For a 90s Knightfall adaptation, I’d go with him or D’Onofrio. Or Schwarzenegger, if we’re going stunt casting.

True enough; I agree that I think it was Burton’s involvement that derailed the project.

Kevin Smith delivered a solid script that could have launched a franchise. And Nicolas Cage may have actually been inspired casting, the likes we hadn’t seen since Michael Keaton in 89’s Batman. But Burton didn’t really seem interested in Superman. He wanted to tell the story of an alien outsider dressed up as a Superman flick. And it could have worked still, but it morphed into something a bit too removed from Smith’s original script for my liking.

With the original treatment, I think Michael Bay could bring his Armageddon energy into revitalizing Superman. Make the Man of Steel cool— something WB still can’t figure out. Spectacular action. Charming movie stars and beautiful female leads. And comedic supporting characters. Smith’s script had all the trappings of a classic Michael Bay picture from the 90s.

I think Clarke would have been great.

Beyond his Physical Presence, he had that great voice and was a great actor.
He could have been a truly formidable, and imposing, adversary to Keaton's Batman.

D'Onofrio also would have been amazing as well.

The idea of him being a mentor/ teacher to Keaton's Bruce Wayne would have been awesome.
