Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator film ‘Prey’

I kind of want to see Predator during World War II, just to see how both sides react.
Predator needs to show up and kill all humans, Allies and Axis alike and they have to figure out how to deal with it, even if it means both sides have a truce.

Here’s an idea.

Prey: No Man’s Land. Both sides trying to mow each other down, then a Predator/Predators shows up and kills off a bunch on either side. Both sides have to call a truce to figure out a way to kill it. Tons of sneaking around/stealth, going through tunnels and trench warfare. Writes itself.

I love the idea of injecting an new, uncontrolled variable like the Predator into real world historical scenarios that we’re familiar with and see how they play out. So many different, interesting and entertaining outcomes. It’s so much fun to watch and experience.

My second idea for Predator also takes place in Europe, but during the Napoleonic Wars.

I think if you want to do "Predator shows up during war", it'd be better to set it during World War 1. Partly because ultimately "The two sides team up" is an easier sell when one of the sides isn't the Nazis. *ahem* But also partly because you can work it thematically with the almost alien, inhuman nature of warfare during WWI. Play up the idea that, against the backdrop of trenches and artillery and poison gas and an endless dead landscape of ruin and corpses, an alien hunter that kills for sport? *Isn't* actually shocking, its just one more indicator that everyone has descended into the depths of Hell. When the two opposing groups of soldiers cooperate, its not just for strength in numbers, its a marker of them finding the ability to hope again, to believe that they aren't damned and suffering a hell that they deserve.

( I would also probably suggest that the Predator in question is. . . not normal. Because the usual "hunting for honor or sport" makes no sense in light of landing in the middle of WWI. Either this particular Predator is a psychopath even by his species' standards, and is there to revel in the mass death; or else he's basically looking for a place to die. )
