I can only imagine what they can pull off with today's equipment. I wonder if it will be Mendes thing though, he's never really done action before.

Wow, I know inflation isn't an exact science but those are impressive numbers regardless.

I just hope there's a snow sequence in the movie and with Deakins as cinematographer, it's going to look beautiful.

And the funny thing about inflation is that I usually don't like to bring it up in film threads or comparing the success of today's movies with yesterday. There are many varying different factors, like in the 60s there were no vcrs or dvd players, tickets were cheap, and people were going to the movies regularly. It's obviously different, but I just love those inflated numbers for the early Bond movies.

But wait, there's more! :awesome:

We'll we've done "Dr No" and "Thunderball" set photo's. How about one from each Connery film

He always get's photo with a girl on his lap

Now that's awesome

I think I love you. :woot:

Thunderball is my favourite Bond film.

:woot:

It's just so grand in every way. A real definitive epic. Connery's lunch/clay pigeon shooting with Largo is a stand out moment for me, the forced verbal exchange/chivalry and Bond winding up Largo puts a huge smile on my face. Fiona Fiona Fiona. Easily my favourite Bond girl. If there's one bad thing I have to say about this film, is that there wasn't enough Fiona. The under water scenes gets a free pass from me because for it's time and what it managed to do was revolutionary.

I wouldn't go that far. I think his best work was in Goldfinger. He's at his most charming in it and he just nails the whole film. It is hard to think of his best moment (The Golf Game? The first meeting with *****? The laser scene?), he's so good in this film. It is partly, if not mostly, why Goldfinger is thought of so highly.

I think Gert Frobe deserves a lot of credit too. He's easily by far my favourite Bond villain and his villainy was just so organic.

When it comes to the Main villains, Goldfinger is definitely one of my favorites. My other favorites are Blofeld in OHMSS, Karnanga/Mr. Big in LALD, Stromberg in TSWLM, and Alec Trevelyan in GE.

Nah, Klebb was the main villain as it was all her and Kronsteen's plan. Grant was the guy doing the job.
Well obviously he's not a main mastermind villain like a Goldfinger, Blofeld, Zorin or Trevelyan but i always placed Red Grant somewhere in between. I would not class him as a simple henchman as well akin to the likes of Oddjob, Jaws, Onnatop and Stamper but above them and just below the mastermind villain....

obviously spoilers for anyone who has never seen these Bond films :oldrazz:

I always remember feeling bad for her when she got killed. :csad:

Deakins should make this the best looking Bond movie ever. I'm interested to see how they could bring a freshness to a snow based chase sequence in general.

Agreed, it is just fun to see those numbers as no matter ho they are sliced, they are impressive and demonstrate what a cinematic icon Bond truly is.

Saw a great behind the scenes interview for that stunt on Youtube. VERY complicated and the guy doing it was scared sh**less.

Got a link to this Metallo?

Great pic, the whole build up to the actual physical confrontation between Bond and Grant is what makes it so special.

She was indeed. Connery giving her the sandals to put on instead of the towel was just classic. I dont think there's been another Bond girl with a nicer rack too.

:funny:

Another British tv special on the history of the Bond films. This one came out in 1992 and also has interviews with cast and crew.

Snap. Auric Goldfinger is by far my favorite Bond villain. He was brilliant. From cheating at card games and golf, to delivering that brilliant speech about the planned assault on Fort Knox, to murdering his gangster associates, to nearly cutting off Bond's crown jewels with a laser. Classic villain and he had loads of memorable dialogue, particularly in his scenes with Bond.

Plus he delivered what is probably the most iconic line of the series after "Bond...James Bond" and that is:

Bond: "Do you expect me to talk?"
Goldfinger: "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die"

I also loved his "Choose your next witticism carefully, Mr. Bond, it may be your last".

The thing that put me off about those gangster associates in Goldfinger was that they were so goddamn stereotypical. I mean how they talked and acted annoyed the **** out of me.

It's one of those things where I have to remind myself that a movie like Goldfinger was a product of it's time so I can accept it for some of it's 'dates troupes' like cartoony stereotypes.

It was all the more satisfying when Goldfinger murdered them :oldrazz:

I posted it. :awesome: Its with the other videos in the Best Ever Bond special. The ski jump stunt is covered in part 4.

Ah! Thanks. :D

Definitely the best villain of the Connery movies, I love the golf scenes with him and Bond in particular.

Without doubt! classic line.

The thing about Goldfinger is that isn't Gert Frobe's voice.

It still doesn't make them any less cringe inducing.

"Saaaaaayyy, what's the big idea, Goldfinga?

It isn't? I know Largo was dubbed.
