Tim Burton doing JL would be something hard to chew on LOL. Just let him loose!
Oh, imagine him going all wild on Atlantis. He wouldn't be held back by real buildings but could design the sunken kingdom EXACTLY like he wanted, with special effects/bluescreen.
Do you think it would be a gothic nightmare, Frodo?
The Flash suit you posted could be an example of Burton's crazy mind. The hero looks like a villain/demon.

Good cast! I really like how Chris Lee got a comeback during the later part of his career.
If he had been 20 years younger, I think Burton could have used him for an aging Batman.
Here's a pic from 1979

I could totally see Burton's Atlantis being as you described it . I think he would go to town , and I also think he would dig the creatures of the trench.

As far as the cast goes, I tried to guess who Burton would pick for each role and who WB would probably insist on being cast to fill out the team. So , I figured Burton would cast mostly actors he's worked with , in addition to studio picks of popular actors of the mid to late 90s like L.L.Cool J as Cyborg.

I could also totally see Lee as an aging Batman in the 70s. Lee was one of those actors who could do just as good a job at playing a hero or a villain.

He could have also made an awesome , retired SAS , Military Alfred Pennyworth. Lee could do no wrong, which is one of the reasons he turns up so much in my "What If "castings:D.

Not always good that studios should have a say in the casting. The director always have a better feeling about who's the right actor.

I've digged Lee ever since he was Saruman. He had such charisma :)
My personal opinion is he's more villain material.

When looking at how Burton treated Penguin, he probably would have had Aquaman as an actual fish dude, LOL

Here's some pics I found when searching for "gothic Atlantis". Only two have something to do with the sea

Oh yeah, I agree that the studio isn't always the best judge of who is cast.

I'd say the majority of times , the director and the Producers have a better handle on what they want from the an actor to play the role, while a studio like WB, may tend to look at who's the biggest name or box office at the moment.

So, it's better to air on the side of the director and producers more than the studio execs .

In this what if scenario ,Cage and Keaton as his Superman and Batman would have been a given since Cage was already a hit as Superman in SL while Keaton would have returned as Batman.

I went with Davis as WW, since she like Cage and Keaton, might seem to fit the mold of an "outside the box" casting choice , but at the same time , I actually think at that time, i.e. the Thelma and Louise, Long Kiss Goodnight, and League of their Own era, could have pulled off a convincing Warrior with gravitas, warmth, and experience.

It also doesn't hurt that at 5'11, she could convincingly be believed as an Amazon.

Like when Nolan cast Harry Styles in Dunkirk. I still don't understand it. It makes no sense at all for Nolan to pick that guy.

Valid point about Cage there.

Geena Davis, I'm completely with you in your reasoning. She would be the obvious Wonder Woman, at the same time she wouldn't be. Obvious and out of the box casting at the same time.
That's why Burton would have gone with her :)
I only hope he didn't write the character in a sexist way because of the actress being hot and having big lips.

Depp for Aquaman would have been so weird. Too weird even for Burton?

Haven't got a personal opinion about Van Dien. I trust your judgement, Frodo! :)

I think his Atlantis would be similar to that, yes. Burton wouldn't have cared that the place is originally meant to remind of ancient Greece, but totally created something completely different.

Story: Taking place a month after the events of Batman Begins ,Mr Earle ,the recently dismissed Wayne Enterprises C.E.O, is found slain in his penthouse apartment. All physical evidence ,including surveillance footage, and alleged eye witnesses, point to Billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne as the culprit. Unfortunately, Bruce doesn't have a viable alibi, since he was chasing down the remaining escaped inmates at Arkham Asylum as Batman, when the crime could have taken place.

As the case draws more an more scrutiny to Bruce's lifestyle, and begins to hamper his efforts as Batman, Bruce calls upon defense council Matt Murdock to take the case. Soon ,Murdock realizes the hallmarks of the murder seem all too familiar, and he believes Wayne is being set up by someone with deep pockets . At the same time, he feels knows the irresponsible playboy isn't on the level. All the while, Wayne also begins to suspect his new attorney is more than meets the eye. Before long, Bruce and Matt's alter ego's will meet as the discover themselves on the same trail of the true mastermind pulling all the strings.

The question is how benefits from setting Wayne up and why do they want him out of the way? The answers will take the Dark Knight and The Daredevil through a labyrinth of underworld figures, corrupt Politicians, ruthless assassins , and The Scarecrow, who will make The Man Without Fear faces his own inner demons. All of this , on the eve of one of the most important elections for District Attorney in Gotham City's history, which the puppet master intends on controlling the outcome.

So nice with a "mid-80s" Stargirl made by Donner/Spielberg/Williams. Typical for its time.
Even from Amblin, that says a lot

Nice young cast, and Chevy Chase as Pat Dugan is cool.

Starman at the end, that's Sylvester Pemberton, right?
I wonder if there's a flashback from his younger days, when he fought crime together with Dugan.
He was the Star-Spangled Kid

Yeah, that's how I see it. I see the film as being similar to the current tv series pilot with flashbacks to the original JSA team and how they disbanded , including Starman's fate.

I could see the film being a combination of the youth oriented films like Goonies ,and the lighter aspects of Hughes's films, with the the adventure and wonder of films Superman 78, Indiana Jones, and E.T.

The film has The 80s written all over it with .:D.

Bold text = so true.
It's something special about that time. Not only the adventure blockbusters but the comedies too.
The greatness in what Hollywood did back then, can't just be because of nostalgia. The films really were great.

I haven't seen the Stargirl series yet. Is it good?
Is it Sylvester's Starman on the show or another of the characters that use the name? Ted Knight is one of them.

I enjoy Stargirl alot . I think it's pretty good.

It's worth checking out.

Sylvester's Starman is the one that's used in the series .

Frank Capra's Wonder Woman... you have me already there. :)

Then add a ww2 setting, Lauren Bacall, Clark Cable and .... OOOOOHHHHH

I got an idea right now, not involving superheroes but old directors lika Capra. The ones from 30s/40s/50s.
Actors of those years are a part of this too.
It's about remaking sci fi films and fantasy films from 1970 and onwards, up to present day.
Horror classics would be fun too.

Let yourself loose if this sounds interesting, Frodo. Start a thread in the film forum :)

Bogart circa 1953 ,would be pretty old as a potential suitor to Reynold's Leia, though May December on screen romances were alot more common on screen from the 1930s well into the 60s, so there's that precedent :funny:.

Also, I think Bogart is the actor closet to ANH Han Solo with the cynicism, swagger, and coolness factor:yay:.

Thanks.:yay:. It actually came to mind suddenly after I read your post though, I originally wanted it to be a 40s serial as Lucas was inspired by , but finding the right young actor as Luke was a bit tougher in the 40s so I moved it to the early 50s with the sci fi technicolor boom.

Here's one more, before getting back to DC heroes:cwink:
The Bladerunner (1939)
Director : Fritz Lang

Late 40s could have been Roddy McDowell as Luke.
Here's two pics from 1948

Fritz Lang doing Blade Runner makes sense. He's the one that shaped all later dystopian sci fi.
Bogart is the go-to actor for all Ford characters, isn't he?

Yeah, pretty much.:funny:

Especially with Bladerunner which really was trying to go with a Noir- Like, Sam Spade like feel to it.

Bogart is the actor who comes closet in my mind to the type of actor Harrison Ford was in Bladerunner and The SW films.

I could see Bogart being the sharp tongued ,roguish, Han, as he did in Casablanca , while I could also see him being the reserved, world weary, yet haunted ,Deckard, as he was in Key Largo .

I agree that McDowell would also have made a good Luke as well.

I actually have McDowell down as Frodo Baggins in a 1940s version of The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy :D:cwink:.

You have a deep knowledge about both Ford and Bogart, it's evident :)
How many of their films have you seen?

Your 40s LOTR must be the first post if we ever create that other thread!! :)
