My favorite Bond villain/henchman duo. Oddjob set the standard for the menacingly imposing henchmen that followed, but I don't think any of them have matched him yet, not even Jaws. Oddjob's fanatical loyalty to Goldfinger was awesome. Even willing to die for him in the vaults of Fort Knox just so Goldfinger's plan will succeed.

I like me some Oddjob.

But as far as henchmen go...Red Grant is tops.

No, I changed my mind. He's better making his films with the Bond influence like Inception and his Batman films. Not a Bond film directly. Sometimes it's better like that. Until i see him portray Selina and Catwoman then I may change my mind. Because he has yet to use fun and sexy elements that would make me have faith in him to pull it off.

1. You can't knock it unless you try. Nolan has yet to it. And who knows, maybe he'd make the best Bond movie in years.

2. Just because he hasn't done something before (the sexy), doesn't mean he wouldn't be good at it.

3. A Nolan Bond movie would own, and you know it. Nolan directing Craig would be a match made in celluloid heaven.

Grant is my second favorite. One of Robert Shaw's best roles. "You're going to crawl over here and kiss my foot".

I also have to give a shout out to Rosa Klebb. Only a handful of scenes but a very memorable villainess. Remember when she put on the knuckle duster and slugged Grant in the chest with it just to test his strength? Brilliant.

Even if he said " I could slap you" he would still come out cool.

You know who would make an amazing Bond villain? Hell, the perfect Bond villain? Vincent Cassel.

That had never occurred to me, but that just screams to happen. He would be brilliant as a Bond villain.

Chris Nolan would make an awesome Bond movie and so would Mathew Vaughn, i want these two to make Bond 24 and 25 (both with Craig). But im really looking forward to what Sam Mendes is going to bring to the table...

Brilliant choice would be awesome if he ever showed up in a Bond film.

Yes yes double yes, Grant is my favorite aswell, just all kinds of awesome. Watching him be Bond's shadow for half the movie never gets old. Oddjob of course follows second.

Grant is my favorite Bond villain period. He's ****ing Robert Shaw. What more explanation do you need? That and it took me a long time to realize the guy who played Quint also plays this Grant. It was like finding out Keaton playing Batman and Beetlejuice.

It's possible. He's a great filmmaker. But it would come down to his feelings on it and whether or not he feels he can make a great Bond film.

And we'll have to play the wait and see game to decide if he can pull off the more fun and sexy aspects. I'm not dismissing it, I'll just wait for Catwoman.

Oddjob was a great Henchman. In the book we really got to see how racist (ok, maybe not the right word, but he didn't like Koreans) Fleming/Bond were when it comes to what he thinks of Koreans. But then Bond is meant to be sexist, chauvinistic and a bit of a dinosaur. Now Horror could have been a cool Henchman too, but they turned him into a comedy bit named Jaws.

My favourite villain was Alec Trevelyan because he was another Bond.
He was charming, sophisticated, precise and he had an interesting relationship with Bond. The fist fight between Bond and Trevelyan is one of the best I have seen in the series.

Most probably true, that tends to happen when a director is breaking in something new. I find it interesting that no one has topped it since then, or really even tried.

Hell, the sequence even became a board game. :D

Nice. Well Thunderball was the biggest grossing Bond film ever when adjusted for inflation so I'm not surprised of it's crazy popularity that extended to board games.

Like I said, I won't fault them too much for it but it does get dull.

Those are great pictures

:awesome:

HE WOULD!!!

I agree to a point, though I have my doubts about Nolan directing fun and sexy too.

But I say EON must take advantage of Nolan wanting to direct a movie. I don't think Mendes would want to come back and it's one of Nolan's dreams to direct a Bond movie.

Both of them were great villains. Grant is probably still one of the most badass Bond henchmen.

That's what they need to do with Bond henchmen. What sets the best (Jaws, Oddjob, Grant) is that they were men of few words (most of the time in Grant's case). Make them silent, show them as strong, and have them get the job done.

I never classed Grant as a henchman, i always saw him as the main villain of FRWL...

Is it still the biggest grossing Bond film when adjusted? I wasn't sure if Casino Royale has passed it. I'd love to see one of the new Bond movies attempt to top the underwater sequences.

My Dad feels the same way about it.

Agreed, I saw him closer to Trevelyan and Scaramanga, than the Oddjob, Jaws, Teehee type.

Nah, Klebb was the main villain as it was all her and Kronsteen's plan. Grant was the guy doing the job.

When adjusted for 2011 dollars Thunderball made $587 million and nearly a billion worldwide. still holds the record.

I don't know how I feel about underwater sequences. I'm really as big on those as the snow or the car chase sequences.

LOL likewise with my dad. He's the one that got me into Bond at a young age. I remember sitting down together and he told me how much he loved the books as well as the movies. We watched all of Connery's movies that day. In fact Thunderball is his favorite, particularly for the underwater scenes. :hehe:

I do think that the scene where Largo recovers the nukes goes too long, but I have no problem with the rest of the underwater scenes, especially the underwater battle at the end. Thunderball might have the most exciting climax in the entire series.

That is true. My other favorite endings are The Spy Who Loved Me, Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only and Casino Royale.

My most favorite ending is On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

"We have all the time in the world."

Goldeneye is up there too. Bond/Trevelyan on the satellite dish is my second favourite fight in the series, behind only Bond/Grant on the Orient Express.

Love the Bond/Trevelyan fight in Goldeneye, the theme Run, Shoot, Jump playing as the scene goes on only adds to the epicness.
