GAMEMASTERS

RULES
  • You can choose to be any superhero or supervillain in the DC Universe, as long as they:
Are to be established on Earth, as in, if Lobo is to be involved, he has to reside in a DCU Earth city...

Are NOT deities, gods, or people such as Shazam the Wizard. People like Superman are okay, but keep in mind that they..

Are true to the personality and abilities of the character, such as NO Pre-Crisis Superman, no moving planets, sneezing away the Milky Way, no amnesia kiss... EVERYTHING is set POST-Flashpoint, in the current continuity of the character you are/wish to play/playing.
  • Don't do anything RANDOM like chopping off board user's heads or what not, unless your a villain chopping off inanimate victims heads, then whatever, go with it, as long as it's not technically RANDOM.
    Don't kill people without reason.
    Don't randomly kill NPC's.

  • You know your weaknesses and strengths, what you can do or can't. Black Canary will lose against Superman one on one, but may be able to use her allies to help her out or she can run away.

  • Don’t kill a PC unless you have a plan to bring them back.
Don’t kill your character when you quit the RPG, this robs a person from playing that character.

  • If there is a problem between you and another player,
or if you have question's please talk to one of the Gamemasters The list of Game masters is at the top of this post.

  • There should be MINIMAL cussing and swearing in posts.
There will be NO By-passing the censors. This is a Hype rule, and NO exceptions will be made for the RPG.

  • No obscene topics!

What to do in the RPG-
  • Act like your character; ASSUME their traits and personality...

  • You can form super villain gang’s superhero teams, alliances, the works.

  • There can be a number of stories (or arcs) going on at once, using different people.

  • There are endless places to go and endless things to do: ENDLESS possibilities so get creative...
People who disobey these rules, some more major than the others, will get BOOTED by the GM. If need be a Moderator will be called in.

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): Clark Kent/Superman

Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences) If you copy/paste this information from another website, link back to it, or it is considered plagiarism, it will not be allowed.:

Born on the dying planet Krypton, the infant Kal-El was placed in a rocket by his scientist father Jor-El. Jor-El desperately launched the rocket into the unknown reaches of space as Krypton began to collapse. Unsure of where his son would go, Jor-El knew that anywhere would be better than Krypton. The rocket was barely out of the planet's orbit when Krypton exploded. The rocket escaped the explosive wake of the planet and drifted through the stars for years while the baby Kal-El slept in hibernating stasis. The space ship's AI finally found a suitable planet for the baby in the third planet from the star Sol.

Earth.

The rocket crash landed on the outskirts of Smallville, Kansas where elderly couple Jonathan and Martha Kent found the baby and took him in as their own. Naming him Clark Kent, the boy grew up on their farm. The solar radiation his body absorbed over time began to manifest themselves in the form of fantastic strength. Knowing something was amiss, the Kents told him the truth about his origins and where he was from when he was in college. Stunned by the news and unsure of what to do with it and himself, Clark was dealt a heavy blow six months later when both Jonathan and Martha both died within a month of each other.

Late one night, he was inspecting the rocket when he found a red blanket that was as indestructible as he was along with a Kryptonian symbol. With a crazy idea in his head, Clark sold the farm and moved to Metropolis after graduating college and took a job at the Daily Star and worked as a reporter by day, while at night he became something else. Faster than a speeding bullet, able to leap over tall buildings in a single bound, more powerful than a locomotive, he was the champion for the poor, downtrodden, and oppressed. He was their Superman.

Fast forward five years later, Superman has become Metropolis' protector and one of the few superhumans who are generally liked by the populace. A founding member of the Justice League, he works side by side with the greatest heroes the Earth as ever known.

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable):
Justice League (Founding member)

Explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen and why you've chosen this character.

I've got a lot of ideas with Superman, and I'm enjoying both Superman and Action comics. I have a few short-term and one overarching arc with the character, as well as one "backup" story with Jimmy Olsen I want to tell.

As to why I chose him, it's Superman. I haven't played him in a good while, and I think this time i have the ideas and the tools to make a decent run with him.

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?: [email protected]

"Excuse me, Councilman," I call out to Councilman Walker as he's walking out of City Hall.

"Oh, God," he says with the roll of his eyes. "Not you again!"

"Yes, me again." I pull out my notepad and pen, clicking the end of the pen. "I told you last week, and the week before, that 'no comment' is not going to work. I want to know why you're sponsoring a bill to shut down half of Metropolis' homeless shelters I'll be out here everyday after you're done in your office, and I'll keep calling. You'll find that I'm a very patient man."

"What about your boss?"

"Mr. White is also patient and we want-"

"Sorry, I mean your boss's boss. Mr. Edge. I wonder what he'll say?"

I crinkle my nose. It's not that I don't trust Morgan Edge...okay, it is that I don't trust Morgan Edge. Lois and I investigated him more than a few times for links to organized crime. There was some flimsy stuff between him and a few companies we thought were fronts, but nothing concrete. Then he buys out the Daily Planet and all that gets thrown out the window. He went from "shady businessman" to "the spiritual architect of the New Daily Planet" so fast it would make Flash's head spin.

"So, I take it that you have no comment on the homeless shelter initiative?"

"What do you think," Walker hisses. "Believe me, Mr. Edge will hear about this."

Walker storms off and I shake my head, placing my notebook and pen back into my back pocket. The phone in my front pocket vibrates and I pull it out.

"Clark!"

"Jim, what is it?"

"How soon can you get to the Planet's offices? Something big is going down."

"What?"

"The skull guy is back. What's his name...Atomic Skull! He's down in Fleischer Square. We've got a front row seat!"

"Get off the phone, Jimmy, we need footage of this now!"

"Gotta go, now get down here now!"

The line cuts off and I stuff my phone back into my pocket and jog down the sidewalk for half a block before ducking into a side alley. I reach down and pull up my baggy t-shirt, revealing the blue armor underneath.

Character you would like to play: It’s a dual role, namely Chief Man-of-the-Bats aka Dr. William Eagle or Chief Great Eagle, and his son/sidekick Red Raven, Charlie Little Raven, both of the Sioux tribe. I’d like to apply for the two-in-one, as I’d want to switch up perspectives every once in a while.
Powers and brief origin: Chief Man-of-the-Bats has no particular powers, but he’s got a medical degree and is physically on par with Batman himself (probably a little stronger but also a little slower). He taught his son how to fight, so Red Raven’s got the same skills, but he doesn’t really correlate well with somebody like (Red) Robin or Nightwing in this physical sense. He’s good with a bow and on horseback like nobody else though.

As for their origins, well… really it comes down to William Eagle being inspired by the Batman to take up his costumed identity. He fights crime on his Indian reservation, many sizes bigger than Gotham and with problems that fit that scale. He is a community leader and he doesn’t exactly have a secret identity. He works days in the hospital and nights as the Chief. He fought in Iraq (the first time). His son is just a little too old for the Teen Titans.

Their relationship is fraught with the kind of tension you’d expect a hero and a sidekick to have and of a single father and son.

Group your character is aligned with: Batman Incorporated, The Club of Heroes

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar. One to explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen. The other to explain why you've chosen this character: I won’t deny being inspired by Jason Aaron’s Scalped when I thought of applying for this character: I’d like to mix the vibe he created with superheroics. So, basically, to pick up where Batman Inc. #7 left of, an issue I particularly enjoyed. Superheroics on the C-list level, with the human touch.

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?: I do, MSN. PM me if you want it.

This was six days ago.

It was night and the construction site was deserted, except for the six men standing in the centre of the future casino. Right now, ‘The Iceberg’ was nothing more than steel girder and beams. Right now, Chief Man-of-the-Bats was facing five heavies. They were wearing hard hats, but were not construction workers. The tattoo’s on their exposed arms identified them as a collection of Eastern European gangsters.

“You boys are a long way from home,” the Chief said, looking to the men who were now surrounding him. The hero had already assumed a warrior’s stance and was beckoning the others to come forward and step into his ring. He looked up to the night sky, with a moon about to set. The men were edging closer.
“I’ll have you all in casts before the sun’s here, I promise you that.”

The men smiled, so did Chief Man-of-the-Bats.

He kept his promise.

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): Buddy Baker/Animal Man

Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences): Buddy can tap into "The Red", which is a morphogenetic field that connects all animals on the planet earth. Using this ability, Buddy can take on the traits and abilities of any animal on earth as long as he concentrates on them.

The following is Buddy's history as I see it from the New DC:

Buddy's powers manifested when he encountered a derelict alien spacecraft while hunting four years ago. His connection to "The Red" grew in power over a span of a few short months, and spurred in by the newly formed Justice League, tries his hand at becoming a super hero.

Baker is a success at the hero work, but soon longs for something more in his life, especially considering he cannot support his family on nonexistent superhero wages.

Buddy now works as a Hollywood stuntman who has recently received his first starring role, though he still patrols as Animal Man from time to time. He lives in California with his wife Ellen, son Cliff, and daughter Maxine. Recently, Maxine has shown powers of her own, and has even shown the ability to bring deceased creatures back from the grave. This, along with startling changes to his powers and dreams of creatures called "The Hunters Three", have driven Baker to take his daughter on a journey into The Red to find out what is in store for all life in the Universe.

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable): None

Explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen and why you've chosen this character: Buddy is unlike any character I've played before, and he's one I've become fairly interested in since the new 52. I like that he's basically a hippy Hollywood-type that fights crime on the side. And now, with the Hunters apparently after him, he faces his biggest threat yet. I plan on exploring The Red as an entity, and the Hunters and The Other as a big threat to life on Earth.

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?: MSN. Can be found right in the normal spot.

If you know how to post pictures, please provide a picture of your character you wish to be used for the Character Roster (if you do not know how, or do not have a preference, please say so and a default picture shall be picked for you):

The ugly, horrifying, yet almost melodious voices replay in my mind time after time as Maxine and I have made this journey. The grotesque images of the voices' owners are burned into my eyes as if I had stared into the sun for too long. Their constantly shifting, puss like visages almost make me sick when I think about it.

But what scares me even more is they claim to be the true father of my child, and Maxine's powers seem to be outclassing my own. How or why is anyone's guess.

"Daddy...I think we should go this way," Maxine points over the amazingly surreal landscape we currently inhabit. It's The Red. The place where I draw my power from. The place that made me its avatar.

"After you, sweetie," I smile reassuringly at my daughter, though inside, I'm a worried mess.

Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences)If you copy/paste this information from another website, link back to it, or it is considered plagiarism, it will not be allowed:
When his parents were murdered before his eyes as a child, Bruce Wayne vowed to devote his life to fighting crime. Spending years travelling the world and honing his mind and body, Bruce Wayne eventually returned to Gotham City, ready to wage his war on crime. He developed a disguise that would strike fear into the hearts of the corrupt, and the dark knight of Gotham was born... BATMAN!

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable):
Justice League

Explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen and why you've chosen this character:
Batman is the greatest character in comics. Just look at the sheer volume of classic graphic novels with his name on them: it's higher than anybody else. He's an enduring icon - popular not just in comics, but film, TV, animation, now video games - for a reason. It's a genuinely great mythology, one I've adored and immersed myself in since I was 4 years old. For years, I played The Joker in the last incarnation of the DC RPG. I think it's about time I try the other side of the coin, and see how I fare. I plan on interacting lots with other players, while also developing my own solo storylines on the side.

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?:

Crime Alley is where it happens. Here, this is the place. Now is the time.

Chill watches silently, not even letting out a breath. The heartbeat battering against his chest sounds deafening to him, a telltale traitor ready to give him away. He’d forgotten it, the thrill of it. He sees them walking together, fresh out of the theatre. A father, a mother and a child. Happy family. They’re laughing about something, none aware that destiny is waiting just down the street to meet them with a gun in his hand.

He stares intently at the father. They make fleeting eye contact, and daddy tenses slightly. Chill’s walking towards them now, eyes focused. The mother’s noticed now too. They’re trying to keep on walking ahead, not acknowledging him. It’s just a nice night out in Park Row, nothing to fear. But this isn’t Park Row, not really. It’s Crime Alley. And something momentous happens here.

He stands in front of them now, raises his gun. Two terrified parents, and their innocent child. Innocent for three more seconds. Chill looks down at the boy, sees in his mind’s eye the life that would have unfolded for him if their paths had never crossed. Now, now is the time. He pulls the trigger. A thunderclap breaks through the murk of the Gotham night, and the man falls to the ground. Another gunshot and the woman follows. Both dead. That’s what had to happen. There’s no pearl necklace. Is the pearl necklace important?

All that remains is the empty void where a child used to be. Chill points the gun at him, speaking gently.

“What’s your name, little boy?”

Now. It is happening now. This is where it begins.

“Michael,” the boy whispers, as if in a trance, “My name is Michael.”

...

Tonight, like every other night, I have failed.

In the three hours since I began my patrol tonight, I’ve busted up a drug deal in the city’s south-side, I stopped Scarecrow from gassing the crowd at a college basketball match, I interrupted two muggings, and I rescued two families from a burning tenement block: it was arson, the individuals responsible are already in GCPD custody. I’m trying. I do what little good I can, picking away at the massive blackness eating away at this city. But when the sun rises over Gotham City the next morning, the rot’s still there. When night falls once more, there is a whole new wave of crime and corruption waiting to be fought. And try as I might, I’m only human. I can’t be everywhere at once. And every night, there are people who needed Batman that I couldn’t help.

Crime Alley. Where it all began. On this very street all those years ago, Joe Chill killed my parents right in front of me. On that night, Batman was born. As a boy, frightened, bereaved and clutching at something to live for, I vowed that no other child would be made to suffer like I did. As the years went by, I got older, and my goals got more sophisticated. But at the core of it all was that primal desire, that no more Joe Chills would create any more broken little Bruce Waynes.

But here I am, standing silently in the shadows, looking at a young boy sat on the ground, his mother and father lying on either side of him, dead. He looks about the same age I was, maybe a little younger. He isn’t crying. I didn’t cry either, that came later, once my shellshocked mind could fully comprehend what had happened. Looking at the boy’s eyes, I remember as my own the thoughts that must be going through his head: the crushing enormity of realising Everything Is Different Now, that feeling of being utterly lost. I remember how alone I felt...

I step out of the shadows, approaching the boy. When he sees me, his eyes widen in horror. Even now, he instinctively huddles closer to his father, as if expecting him to protect him. But when the visceral reaction of fear passes, the boy’s eyes glimmer with recognition. It’s Batman, he thinks, he’s the one who makes things right. How can I make this right? Some things can’t be fixed by punching people in the face.

“My mom, my dad...”

Saying it makes it real. The tears start brimming in the boy’s eyes, and he looks up at me, silently, pleadingly. I crouch down next to him, and take him in my arms. He breaks down, sobbing into my shoulder.

“It’s okay,” I tell him, “I’ve got you. No one is going to hurt you.”

I’ve dedicated my whole life to a never-ending war against crime. I’ve spent years prowling through Gotham’s underworld as Batman. Countless mobsters and psychopaths have been taken off the streets thanks to me. I’ve devoted my life to Gotham City.

But it’s not enough. It’s never enough. It never will be enough.

I think this was addressed previously, but can't find it in the previous OOC thread.

How are we handling characters that haven't yet appeared or otherwise been accounted for in the New 52? Say, for arguments sake, Raven?

If the character hasn't appeared in the New 52 are they off the table? Or do we just "fake it" and try to reconcile any inconsistencies later if they show up in the New 52?

I'd say go for the latter. To use the old analogy, when we started the original World of Heroes, game founder batnkevlar played as Hal Jordan in the middle of Rebirth, and just guessed how he'd end up after it was over.

Pretty much what Soze said, but if the character actually has shown up but maybe you didn't know because of what title they appeared in is another thing.

What character did you have in mind Bounce?

I'm debating between Raven, Klarion (he died in Flashpoint, does that mean he's dead in the New 52?), or Gar Logan.

I don't believe there's been any mention of Raven or Gar in the new 52 yet.

If a character died in Flashpoint it doesn't mean they are dead now. Flashpoint always was an alternate timeline.

Raven hasn't been mentioned in anything, neither has Klarion. The most Beast Boy has been shown was in a random background shot in TT #1 while Tim was looking at a huge super computer capturing footage of the teen metas.

So I'd say those 3 characters are unchanged.

So I'd say those 3 characters are unchanged.

In what way? Do you mean simply origin, because I think clearly the New Teen Titans history is out. I'm somewhat confused with the reboot as we have a blank slate in some cases (Supergirl) and a continuation of old history in others (Batgirl).

Of everything in the relaunch, the TT is the most confusing. I say we just say "**** the DCnU TT unclear 'some of previous TT stuff could've happened or not' and do that. I say we make the previous TT stuff still cannon.

That's just me, though. Also, the new TT title ****ing sucks.

Also, just a heads up, we're not allowing second characters just yet. I'd like to make sure we don't spread ourselves too thin. Besides, we can always expand it back to two characters at a later date.

And let it be known, 2 characters being playable in the DC RPG didn't even exist until like 5 or 6 seasons in. So this isn't some crazy new idea given the newness of the game and the state of the RPGs.

Blasted pictures, now I have to go find one of a GL. If you are curious, going to pick on one of the two GLs who haven't been too totally screwed over yet. In fact, Stewart actually got part of his background "back" or at least paid attention to in GLC.

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): Wonder Woman

Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences)If you copy/paste this information from another website, link back to it, or it is considered plagiarism, it will not be allowed: :

(Pieced together from what information I can glean from the New 52 and previous incarnations)

On the island of Themyscira the Amazon tribe of warrior women lived closed off from the world of Man. Their queen Hippolyta was barren, but longed for a daughter. She molded a baby from clay and prayed for the gods to bestow life upon it, to give her the daughter she could never have. When she awoke the next morning, Hippolyta found a baby girl where the clay had been: the perfect Amazon, born of woman without the touch of man.

The girl grew up to become Diana, Princess of the Amazons, and eventually won her place as their champion, Wonder Woman, to act as an envoy to the Patriarch's world, and as a protector from all manner of supernatural threats.

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable): Justice League

Explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen and why you've chosen this character:

Wonder Woman is a very difficult character to really 'get,' and I always enjoy a challenge. While I already play Wondy in Ultimate DC, I plan on playing this one a little closer to the current incarnation, focusing on mythological horror, as I think that's a niche that Diana can fill that most other DCU characters can't.

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?:

I'm on AIM, MSN, and Skype. Y'all should already know my screen names by now.

Leslie stopped in her tracks, desperately panting for breath as she pressed her back against the rusted-out husk of an old pickup truck. Hundreds of other derelict cars were piled up around her, a junkyard that was almost impossible to navigate.

She didn't did how she and her friends got here. She didn't even know where here was, exactly. And she certainly didn't know what that....thing was, that now stalked her among the maze of forgotten clunkers, its cloven hooves pounding into the dirt with a dull thud-thud-thud as it approached.

She did know that it meant to kill her, just as it had killed all of the others. It would find her, and pull her limbs from their sockets with a wet POP like it did to her boyfriend Trent, and crush her throat in its teeth, and gore her through with its horns.

Leslie finally managed to catch her breath, long enough for her to cry.

The thud-thud-thud of the creature's hooves grew louder, interrupted by guttural snorts, until she saw its massive bulk rounding the corner into view. She was too tired and too afraid to run now; all she could do was pray.

However, as the monster prepared to charge, another figure landed from above in front of Leslie. A woman with long black hair, a length of shining golden rope clenched in her fist.

"You're a long way from Crete, Asterion," said Wonder Woman as she stared down the Minotaur, placing herself between the flesh-eating monster and the horrified girl. "You'll have to tell me what you're doing here, if I leave you in any condition to talk."

The beast roared and charged, and the Amazon was there to meet him with a war-cry of her own.

And Leslie watched, wide-eyed, as the warrior princess fought, alone, in a world of gods and monsters.

I figure the Titans history is intact, except they weren't called Titans.

Oh and the 2-character thing: I don't really see Chief/Red Raven as being two separate characters in this instance. They're a combo package.

I'd say if anyone else applied to play Red Raven, you'd have to let them. But the odds of that ar epretty miniscule, so you should be able to play as both characters without much trouble. Just have Chief Man Of Bats as your character and Red Raven as your NPC.

Of course I'd allow that.

For the record then, the Chief is my main character.

Yeah, I had no plans to force you to choose one, it's cool.

The "World's Finest" DC RPG Application

We ArE tHe RoT iN tHe ReD.

I have MSN and Skype. Most of you already have me on one or the other.
