think you're exaggerating, but I suppose what constitutes a significant graphical difference is relative. We already know that my opinion is that Crysis 2's superior efficiency makes it the better engine, even if it isn't quite as impressive visually. I understand if this is no comfort to a graphics or hardware enthusiast, but I am neither of those.

Fair enough.
The AI in this game really is awkward sometimes.

I already caught the enemy spinning around himself in a weird way after he felt my presence, also an enemy wasn't alarmed by the sound of the shoots that happened so near him, but others heard when they were so far away.
Some other times it is well done, though. Like when one of the soldiers was walking up the ramp, but looking up over his shoulder and ahead at alternate times.

Crysis 2 was on the PS3 and 360, that alone means it couldn't possibly be as good as the almighty PC exclusive, Crysis.

I found it pretty dissapointing. It's Dx9 only at the moment with half the texture resolution, mostly static environments, cutoff horizon lines, FMV movie sequences rather than running in-engine for alot of the cut-scenes and Inferior AA. I was honestly more impressed with Shogun 2. The scale/detail is shimply dazzling.

DX9 only??? Is that confirmed?

Well yea, it's fairly easy to see that.
It's worth noting though, Team Fortress 2 was on consoles and it's one of my favorite shooters. Bioshock 2 (which I consider to have superior gameplay to Bioshock) was specifically designed with the consoles in mind and it was one of my favorite shooters of last year. As with Call Of Duty: Black Op's i'm fairly disappointed in myself for giving in to the hype like a dummy-wummy and buying it. I should have really just picked it up on a steam bargin bin sale and continued to stick with Shogun 2.

So I installed the new update on my 360 today, start a new campaign on supersoldier, and i get weird diagonal lines ripping in and out of the textures. Quit and resume a few times, same problem.

Then i quit to the 360 dashboard and restard the game... same problem.

Then i turn my console off, turn it back on... and i get the E74 error... WTF?!?!

Up until this new update my console and game were running perfectly. What the **** has happened here?

Haha ouch. 1-800-4-MY-XBOX. Hopefully ur still under warranty.

Bought this yesterday. I LOVE this game. It's honestly one of the best I've ever played. The campaign is exciting and fun and the multiplayer is a hell of a good time as well. Turns out I'm good at it too. Just went 24-8 on a game of TDM (or team insta-action)

I still have yet to play the MP, but i LOVED the campaign. I felt like a human version of the Predator. It was awesome.

Thats exactly how I feel, though I've yet to nail the stealth side of the game. I'm more of a hit em head on kind of player

I loved the campaign, too. Thought it was much more fun than the first game.

I have a feeling they will take the third game to many places around the world, kinda like MW3 is doing, to finish for good the alien attack.

This is a much better texture pack and effect pack.

Crytek working on new game with EA - Crysis 3 inbound?

Crysis developer Crytek is working on a new project with EA, a job ad posted by the publisher has revealed.
The listing in question is advertising for a video director to embed with EA "partner studio" Crytek to capture game footage, among other duties.
German developer Crytek previously told CVG that it fully intended to make Crysis 3, and that it already had a plan for how the series' story will progress.
However, the studio admitted the chances of launching a third game in the FPS series depended on the success of Crysis 2, which hits stores last March.

It's about time they do it.

Crysis 2 back on Steam with a clever new name, extra goodies

Crysis 2 is back on Steam after being yanked in June because "an agreement with another download service" violated Steam's terms of service. The new, improved Crysis 2 is subtitled the "Maximum Edition" and it includes all the content in the limited edition, plus the Retaliation and Decimation DLC packs, all for $40.

Those who snagged Crysis 2 on Steam before it was pulled can get Maximum Edition for half off through June 12 at 10 a.m. PST. EA's other pulled or unreleased titles on Steam – namely Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 – are still absent.

The new version, by including all the DLC, sidesteps the restrictions that kept the game off in the first place.

Just got it for super cheap on the 360. Man, I love it...single player is a blast and I am seriously loving the MP. I havn't been into FPS MP in a long time...this totally got me back into it.
