So, according to Universal's Director, Jurassic World was just the first in a new trilogy. Be careful with spoilers in here.

Any guess at what the next film will center around? Owen and Claire will most likely return, but what will their purpose on the plot be? From World, it seems like the next one will deal with Dinos being used in military warfare.

While among all this plot, there's not much time to go through many other plot threads, it would be cool to see Alan or Ian Malcolm returning

I'm quite sure Ian must have been against the creation of Jurassic World, and they're still specialists in their respective areas.

If i had to guess, the next film might end up with some kind of "Jurassic Apocalypse", which is most likely gonna get resolved in the 3rd one. Unless they're aiming to have some central human villain behind all the events.

I just wrote this in the JW thread. :woot:

Given that Trevorrow isn't coming back, they should get Gareth Edwards if they ever do a sequel.

Now, you may have liked Godzilla (2014), you may have not, but the guy's a colossal Jurassic park fan and his debut, Monsters, could pass for a more than solid Jurassic Park film in terms of tone, atmosphere and wonder (just imagine that instead of aliens, those are dinosaurs that escaped to the South American jungle, which was even a plot point in the books).

I'll guess 2018 and oh I want different titles for the sequels.

How about Jurassic Kingdom?

Edwards is gonna be busy though, he has Rogue One for 2016 and Godzilla 2 for 2018. As for the title, my guess is that they will go with Jurassic World and some subtitle.

I don't really know where they can go with this now. I guess they could follow through with the Ingen plot introduced in this movie, but they would have to be careful because the idea of using dinosaurs in the military and fighting wars can come off as stupid.

-The "island" premise is kind of played out by this point. So maybe the Dino's escape to the Central/South American jungle. And the authorities, with Owen, Claire, and maybe Alan/Ian/Malcolm as well (if the film can find a way to organically fit them in) consulting, need to try and contain them.

Wait...

Jurassic Park...

...The Lost World...

...Jurassic World...

I agree, no one wants to see this in any shape or form.

Man, I so want an actual Dino Riders movie...

I feel the 80's are done and any 80's reboot is just going to suck anyway(see Jem). The 90's has a much better hope for kids property turned blockbuster.

I can see that. Think Isla Sorna can come back into play? As for sequel ideas, how about the idea of using Dinos as pets? Also I suggested branching with other extinct animals like Woolly Mammoths and Saber-Tooth's? Think that'll happen?

Cast Joseph Mazzello as a tie to the old trilogy.
He's 32 now, and could be as bad ass as needed for a Jurassic plot.
What character should he play? A soldier or a scientist?

To Amblin/Universal/Whoever Made The Decision's credit, they could have gone the considerably campier route in the past and decided to waited until they found a better concept.

I'd say we dodged a bullet with that one.

Wait...

Jurassic Park...

The name of the next installment is obvious then - The Lost Park. :oldrazz:

Jurassic Universe: Dinosaurs in Space

Jurassic Park: In The Hood. Because leprechaun did it so well :o

I guess [BLACKOUT]Dr. Wu[/BLACKOUT] is the only character guaranteed to be back for the sequel. The only other actors who I'd want to see back from Jurassic World are Chris Pratt and Omar Sy.

I doubt they would pursue without Pratt

Pratt's a humble dude, so I don't think he'll be playing hardball with them, but even he isn't bigger than the franchise. If he ever did say no, they would just move on without him. After all, the real stars of these movies are the dinosaurs.

Did you not see Mad Max?

80's are far from done especially with kids properties, and with so many franchises that were released during that time that impacted 80s, 90s and 00 kids they will just keep being rebooted. We have Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Masters Of The Universe, Transformers, Terminator, My Little Pony, Big Trouble In Little China, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles etc all having more films. And it's only a matter of time before Goonies, Monster Squad, BTTF, Indiana Jones and Neverending Story get hit.

I think it is time to get off the island. Honestly, the whole reason so many people I feel like over 20 rolled their eyes at the Jurassic World trailers was that it essentially is repeating the premise of the first movie "We're back on the island with a park and things go wrong."

It really is a testament to Trevorrow and company that the movie is playing great for all audiences. It may not be a masterpiece like the '93 film, but it is wildly fun.

But I do not think they can return to that well again. My only fear is that the dangling thread of the embryos and Henry Wu seems to suggest that the next Jurassic Park film will be about militarized dinosaurs or even (Lord forbid) human-dinosaur hybrids, just like what William Monahan and Spielberg weirdly chased in script treatments about 5-10 years ago.

To paraphrase Ian Malcolm that is a very bad idea in a history of bad ideas.

I think returning to Crichton would be smarter. Crichton seems to suggest that co-existence (or extinction) will come into play because the dinosaurs will inevitably make it to the mainland and breed. I am not sure I want an apocalyptic film about dinosaurs taking over the planet, but a film dealing with that possibility and how the humans react to dinosaurs disrupting or dominating our modern ecosystems could open up some really interesting possibilities.
